Some ash glazes drying. They are all raw glazes so hopefully they will stick. Experimenting with some barley straw ash which makes a fairly runny white glaze by itself, also using some ash from the fireplace.
Back at the wheel after a stint painting. Making a few small tea cups to test some ash glazes upon.
The strained slip is then poured into bags (pillow-cases) to dry on an old sofa bed spring.

Blunging the local clay with a paint mixer on an electric drill. Varying the water /clay ratio changes how the slip suspends the larger particles.

These cups measures
(left) Y1408: 10.3 -10.6 cm W, 5.3 cm H, 150g.
(right) Y1409: 10.2 - 10.7 cm W, 5 cm H, 141g.
They have been made in the Kohiki Style with a light yellow slip over an Iron rich clay body.
These pieces have been stoneware fired (1280c)
They are quite vitrified and have a clear ring when tapped.
Sold as a pair.
