he’s that one guy on campus girls have a crush on because of: his great academic skills and quite intimidating looks
while in reality, he’s the cutest boyfriend, most importantly your boyfriend 😌
he’s a true gentleman
holding a door for you is already a habit yet you’re always blushing whenever he does that
walks you to your classes and back home
knowing you’re not fond of preparing lunches and breakfasts he just makes it for both you and him
he knows you love it when he plays his guitar for you so never forgets to call you whenever he’s practicing in one of the practice rooms </33 (which is also a great space to make out??)
helps you complete outfits and takes you shopping to distract you from stress caused by schoolwork
but at the same time doesn’t mind when you borrow his clothes (especially jackets)
makes an effort to help you whether you volunteered with organizing some events
or with any school project, he noticed you’re having problems with
you have a tradition to spend friday evenings together since you can get busy during other weekdays
he would cook you some new meal every time making you his personal taster
during classes you have together he keeps an eye on you just because he loves how you look when you focus
never fails to compliment you not only for your looks but also your knowledge and ambition
definitely not shy to show you off to his friends as he keeps on bragging about you
but DEFINITELY gets extremely shy when you show affection to him in front of others 🫣
texts you during the day and sometimes sends pictures of him pouting saying he misses you
jay's soft and whipped bf agenda continues…
thank you for reading! back to the masterlist

[midnight thoughts: park jongseong + end of beginning]
rando posting on a thursday night bc this has been in my drafts 4ever. no summary you die like men. maybe i'll write a part 2. maybe.
whether the guitar is a meager subject bending to his will or an extension of his very own body, you are unable to decide. enveloped by the dim lighting and clouds of cigarette smoke, the black stained alder wood manages to melt into the obsidian of his leather jacket. the angularity of his face cuts through the darkness; the length of his nose is perfectly straight, the slant of his jaw is sharp enough to cut, and his eyebrows are two, thick lines of focus. he plays with so much precision that it almost makes you overlook the way he still purses his lips when he's concentrating—a habit he was never able to shake. it transports you back to a simpler time in which he wasn't a rockstar. instead, he was a college student studying business management who had a silly band on the side. he was a college student who never planned to make it big, who never planned to leave.
a break in the set forces you from the depths of your memories. he is almost unrecognizable as he works the crowd; a sea of people at this intimate show are screaming for him, begging for his attention, and you can't help but laugh to yourself. years ago, he used to play for you. with a timeworn guitar and a handful of hope, he shared his musings of the future. they were long-shots, pipe dreams, fantasies he entertained when his assignments proved too difficult and his imagination too wild. his voice was sultry as the nimble tips of his fingers waltzed over the fretboard; the melodies he created were happier than the ones he sings now. his stories chronicled a life with you, but now they're bittersweet—tales of olde, reminders of the past.
the show is coming to a close; the throngs of listeners are beginning to thin out. minute by minute, there are less bodies to hide behind, less background to blend into—but, you can't seem to make yourself leave. there's a part of you that wants to be seen, to be noticed by him once more. turning to the bartender, you order an elixir to forget. before you can take the first sip into oblivion, however, a shadow sits down next to you. he smells familiar—amber, sandalwood, a dark thicket. he orders a whiskey sour, and it reminds you of the first time you met. like an aged souvenir, you hold the memory delicately in the palms of your hands.
"what does it feel like, hm?" there's a momentary pause, then you hum into the thick, musky air, "to be a star?"
he takes in a labor-ridden breath. when he lets it out, it seems like more than air escapes him; the heavy exhale is almost painful as he ponders the question. a minute passes, and the quiet is stifling. "it feels good, at first. everything you want, anytime you want. but, it becomes hollow after a while—all the drinks, all the blurry faces, all the memories melting together," he admits. "it's like i'm floating, y'know ... aimless, in space, millions of miles away."
"is it lonely up there?" you ask.
"most of the time, yeah," he answers, stopping for a few seconds to think. "but, it's what i wished for. it's what i wanted."
glancing over at him out of the corner of your eye, you see he's still nursing his drink. the fingers of his left hand trace circles around the rim of the glass while he itches at his wrist with his right. the blonde streaks in his hair are tousled with a mixture of gel and sweat, and the darker parts fall forward to shield his gaze from yours. remnants of the boy you used to know, used to love are resurfacing from the deep recesses of your mind—where you had kept them hidden for years.
