Hi! I'm Mary. Here you'll mostly find posts about series, games and music. Sometimes analysis, sometimes opinions or notes.
I've shared posts about Digimon Adventure, Digimon Story Time Stranger and Genshin Impact but I'm also into other themes like The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Pokemon and a few others.
I post about what moves me in the moment. It's not a themed blog, just an evolving mix of things I enjoy. If something here doesn't match your interests, that's fine. You can unfollow me anytime or mute tags so you can choose what you see.
I also keep an archive sideblog maryysarchive (in case you come across it).
Just wanted to share and archive the JP dub of Kaveh and Alhaitham's conversation under the stars here.
Because I first played the AQ with the JP dub—which, ngl, completely whelmed me with all the Feelings™ towards the end lmao—I'm always going to be partial towards the voice-acting here the most. I think both Taso and Umehara did a really great job portraying a softness and emotional vulnerability to Kaveh and Alhaitham's characters here, with such a good balance of earnestness, playful banter, and an underlying affection throughout.
Lol what's with that look... The way they just held each other's silent gaze for 5 seconds before Kaveh felt too self-conscious and had to look away...
In all seriousness though, I love how this silent exchange between them really set the tone of their conversation for the rest of the scene. One would've expected the usual biting jibe to Kaveh's odd question, but Alhaitham merely took a glance at Kaveh and, immediately noticing his fatigue, decided against it. He had even sensed the nervous restlessness that Kaveh tried to hide—there's always a possibility their plans would fail tomorrow, and the world might fall into ruin—when Kaveh started fussing over him to make sure Alhaitham had food and water. Love how Kaveh's way of dealing with nervous energy is to instinctively take care of Alhaitham rofl..... Senpai :")
It’s likely that Alhaitham had long observed how Kaveh unconsciously seeks his presence out of habit for comfort and as a way to ground himself whenever he's feeling anxious and fretful. And even though Alhaitham himself was also tired from the events of the day, he didn't brush Kaveh away. Despite what some might still think, Alhaitham has always demonstrated his empathy and kindness to those who needed it—we've already seen it in several instances during his interactions with Shani, Rahman, Ilyas and even Paimon (to name a few), and we also see it implied in this AQ with his concern over Nahida's initial collapse and Collei's overall wellbeing.
Here, he was patient when listening to Kaveh's worries and offered some words of comfort and encouragement in his own way—that they've already done all that they could to the best of their knowledge and abilities under these pressing circumstances; that even he has a limit to who and what he can influence, no matter how meticulous or organized his plans are. So, all he can do is not fall into the trap of overthinking and ruminating over things beyond his control.
It's also nice to see Kaveh listening to Alhaitham in return and accepting his words in good faith this time (instead of assuming it's always veiled criticism against him). Perhaps their earlier success with the chessboard trials have opened not only their eyes and minds to the wondrous possibilities they can perceive and achieve together despite their differences, but it also made them remember their emotional connection, the intimacy of opening up their hearts to one another again—that's why they could finally allow themselves to lower the emotional walls they had long built up around each other and be much more open and earnest with their words; to show a gentler kind of warmth and affection towards each other.
I also just love this callback to that first heated interaction they had. And seeing Alhaitham's tiniest smile when he teased Kaveh with "You're often the one who initiates these things, you know" YES MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY...!! I've always figured this was the case too, that Kaveh is the one who usually goes around looking for Alhaitham (and not the other way around lol), and that he is as much at fault as Alhaitham is whenever they get catty and devolve into arguments. They're just as bad as each other, honestly XD. Still, it's so cute that they both recognise and accept this flaw within themselves in good humour and even exchange teasing remarks at the same time. The fact that Kaveh can tell Alhaitham is also comforted by his presence and having him around to debate and exchange deeper insights with ("It's good having me around to help out, huh?" "Absolutely")..... My heart :"D
I don't even know how to be coherent anymore aghhjdkjkssj but Kaveh reciting the line that Alhaitham once said to him before in Parade of Providence, but this time with that little smile because he finally, finally understood the meaning and actions behind those words, and how Alhaitham had always been trying to support him in his own way; and then the way Alhaitham himself was genuinely surprised Kaveh still remembers that line after all this time.... this actually brought tears to my eyes while playing fCUK I STILL HAVE SO MUCH STUPID FEELS ABOUT THIS MOMENT LOL...
And somehow, somehow my brain had an intuitive feeling that the two Kavetham colour-coded birbs perched atop the cliff and watching the edge of the horizon in Simulanka might be a Vague Hint/Foreshadowing of a possible future event back in the middle of 2024....... what the heck man lol
I love your reading of this scene, it made me think about how far they've come since Kaveh went to find Alhaitham at the House of Daena in version 3.2 after the crisis in Sumeru involving Dottore and the Sages.
