[12:48 p.m.] The tension between you and Park Jongseong couldn’t have been cut even with the sharpest of knives.
It was a wonder how no one else was noticing the way he was staring at you. Sitting across from him at the table, you could practically feel his gaze drilling holes into your forehead. No matter how much you tried to ignore him and focus on the salad on your plate, you kept feeling like you were shrinking under his scrutiny.
You couldn’t really blame your friends for their lack of observation, though, since most of them were still hammered from your visit to the club the previous night.
God, you wanted to forget what went down yesterday so much. Horrible wasn’t even a good enough word to describe how terribly you’d messed up.
You did not regret kissing Jongseong, however, you did hate yourself for leaving him alone without any explanations right after. You could only imagine how confused he must have felt.
You knew your behaviour warranted an apology, but you couldn’t figure out how to approach him about it.
Did he even want to be approached? Did the kiss even mean anything to him? Would you only be making a fool out of yourself by saying sorry for something he didn’t even care about?
Your and Jongseong’s relationship had been strained ever since high school. Even now, you didn’t know the real reason behind your fallout. All you could remember was that one day, you suddenly began using your vulnerabilities as weapons against each other.
It was unclear who started it, but your loathing had graduated along with you and followed you into college. You supposed that somewhere along the way, the line between hatred and attraction had become very thin.
Sharing a heated kiss in that hallway had only erased it forever.
“You okay, Y/N?” Yeji asked, finally noticing how distant you were acting.
You stopped playing with your salad and gave your best friend a weak smile. “Just tired. I think I have to go to the restroom. Be right back.”
Getting up from your seat, you began walking away before she could offer to come with you.
You needed to be alone and far away from Jongseong.
Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on your side. The moment you entered the empty washroom, a pair of hands slammed your back into the wall, caging you.
“What the fuck are you doing?” you hissed.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Jongseong shot back, glaring down at you. His eyes were depthless pits of obsidian, and you were slightly intimidated by how angry he seemed. “We need to talk about last night.”
Refusing to avert your gaze, you said, “I was drunk—”
“Why did you leave me alone?”
Your mouth parted open in surprise. The last thing you’d expected him to ask you was that.
“I—” you began, trying to come up with an answer. “I freaked out. I’m sorry,” you added.
“Why’d you freak out?” Jongseong asked without skipping a beat. “I kissed you back.”
“I freaked out because you kissed me back,” you snapped. “Like I said, I was drunk. I thought you would have realised that and pushed me away.”
That was a huge lie. Since Yeji’s well-being had been your responsibility, you had stayed away from liquor. In hindsight, it hadn’t really stopped you from making bad decisions, though.
Jongseong chuckled bitterly. “Stop lying. I know what a drunk person smells like. Tastes like. You were clean and you consented.”
He was right. Kissing him had been something so unimaginable that he had pulled away immediately and demanded to know if you were drunk. The moment you had convinced him—with a lot of effort, no less—that you weren’t, he had captured your lips in a desperate haze.
“Do you really find me so repulsive?” he continued, taking a step away from you. Guilt clenched your heart upon seeing hurt flash across his face.
“No,” you said. “I don’t find you repulsive. I can’t stop thinking about you and it’s driving me fucking crazy.”
Jongseong’s eyes widened in surprise, his breathing becoming laboured. “Then why’d you suddenly leave?”
“Because I wasn’t supposed to kiss you!” you burst out. “I wasn’t supposed to let my goddamn emotions get the better of me! I wasn’t supposed to lose control! But I did, Jongseong, and when I realised, I fucking ran.”
For a few moments, he didn’t speak, the shock of your revelations rendering him speechless. He could only stare at you as he tried to process everything. And then,
“Are you losing control right now?”
That was all it took for you to snap once more. Grabbing the nape of his shirt, you smashed your lips against his.
Jongseong was quick to react. He snaked an arm around your waist and pulled you close, pushing the back of your neck with his hand to deepen the kiss.