"you're still a terrible liar," you say.
his body tenses at the comment. as his muscles remain rigid, he scoffs, disbelieving and defensive, "what do you even know about me, anymore?"
"nothing, really ..." behind your blasé facade, there's a particular ache. his words cut you, a serrated blade shoved between the gaps of your ribs; it hurts because you know he's right. he is no longer yours to know, no longer yours to love. soon, you fear that he may not even be yours to remember—disintegrating, falling, lost to the sands of time. "i knew who you were, though. kind and gentle, the guy who would buy me flowers for no reason. every day, you would call me to tell me you loved me. you would cook dinner, light candles, wash my hair ..."
it grows quiet again; the only sounds filling the air are a symphony of closing ambience. dishes are clattering, glasses are clinking, and chairs are scratching against the floor. this time, however, the silence is not deafening. in a way, it is almost familiar—reminiscent of spring nights spent in the diner close to campus, faces full of pancakes and hearts full of joy. but, this quietude—while being peaceful—also breeds cruelty.
"i'm sorry," his voice pierces through the wisps of smoke and the faint scent of burning incense off in the distance. he leaves the rest unspoken—for leaving, for not saying goodbye, for not giving you an answer. but, you hear it. in spite of it all, you hear it. the words don't penetrate the toughened shell around your heart; instead, they echo in your mind. everything you wanted but nothing you needed.
you hesitate, "i don't know if i can believe you."
"why did you come then?" he asks, voice solemn.
pins and needles prick at the skin of your cheeks as the question makes the tips of your fingers go cold. it's almost unreal. he shouldn’t have the right to question you like this, to interrogate you like you’re the criminal—like you’re the one who left. his words make slow work of you like a bullet to the stomach. as you pour out everything for him, you come to the bitter realization that it ended this way all those years ago. it would always end this way. you, dead on the floor; him, gun in hand. “i wanted to see for myself, i guess—” you spit, “if it was all worth it.”
turning towards him, you break down the wall that time and distance had erected between the two of you. there's a ferocity that shines in your eyes; it makes them glow with a certain conviction. he avoids your pointed stare, instead choosing to swirl his watered down drink. only now do you allow yourself to take a closer look at him. his skin is pallid, a ghost of the deep, tawny beige you used to run your fingers along; the dark circles under his eyes accompany sunken cheeks and slumped shoulders. fatigue seeps down to his very being, and this life the has managed to sap the life from his veins.
"was it worth it, jongseong?"
hearing his name fall from your lips seems to send a bolt of pure lightning down the length of his spine. no one has called him that in years; the thought makes you wonder who else he left behind. the corners of his eyes crinkle as he shuts them tight, trying to be anywhere but squirming under the weight of your gaze. after a few moments, he shakes his head. it starts slowly, a gentle back and forth movement before it becomes violent and erratic. when he stops, the man finally connects with you.
his rich, umber eyes are the one of the only things you still recognize. behind the severity of his face, there is a softness dancing within them; at his waterline, tears twinkle like diamonds under a jeweler's light. jay has never cried, never felt the touch of someone who loves him for who he is—but, jongseong? jongseong misses that feeling. the freedom of being loved unconditionally, the all-encompassing warmth of not just being seen but being known.
he wanted to kiss you so bad that he could’ve died on the spot then and there. he had spent the whole evening doing assignments and gaming, but only later he realized that he had been neglecting you. although you didn’t complain, jay felt a pang of regret when he saw you curled up on the bed, leaving more than enough room for him.
jay frowned at your sleeping figure. he couldn’t kiss you without your consent.
he had no other choice but to wake you up. yes, he could just get a kiss from you tomorrow morning, but it didn’t feel right going to bed without saying a proper goodnight.
“y/n?” jay shook you a little. even his whispers were sweet melodies in your ears, like warm milk and honey. “hey there.”
you stirred almost immediately since it hadn’t been that long since you fell asleep. after a few seconds of stretching out your limbs, you blinked and looked up at jay. your boyfriend started to feel worse for disrupting your sound sleep, but a soft smile crossed his lips when he saw you rub your eyes.