I think the main difference here is the gentle and empathetic tone Kaveh uses when approaching Alhaitham. Usually Kaveh arrives overflowing with anxiety making a scene and throwing accusations at him, but on this night he channels that nervous energy into making sure Alhaitham hydrates and eats. That absence of defensiveness is what allows Alhaitham (despite being exhausted and overwhelmed by the events of the day) to let his guard down and focus on listening to Kaveh helping him manage his anxiety, showing a moment of mutual care where one tends to the physical (food, water) while the other attends to the emotional by grounding him in what he can control.
Seeing Kaveh quote Alhaitham's exact words gave me chills, it's proof that behind all his complaints, he pays full attention to him. With that “Hmm?”, I'm not sure if Alhaitham genuinely didn't understand what he was referring to, or if he was surprised to see that Kaveh actually listens to him and validates him.
How different everything would've been if back in version 3.2 Kaveh had entered the House of Daena by first asking Alhaitham whether it was a good time to talk instead of demanding explanations, but the reality is that at that point neither of them had the capacity to step out of their own perspective and meet the other without getting defensive. Kaveh was carrying immense insecurity due to all the unexplained changes happening in Sumeru, his abandonment wound must've been at its absolute peak. Meanwhile, Alhaitham was operating in survival mode while dealing with severe exhaustion. They've had to go through so much together since then, requiring extraordinary patience from Alhaitham and, on Kaveh's side, a willingness to become less judgmental and stop assuming hidden motives behind every word Alhaitham says (which is understandable considering how much he's suffered throughout his life, except this time he's defending himself against the one person who's actually trying to help him... in his own way, yes... but all he needs is to be accepted for who he is), demonstrating that although their current dynamic isn't perfect, the progress is remarkable.
All of this comes full circle in the later scene in their damaged home when Kaveh confesses his reliance on anguish as a source of inspiration for his artistry, and then, when challenging Alhaitham about what skills he's been mastering lately, Alhaitham picks up Kaveh's paint box to carry it to his room, and although Kaveh remains oblivious assuming it's some kind of bribe, by taking the box Alhaitham is literally removing a tangible burden from Kaveh's hands to ease his intangible burden as well, and in turn, Kaveh responds to that gesture by deciding to repair Alhaitham's most valuable books, demonstrating that they're both learning to meet in that space between, showing care through the simplest of mediums.
Technically, this blog was born about 5 years ago, but today marks its first real year of activity.
I think I created this account years ago to look for vision board inspo (kind of how pinterest is used) but it has been my digital journal for a year now since I started posting. I came from writing in my physical journals, onenote and a stint on reddit where I ended up while searching for info on Digimon Adventure Tri because I couldn't believe it existed, I don't think I had even reached the part where Kuwagamon attacks Odaiba before I was already googling reviews of these OVAs, my jaw hit the floor the moment the Tri intro started playing. Seeing people share tumblr links there to back up their points is how I discovered that you could write, log things and be part of different communities here.
Back then, I had zero clue how this place worked, I didn't get the reblogs, archives or even tags, which mean so much more here than just a search filter.
As someone who loves keeping records of different moments, how amazing would it have been if the 2022 me, who used to write in her onenote, had known about this place.
Paimon tells Wanderer that she feels useless because even though she's always with the Traveler she can't do anything in moments of real danger and she recalls the time the Traveler was kidnapped by Dottore and how helpless she felt, which leads her to think about what would happen if the Traveler never came back and she had to face everything alone, ending up feeling like a burden and wishing she could be a friend who's actually useful.
Wanderer acknowledges her feelings and says that when doubt appears, the only options are to give up or change, and that the decision has to come from within because no one else can solve it for her. He puts the choice on her telling her to decide whether she wants to become stronger or learn more, and to take action so she'll have no regrets knowing that she at least tried.
"I'm not gonna try and encourage you. What I will say is this: When you start doubting yourself, you have two choices - give up, or change.
You have to make the decision to move forward. Otherwise, no amount of consolation from other people is gonna help you.
So ask yourself - what do you want? To get stronger? To learn more? Whatever it is, go do it. You won't have any regrets if you can at least say that you tried."
Wanderer is helping her face her doubts and the insecurity that makes her question her own worth. What matters isn't avoiding failure but reaching a point where the choice was made consciously, so nothing is left as a regret because the real risk is getting stuck.
PS. The fact that Alhaitham insists so much on her education is one of the most beautiful and low profile things in the story. It has been going on for around 3 years and he keeps sending her books, reminding her about exams and even applying her for the Driyosh giving her the tools to understand the world and hold her own. It says a lot about Alhaitham that he decided to invest time and effort into educating Paimon even if it brings him no direct benefit.