Tilting your neck to the side to give him better access, you let your own hands travel to his hair and wove your fingers through the strands.
You opened your mouth for his tongue, but a knock cut you off. “Y/N?”
Shoving him away, you cleared your throat and hastily fixed your appearance. “Yeah, Yeji?”
“Everything okay in there?” her muffled voice filtered through the door. “You’ve been a while.”
“I’ll be outside in a minute. You can go back,” you said, meeting Jongseong’s gaze.
Yeji seemed to hesitate, but then you heard her shuffle away. “Okay.”
Once the sound of her footsteps had completely faded, you turned to face Jongseong.
“Later?” he spoke before you could, annoyance evident in his voice. You couldn’t even blame him for being pissed at being interrupted—you pretty much shared the same sentiment.
You nodded, already moving towards the door. “Text me.”
That was the second time you left Park Jongseong behind. He wasn’t worried, though, because this time you had promised to return.
being in a relationship with a rockstar means following him on tour, watching from the sidelines and feeling your heart explode every second in your chest. today's concert was special : it was the last of three consecutive months of shows. as he waited for the green light to go on stage, jay watched you with all the tenderness in the world in his pupils, while you were busy finalizing the last
details of his outfit. “you're so pretty,” he said softly, almost in a whisper, before sliding his hands against your cheeks and passionately kiss your lips, “this concert is entirely for you, my little rockstar.” he continued, before slipping back on stage and sending the crowd into a frenzy. you watched him from a distance and you began to think that yea, your boyfriend is truly amazing.
sighing, you throw your back against the cold pane of glass. on the other side of it, raindrops race against each other, twisting like snakes. you must come up with a plan to get yourself and your boyfriend to the other side of the street without looking like two completely soaked lovers in front of the restaurant.
jay leans next to you, mulling as well, cheekbones tense with contemplation, gaze fixed on something in the distance, towards your goal, which seems blurred due to the pouring rain.
you don't have an umbrella.
the boy finally pushes himself away from the wall and smiles kindly at you, which makes the situation seem less hopeless.
"alright. we can do it."
"how?"
jay takes his jacket off, then drapes it over your shoulders and your head. you blink in disbelief.
"but..."
"you're more important." that's all jay says, and you have no chance to protest, because your boyfriend gently but firmly grabs your hips and pulls you to stand next to him, caressing your waist. "shall we?"
you suspire, grabbing the jacket to keep it from falling off, then nod.
you two start, jay immediately gets drenched and can barely see, but he good-naturedly steers you away from stepping into a puddle in your elegant shoes. by the time you cross the street and stop under the eaves of the restaurant, jay's shirt is cold, his hair is sticking to his forehead, and a little water is dripping from it. he tolerates it, and what he sees in your eyes warms his heart. you gratefully, softly, lovingly smile at him, and press a small kiss on his mouth, as a means of thanking him for his generosity. then you frown with worry, because he is too wet.
"are you okay?"
this time jay plants a kiss on your lips and hums in response. he smiles, content, because you're grateful for his actions, and know that you can always rely on jay in a similar situation to protect you or the state of your clothes. jay is comforted by the fact that he is needed and loved, and he is very proud that you love him.
he walks to the door with the warmth of affection and joy in his chest, then opens it for his lover like a gentleman. the warm light of the chandeliers pours onto the sidewalk, and the pretty you shines in jay's eyes in such a light, even in rain and frost.

"ow, i think i cut myself a little." you exclaim as you put down the knife.
"are you alright?" jay asks from the other side of his kitchen. his back is still turned to you, assuming it was not as bad.
you'd never pass an opportunity to cook with jay, and today was no exception. being together in the kitchen was more than enough to make you happy.
your finger stung quite a bit and you look down to see your fingertip dark red.
"yeah, i'll continue cutting up the cucumbers." you reply. you tear a piece off tissue to stop the blood that was coming out of your finger tip from getting on the cucumber.
the ripping sound made jay look back, confused as why you needed tissues to cut cucumbers.
he peers at the cutting board and sees the tissue with blood on it.