“i’m sorry i woke you up,” jay apologized, reaching over to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear. “i wanted to kiss you goodnight first.”
“i was having a good dream,” you complained, narrowing your eyes at him before laughing a little. “but it’s okay because i wanted a goodnight kiss too.”
jay flushed crimson red, internally screaming over how adorable you were. when he pressed a chaste kiss to your lips, his heart did a little backflip when he felt you smiling into the kiss.
“goodnight, y/n,” he whispered once he pulled away, eyes tracing your lips before they flitted back up to your eyes.
6:50 p.m. ▸ “what’s that on your neck?” your little brother asked, frowning at the few purple bruises splayed across your skin that you forgot to cover up.
you panicked for a second, knowing well that the culprit was right across the table, staring down at his plate of pancakes like it was the last thing he would ever see. your boyfriend, jay, was trying to collect himself while you were floundering for words.
“your sister accidentally burned herself with the curling iron,” jay lied coolly for you, and you were almost impressed with how smooth he was until your best friend, nishimura riki, decided to open his mouth.
“they’re lying to you,” riki said. “he gave her a hickey.”
while your little brother tried to figure out what in the world a hickey was and you tried to convince him it wasn’t a big deal, riki was being chased around the house by your angry boyfriend.
pairing: park jongseong x gn!reader [ig implied fem!reader, but it isn't rly specified where jinsol comes from,,,, if u,,, catch my drift ig LMAOO]
genre/warnings: domestic fluff bc i need to marry park jongseong asap >:( !!! / food cw !, corny flirting bc i love playful banter, misleading title bc i posted this in the evening lolol, also i finished this at 3am again so the end is prob a bit ramble-y (?)
wc: ~0.9k (this is pretty short considering i could talk abt jay 4ever)
a/n: inspired by jay's weverse post where he told engenes to eat more fruit <////3 (i love him so much it's literally not even funny) / i also have no idea where "jinsol" came from ?? i've never had baby fever in my LIFE??? but oh to have a happy little family w park jongseong :'''''') / also i listened to seasons by wave to earth while writing 10/10 recommend
humidity weighs heavy in the summer air as a bead of sweat threatens to trail its way from the valley between your shoulder blades down to the small of your back. the weather would be unbearable if not for the large bowl of freshly cut fruit in your lap and the angelic bouts of laughter spilling from your daughter's lips. a fake tiara is poised atop her tiny head, the bottom of her fairy costume is stained with dirt from the garden, and she's poking your husband with a magic wand you recently purchased for her birthday.
you giggle as you spot jongseong pretending to be some fantastical monster; he chases your daughter back and forth through the park with a menacing twitch of his nose and an undeniable fondness twinkling in his gaze. relishing in this moment of peace, large clouds billow out into the sweeping, blue sky to offer a temporary reprieve from the sun's unyielding heat. however, even in spite of the shade, condensation pools in your lap as the bowl of fruit succumbs to the sweltering temperatures.
"oh, princess jinsol!" you call, having to suppressing a chuckle as your daughter's face immediately lights up at the new title. "the fruit's going to be all warm if you don't catch that big, scary beast soon!"
jongseong shoots you a playful glare as an exaggerated pout is etched into his features. while jinsol is still distracted by trying to figure out how to defeat her father-turned-sworn-enemy, he scoops her up into his arms and peppers an array of kisses all over her face. another spell of that same, ethereal laughter graces your ears as the two of them draw closer; your daughter is squirming in jongseong's hold, and as soon as she escapes from the "monster's" clutches, she buries herself into your side to nuzzle her forehead into the soft fabric of your sundress.
