I'm so excited about the Special Program for Genshin Impact Version 6.4, Luna V «Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind».

First of all, of course, because of Varka (I absolutely love this character). And then DILUC IS THERE. Also, the story itself looks soooo good.

While watching the trailer, I felt like we might relive the events of «The Outlander Who Caught the Wind», almost as if Varka needs to learn what happened while he was away.

It feels like a return to Mondstadt maybe to notice what has changed and what feels off and to set things right. Or maybe it's not just about Varka. Maybe it's for older Travelers who haven't experienced Mondstadt's since 1.0. (I wasn't there back then, sadly).

Every version of Song of the Welkin Moon (6.X) has felt like a fever dream in the best way. My love for this story has truly come back to life. I started playing during Inazuma and even though I appreciate many aspects of Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine and Natlan, their design and structure sometimes felt overwhelming for me personally. I know each region has incredible characters, beautiful worldbuilding and strong narrative moments. It's just that Mondstadt and Nod Krai resonate with me more. Their exploration feels lighter and more emotionally grounded, which makes the experience more enjoyable for my playstyle.

But going back to the Special Program.

The chibi hosts were so cute. Joseph May (Varka's English VA) seemed slightly serious and a bit shy to me, while the character he plays is a bold leader who also loves joking around and laughing. That contrast is adorable.

Nic Olsen (Flins' English VA) was all over the place, joking around and being playfully mischievous. I'm getting used to his chaotic energy. I discovered him through Flins and really grew to love his work.

Hold on! What is Varka doing in front of the giant pot at Dadaupa Gorge!? Oh no...

The fact that Varka is getting an animated short in 4 days is INSANE. This character is clearly one of Hoyoverse's favorites.

Nicole… are you sure Alice never mentioned Varka to you before? Hmm.

The art style looks absolutely stunning.

That plot about Godwin in Varka's Character Anecdote, jeez. I cracked up when I saw it. Hoyoverse really doesn't want to leave any loose ends.

Varka takes being a knight very seriously, so I'm curious to see how that situation with Godwin will be handled haha.

Godwin, your days are numbered.

I recently completed the 6th chapter of Part II of the Selenic Chronicles (literally yesterday). In that chapter, the Traveler prepares a drink for Columbina and she shares a small anecdote about Sandrone. I wiiiiiished we could have more moments like that. Those little character interactions are so much fun and add so much personality.

So when I saw that we're getting a similar kind of minigame, I was blown away. I'm usually not the biggest fan of minigames but this one actually got me excited.

Overall, I'm really happy with this version preview. I can't wait for the release date to arrive and to finally have Varka on my team. I want to learn more about him, about his past, why confronting the threat of the Abyss in Nod Krai was especially important to him, what we might uncover about Roland and Vedrfolnir and also see what his life is like now back in Mondstadt.

The archon quests with Dottore keeps my heart on edge, but I think it's okay to have a little pause and enjoy good stories alongside it «Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation».

Familiar skies, familiar faces, and unfamiliar stories… People often say that the further you go, the more important it is to remember where you started, and know your way home. "However, winds change their course." Blowing toward where they are needed most, at the moment they are meant to arrive.

Right now, I'm on my own "expedition" and I've stepped so far out of my comfort zone that nothing feels familiar anymore.

PS. That text also made me wonder whether Varka is meant to stay in Mondstadt from now on. Maybe he'll only be there for this version and then return to Nod Krai or go wherever he's needed next. After all, for someone as free as the wind, staying is only a pause before changing direction.

Silly Dog Fact: The crew had a hard time dealing with the dogs who kept licking the blood and meat off themselves.

Badass Actress Fact: Milla Jovovich did all of her own stunts except the pipe jump in the sewer scene. She used a stunt double in that scene, because her agent thought she would get strangled by the hanging wires.

Video Game Movie Fact: The second movie based on a video game directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The first was Mortal Kombat (1995).

Alice in Wonderland References: Connections to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland: Main character's name is Alice. Computer is named 'Red Queen'. The Red Queen needs to kill someone who is infected, so she tries to get someone else to chop off their head. (Off with her head!) Alice in Wonderland paperweight. A white rabbit was used to test the T-virus. To enter the hive they go through a mirrored door (Through the Looking Glass). The Red Queen also succeeds in cutting off "her" head -- the medic in the laser hallway. Kaplan worries about time, as the White Rabbit does (mentioned in the commentary). Matt is sitting on the ledge when Rain and JD hear the first zombie. This is mentioned in the commentary as a reference to the Caterpillar.

I admit the reason why I watched was wanting to see Karen Gillan. There are not enough movies that prominently feature her.

It felt at times a bit over the top, possibly for "dramatisation purposes", and you can see that it's "only" a TV movie. But it's perfectly watchable.

It's also a battle of the accents.