"is that blood?"
"uhh, no?" you unconsciously lie. jay being suspicious approaches you to take a look himself.
"so it must be the cucumber that made the tissue red?" he sarcastically says. you chuckle and give up on trying to hide the fact that you're bleeding.
"let me see," jay demands. you hold up your hand and he carefully looks at the wound.
"it's not that bad, it just looks bad because it's bleeding," you assure him. he continues to dab the blood away for you with a new tissue.
"jay?" you call out after a silence.
"hm?"
"why are you so quiet?"
"i'll cut the cucumbers, you can make the rice." he says, pushing you in the direction of the sink.
he wanted to kiss you so bad that he could’ve died on the spot then and there. he had spent the whole evening doing assignments and gaming, but only later he realized that he had been neglecting you. although you didn’t complain, jay felt a pang of regret when he saw you curled up on the bed, leaving more than enough room for him.
jay frowned at your sleeping figure. he couldn’t kiss you without your consent.
he had no other choice but to wake you up. yes, he could just get a kiss from you tomorrow morning, but it didn’t feel right going to bed without saying a proper goodnight.
“y/n?” jay shook you a little. even his whispers were sweet melodies in your ears, like warm milk and honey. “hey there.”
you stirred almost immediately since it hadn’t been that long since you fell asleep. after a few seconds of stretching out your limbs, you blinked and looked up at jay. your boyfriend started to feel worse for disrupting your sound sleep, but a soft smile crossed his lips when he saw you rub your eyes.
“i’m sorry i woke you up,” jay apologized, reaching over to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear. “i wanted to kiss you goodnight first.”
“i was having a good dream,” you complained, narrowing your eyes at him before laughing a little. “but it’s okay because i wanted a goodnight kiss too.”
jay flushed crimson red, internally screaming over how adorable you were. when he pressed a chaste kiss to your lips, his heart did a little backflip when he felt you smiling into the kiss.
“goodnight, y/n,” he whispered once he pulled away, eyes tracing your lips before they flitted back up to your eyes.
jay would describe you as reckless. you constantly got on his nerves and managed to find anway to drive him up a wall. one thing that annoyed him the most was your big mouth- you never seemed to shut up and you'd babble on about things most people were obvilious to.
but, he never managed to just ignore you. if a room was crowded, the first person he'd look for would be you. even if you were often careless, loud and managed to make him worry for your safety more times than you should, he still never ignored you.
even in this moment; as he tended to your bruises, his mouth turned down and his eyebrows pulled together in concentration, he still couldn't ignore you. "I'm sorry," you whispered, as you feared his response this time.
he sighed loudly and carefully placed the dinosaur bandage that he had kept stowed away for moments like these on your wound. "just stick by me next time and try not to fall down easily," he said and you nodded.
"It's not my fault though," you voiced out and he raised his head to look at you. with a raised brow directed at you, you gulped at the intensity of his gaze and looked away. "it was that dude that pushed me into the rosebush," you mumbled.
"you wouldn't have falled if you had just let me take pictures of you like I offered rather than walking to look at a bush,"
as you came down from your position on the counter, you wrapped your hands around his torso and talked into his chest. "sorry that you had to take care of me...again. I'll make it up to you," you told him and his hands went up to ruffle your hair.
"that's okay," he reassured and you smiled into his chest. "you can make it up like this," he said and raised your head slightly to look at him before he pressed a kiss to your forehead.

FOUR : stay, stay with me ( + written, 635 words )
your mother has been bombing your phone ever since you sneakily left the house with jay, wanting to escape everything while you still can. as of the moment, you really hated her guts. she was someone selfish, self-centered, even. and whenever you see her name, you are reminded with the way how she talked to you earlier— as if you were an inanimate object; something she could easily dispose as soon as she gets what she wants from you. as much as you wanted to hate both of your parent’s guts eternally, you just couldn’t. probably because at the end of the day, they were still your parents; the people who gave you life. jay could easily read the distaste on you face whenever you phone lights up, showing your mom’s non-ending threats. she has also been calling you so much. this resulted to you turning on your phone’s airplane mode just to receive peace and appreciate the place where jay took you.