"daddy's so silly—huh, babygirl?" you say, running two knuckles along the soft, rounded expanse of her cheek. as you move the bowl out of her way, jinsol nods into the crook of your hip; she seems to find solace in the damp cotton and the hypnotic patterns you're tracing into her skin. "never goes easy on his princess, hm?"
jongseong brushes his fingers through jinsol's hair before reaching up to pinch your cheek. "hey—i let her win, sometimes ..." he protests, glancing down at his daughter; her chest rises and falls in a rhythmic pattern, and the fatigued fluttering of her eyelids mimic the butterflies accompanying your summer picnic. jongseong places a loving kiss to the crown of your head while admiring the little masterpiece napping atop your thighs. your lover lowers his voice to a careful whisper, "i just felt like i had to live up to the title of 'big, scary beast' that was bestowed upon me."
"oh, i see ..." you hum with a playful lilt, "what were you even trying to be—a troll?"
he snorts, "an ogre, maybe?"
"some sort of mortally wounded dragon?" you offer, basking in the feeling of his shoulder bouncing against yours. jongseong leans into your side as he carefully reaches over you and jinsol to grab a piece of watermelon, but you're quicker. ever the bringer of mischief—you snatch the bowl away from him with an impish grin dancing at the corners of your mouth. "maybe instead of stealing the princess, though," you simper, wiggling your eyebrows in the way you know makes him laugh, "you could steal a kiss from me?"
your husband scoffs, but lets his fingers waltz up the length of your arm nevertheless. "hilarious," he deadpans, quirking an eyebrow to stare at you over the rim of his sunglasses. "you're pretty bold to assume that one kiss would satisfy a super strong, super awesome dragon with sexy shades."
"ugh, you're so lucky i love you," you groan, faking a gag before succumbing to his charms—regardless of the strange ways that they may manifest in. "how about two kisses and i give you the watermelon?"
"haggling, now, are we?" jongseong chuckles, hooking his index finger under your chin, "i'll raise you ... three kisses, the watermelon, and another picnic next weekend."
"you've got yourself a deal, park jongseong."
your husband moves forward to press a gentle kiss against the tip of your nose; it forces a symphony of giggles from your mouth, but everything goes quiet when his lips meet yours in a conjunction that mirrors the sensation of ice cold lemonade gliding down your throat on a warm, summer's afternoon. the way jongseong kisses you is light and refreshing; he never fails to send shivers up your spine, and his lips are always sure to leave you dazed when he pulls away. jongseong draws back, stopping for a moment to graze the pad of his thumb over your cupid's bow before craning his neck up to place one more lingering kiss to your forehead.
"can i snag a piece of watermelon, now?" jongseong asks, that same exaggerated pout reappearing on his face.
you laugh, "anything for you, dear."
there's a beat of silence. a delicate summer breeze coaxes a sweet melody from the leaves that hang on the surrounding trees. as you watch jongseong feast on a mouthful of fresh fruit, you card your fingers through jinsol's silken hair. your princess is safe once more, sleeping soundly beneath the hidden stars in the evening sky. perhaps, in the future, she will face dragons more dangerous than the one her father pretends to be—but, for now, she is peaceful in your arms. mesmerized by the sheer adoration swelling in your heart, you don't actively register your husband's soft hand squeezing at the back of our neck. instead, it's a comforting pressure, it's a quiet reassurance that everything is okay, and it's a resolute promise to protect his happy, little family until the end of time.
(hehe tipsy witty bad boy(?) jay i love u when will i meet u at a party)
park jongseong is a bad influence; he is sharp and cold and almost frightening. when he sits next to you in class, a chill travels down your spine, and you fight the urge to cower away from him. so, it’s a particularly unusual sight when you see him tipsy at sunghoon’s new year’s party. red tipped ears, flushed cheeks, and a dazzling smile—he’s gorgeous, and you find yourself at a loss for words. floundering like a fish out of water, you practically combust as you notice he’s making his way over to you.
jongseong reaches you and you can’t think of anything to say, so you blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. “too much is bad for you, you know?” you choke out, gesturing to his solo cup.
and, he laughs. his shoulders shake, his face becomes a deeper shade of red, and you’re stunned (because you really didn’t think it was that funny). this is a different person, you’re convinced. jongseong has been overtaken by some sort of robot or alien controlling him from the inside. but, when his peal of giggles begins to settle, he looks at you with an eerily familiar pair of eyes. they are a deep, earthen brown—the color of soil after it rains, grounded and lovely. “did you know … that they say the same about me?” jongseong asks, with a silly quirk of his brow.
