If there even was one-There was something about solitary confinement that was making Dally feel inhuman, though he had the feeling that nobody would even make an animal suffer through this form of punishment-Dally glanced over at the tally marks he had made on the wall to count down the days he had left-6 more-6 more days of sleeping on a bed that he couldn’t lie flat on with a toilet right next to his head, only 6 more days to be stuck with nothing but his thoughts-Clenching his fists, he felt a rage grow inside of him-When he got out, he knew he’d never let another person, policeman or otherwise, get to him. He would not let them own his soul.-The rage he was feeling boiled down to a numbness inside of him and he told himself he didn’t care anymore- and that, he could live with