“y/n?” jay called, noticing how your face had a softer expression as you were drawing in the sand, which contrasts how it was earlier. the way your phone has been ringing non-stop really frustrated you. “yeah?” you look at his direction, still holding onto the twig you’re using to draw doodles on the sand. “have you ever thought of moving out?” he asks, leaning back. “i have. but i know it would just be useless; my parents will get me tracked down and the cycle of them controlling my life starts again.” you reply, back onto drawing doodles a bit harsher that before, as you were reminded of how bad your parents were. “let’s say i’ll help you. what do you think?” jay offered. your situation right now was really reminding him of his younger days which explains him feeling the need to help you in every possible way ever. “jay, i don’t want to be a bother. i’ve already disturbed your rest day today, and—” you blabbered, not used onto being offered help by people other than your friends. “we’ve talked about this already, remember? you’re in no way bothering me. and when it comes to you? whatever it may be, you will never be considered as a bother in my life. i’m always here for you, okay?” jay reassured you, combing his hands through your hair. because he sees his younger self in you, he really had the urge to protect you from everything. you then ponder, thinking about his offer. you really did want to get out of your situation, but thinking about the consequences made you shiver. you didn’t want to get jay in trouble.
jay notices a mannerism you had; pouting whenever you’re focused on think of something serious. he lightly squished your cheeks, making the two of you laugh. “you’re pouting, is there something on your mind?” you were shocked on how fast he could pick up details about you. “well,” you trailed off, looking anywhere but his eyes. “well…?” he copied, waiting for you to complete your sentence. “i was wondering if it would be fine with you if i stay at your place for a few days.” you shyly asked, hoping that your request wasn’t too much as you drew doodles for the nth time, trying to ease the growing anxiousness on your chest. jay was happy to know that you trust him enough to ask this certain question, he was ecstatic with the information but he decides to suppress his smile. “i don’t mind. too be honest, it gets pretty lonely since i live alone. having you around would be really fun.” he responds, a smile growing on his face, with his face slowly heating up. “you’re blushing.” you tease him, your lips also curving onto a smile as you pinch his cheeks.

rushing out of class, you started chatting quietly with your friends, heading to your next lesson. as you headed for the stairs, your best friend clinging to your arm shouting about how awesome park sunghoon was, your step was suddenly cut off. in front of you, your boyfriend was at the bottom of the stairs, a silly smile plastered on his face. you waved to your friends to go to class without you, that you would join them in a few minutes, the latter hurrying to leave you alone with jay, while sending you glances filled with innuendo. you rolled your eyes at their behavior, then you descended the steps one by one, slowly, giving time to latecomers to join their class.
the corridor now deserted, you found yourself facing the boy who kept arousing your interest, a blissful smile tied to your lips. « how does it feel to be shorter than me, mister park? » — you scoffed gently, referring to your height difference due to the stairs. resting your hands on his shoulders without taking your eyes off his chocolate pupils, a soft chuckle left his mouth, as he slid his hands to your hips, getting dangerously close to you. « it's okay, actually. i feel like i'm looking at an angel. » — gaving him a light tap on his shoulder because of his words, you broke the distance between your bodies by tenderly placing your lips against his, causing him to tilt his head back slightly. your hands on jay's shoulders held your body straight while you kissed him a little more passionately, creating a wave of butterflies flying through your stomachs. after long silent kisses exchanged, you pulled away from him slightly, facing his adoring eyes that never left your face. « we should probably go to class... » — you whispered against his lips, finally pulling away as he slipped his warm, comforting hand into yours. « yea, we probably should.. » — but in reality, he had no intention of letting you go, so he gently tugged on your hand to make you fall into his arms, while once again, mingling his lips with yours.