and, you’re laughing. you’re laughing at the sheer absurdity of this situation. park jongseong is not beating you to a pulp. park jongseong is cracking jokes with you, and something inside tries to convince you that the blush on his cheeks isn’t just from the alcohol. park jongseong, beautiful and unexpectedly funny, is flirting with you.
sure, maybe it’s the alcohol talking, but when he give you his number later that night, the writing is surprisingly stable and coherent. and, suddenly, you’re not as certain. as he walks you to your car and stands outside to send to you off with a wink, he points down at the paper in your hands.
call me, the napkin reads, and i’ll take you out—in moderation, of course.
you didn’t expect to get caught up in a fake relationship with troublemaker park jay
a crush of yours, the popular student council, lee junho, had rejected you but you ran into him coincidentally a few weeks later at a party
his friends assumed you were following him, and just as you were about to stand up for yourself, jay stepped in and said you were here with him
at first you didn’t like the idea of jay helping because you know he’s bad news
first things first, he’s a troublemaker at school, pranks everyone including the teachers, and isn’t much of a goody two shoes like you
but what’s really a goody two shoes when jay caught you copying his bestie’s jake’s physics homework?
he was holding you accountable, you just know it
jay would hold your hand in front of junho when the boy passes by
jay tells you that junho puts up a front at school, but is just as bad as he is and you don’t believe him
you run into junho at the bookstore and you overhear his friends make fun of you and jay
junho laughs, saying that jay could do better and he doesn’t understand why jay is even dating you
the next day at school while jay is playing cards with sunghoon and jake in his class, you walk up to jay and kisses him on the lips
“WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!”
“We on that level of PDA?”
“well i’ll be damned! can i have another one?”
you roll your eyes but kisses him again because junho’s friends are watching
after school, you apologized to jay for using him because you overheard junho and his friends talking shit and it angered you
“you can use me all you want”
“i’m your boyfriend in front of their eyes”
“also, was that your first kiss because you suck. i can teach you!”
you become used to hanging around jay and his friends
you start to enjoy holding jay’s hands and having his arms wrap around you
you even prank the teachers with jay and his buddies because exams are shit
you don’t know what the feeling inside is but every time jay is near, your heart start racing and you feel your cheeks burning hot
“hey pretty”
and just like that, you think you’ve fallen for him, but you don’t want to get rejected again because you’re just pretending
junho finds out that you’re fake dating jay and starts teasing you low-key, saying that if you wanted his attention that much he can give you seven minutes in heaven
jay punches the kid, telling him to back off because how can he disrespect a great person like you
you treat jay’s hand with ice and thank him for always helping you
“i told you that you could use me, pretty”
“jay... i don’t want to use you. i never wanted to use you. if anything, i wish we could be real but if you want to fake date, it’s okay! the dating life probably--”
and jay shushes you with a kiss
“it’s about time you want to be real with me, pretty”
AUTHOR’S NOTE: hello, this is my hopefully decent take at dark academia. no warnings, just fluff! hope you enjoy !!
WORD COUNT: 1.2k words
PLAYLIST: the blue danube waltz, op. 314 by johann strauss ii • young and beautiful - dh orchestral version by lana del rey • where’s my love - alternate version by syml
MORE UNDER THE CUT
jongseong was the perfect student at the academy
which is why you guys decided to keep your relationship a secret at first
the two of you hardly batted an eye when you pass by each other in the hallways
but whenever you really wanted to be with him, you whispered “jay” and park jongseong would drop everything to follow you into some vacant closet and hold you
no one expected jongseong to fall for you first
and he fell hard
you were shocked when the love letters started appearing between the pages of your books
he signed his letters as jay because he knew that you had no idea about his english name
you honestly should have noticed earlier, when you read the letters that were penned in such depth
when jongseong kept getting praised by professors for his writing
when he scored among the top in the academia for his prose
but you were so enamored but your secret admirer that you paid little attention to him
he noticed the little details you didn’t
how you holed yourself up in the library sometimes
how you always stuck your tongue out a little when you were concentrating
how you bit the end of your pencil when you were nervous
you figured it was someone in your class, someone who was close to you in the academy, so you began your search
however, you foolishly ruled out park jongseong before you even began
the letters started to become an exchange after that
jongseong started to write directions on where you could leave your response if you wanted to write one back
you gladly took the offer and started to write back to jay
after a few weeks of exchanging letters, you could tell jay was getting a little tired of staying anonymous
but you both loved the chase
that’s why you never lingered to see who collected your letter
one day, he wrote:
y/n, i think i must be an idiot for hiding from you like this. your eyes search for mine in the classroom, and i’m right there, but you never see me. why don’t we stop this charade so i can speak to you with words rather than through ink and parchment? - jay
of course, you agreed
you were too curious to find out the author of your love notes
he asked to meet you in the music room the next day when classes were over but god, you were a bundle of nerves
you were so frazzled that you barely connected the dots when jongseong was standing by the piano
neither of you said anything at first
you were silent while soft music played in the background
the blue danube waltz, op. 314 — you had recognized it from a piece you played at the spring orchestra concert
you were assuming he was just there to practice and was taken aback that you had intruded
you opened your mouth to apologize but he cut you off
“the blue danube waltz,” he remarked in a low murmur. “it’s nice.”
“it is,” you replied. “do you like the orchestra?”
jongseong hummed lightly. “i watched the spring concert and really liked how you played.”
you felt lightheaded. the park jongseong watched you play? and he liked it?
“especially the way your tongue sticks out when you’re concentrating really hard,” he continued musing. “it’s really cute.”
you swore your heart nearly burst
everything clicked then and there
jongseong was jay, the secret admirer that had been writing to you for months
“wait, are you—” you stopped yourself and shook your head. “no way.”
he took a step closer to you. “am i your secret admirer who wrote you love letters every day? am i jay who poured his heart out into poems and notes to make you smile?” he asked, a small smirk tugging at his lips when he saw how flustered you were. “take a wild guess.”
“oh my god,” you breathed out
“can i kiss you?” he mumbled
you nodded, dazed, and jongseong leaned down and pressed his lips to yours, one hand cupping your cheek
your hands slid up to hold onto his shoulders while you were trying to process the fact that the park jongseong had been whipped for you this entire time
although, since jongseong was quite popular and you were not keen on dealing with the backlash from the girls that liked him, the both of you decided to keep your relationship under wraps for the time being
jongseong was a romantic at heart, you learned
at school, he was studious and a golden example for everyone
he studied rigorously and went to the library every single day to tutor and do his homework for hours on end
with you, however, jongseong was jay
he read a midsummer night’s dream by william shakespeare to you under the shade of trees
he liked it best when you were sitting between his legs and leaning against his chest so he could hug you from behind
he wasn’t opposed to any kisses either
the love letters didn’t die with his identity being revealed
from time to time, you would see a love letter with pressed flowers and herbs along the sides with beautiful words about how much he liked you
his favorite thing to do with you, however, was having a picnic with you on the grass
especially when you kissed and it tasted sweet like fresh apricots and strawberries and peaches
he liked to study with you after you ate even though neither of you were very good at focusing
he would try to help you with latin
whispering the phrases into your hair and making you repeat them to him
but you’d get so flustered that you would forget what he said
and then he would laugh and just kiss all over your face
you were very content with having jongseong as your boyfriend
but then you started to grow frustrated with not being public about your relationship with him
while you were the one who suggested it, you were tired of seeing girls flirt with him
jongseong honestly didn’t care because he only had eyes for you
he also kinda liked it when you got jealous and protective of him
not that he’d admit that
but jongseong was an amazing listener and listened to your concerns fully before he spoke
he honestly hated that he made you feel insecure in the first place
and sort of beat himself up about it
but then he assured you that he only wanted you
and offered to make your relationship public
you felt so bad for making him feel bad that you just gave him the biggest hug
the both of you treated the matter as something calm
but jongseong and you were giddy about being able to hold hands even in the academy
you no longer had to see him in the blind spots of the library or storage closets
you walked to class together and he’d kiss the back of your hand before he had to leave
overall, having park jongseong as your boyfriend was one of the best things to happen to you