PPS. Hmm… could Hoyoverse be foreshadowing a separation between the Traveler and Paimon? Or maybe that she's about to awaken her true powers?
The house is a mess, the books are damaged and everything is scattered everywhere. For Kaveh it feels like chaos, for Alhaitham the material side of it is secondary because they're alive and managed to stop something far worse.
That shows how differently they perceive the world. While Kaveh transforms suffering into meaning, Alhaitham focuses on reducing it.
When Alhaitham points out that people usually try to improve their situation once anguish becomes the norm, Kaveh confesses that anguish has become a source of inspiration for him and he isn't sure he could break his reliance on it.
Then Alhaitham replies:
"happy that you can always find an answer that backs up your views."
Acknowledging Kaveh's remarkable talent for constructing narratives that justify his suffering and make it feel meaningful, framing it as a skill Kaveh has been mastering.
Then Kaveh asks what Alhaitham has mastered perhaps expecting something intellectual, but Alhaitham responds with help instead. He grabs Kaveh's paints, offers to take them to his room and assists without making a big deal out of it.
Kaveh is caught off guard and internally wonders if this is some kind of bribe, failing to realize that this practical action IS Alhaitham's way of showing care.
They both take care of each other even if they feel the other doesn't know how to show it properly.
PS. The OST being so wholesome only reinforces the intimacy, warmth and sense of home they've built together.
The rooftop scene with Alhaitham and Kaveh at the Mausoleum of King Deshret was another one of my favorites in this archon quest.
Every time they had to work together during this mission (and any mission where they're together), Kaveh's ability to get irritated at Alhaitham over the smallest things always made me laugh. I kept rolling my eyes at him but it never gets tiring because they know when to stop, and under all the bickering there's familiarity, trust and balance.
The more I watch Alhaitham, the more fond I grow of his character. He filters everything through logic first and stays highly rational, but he doesn't feel heartless to me (I think Dottore is the real example of rational and heartless). Even if he won't be dragged by emotions, he always ends up helping for real by actually solving the problem and preventing things from spiraling further.
I relate to Kaveh a lot and that's why I see how important it is to have an Alhaitham in your life, or to build that clarity yourself. He drops something practical and suddenly everything feels smaller and clearer like you've been drowning in a puddle. But he doesn't do it out of cruelty, he simply doesn't sugarcoat anything and just lays the facts straight.
He basically says: focus on what you can actually control, everything else just turns into pointless suffering. Accept the situation, drop the unnecessary pain and put your energy into what you can do for yourself.
Alhaitham reads Kaveh the way he reads one of his books, and Kaveh always ends up feeling exposed and vulnerable in front of him, but in the end, they always hold each other up.
Nefer being drawn back once again into a crisis that threatens the world, except this time the problem is in her own homeland.
It's difficult to be called back to a painful past, to a place that showed you no compassion and yet life asks you to be compassionate toward it.
Nicole was brilliant in this conversation, appealing to that strong emotion still living in her heart and memories so that none of it would be meaningless. Because even if that feeling is hatred, that intensity still doesn't compare to the emptiness that comes after everything disappears.
"We all need a reality check once in a while, so we don't forget the truth."
Very true Nefer.
PS. Nicole counting on Alice's money cracked me up.
It's being a very tiring time of my life, my job is going wonderfully and that's exactly why I've been kinda absent. Days are long and I come home really drained with zero creativity... It's being a very burnout time.
Even so, a couple of weeks ago, seeing my boyfriend opening steam on our pc, to play, i asked:
"Do we still have The sims installed?"
"Why? Do you wanna play it?"
"Maybe..."
"Do it, it will help you rest a bit."
So, I was missing drawing my comics, I was missing my kids... what did I end up doing?
Don't tell me you weren't expecting this.
My Miyako
I only have the base game and a couple of dlc so I really made my best to come out with this. I tried my best to recreate her outfit picking either from the anime and official arts and collaborations. My favourite must be the winter one, too bad we don't have her red coat (from Adventure 02) cause everything else is just so on point. A bit sad we don't have a cow patterned bathsuit. This is really something sad.
I HAD A LOT OF FUN.
Was I satisfied after creating her? Of course I wasn't.
My Ken
Oh this boy, how I love him.
Unfortunately the game doesn't offer many haircuts and most of all, many hair colours, so I went for something similar to short haired Ken, which I love, and for black hair. I mean the blue was peacock blue, not the best for him. As for Miyako, I tried to dress him as similar as his official outfits and arts. Isn't his summer outfit (second from right) just exacly as his Kizuna's one? I am proud.
The 02 gang.
I ended up talking about this crazy idea with my friend @maryychill, who fully embraced this project, and we ended up creating a whole digidestined gang, yeah 12 people plus some bonus eheh (You can see more on her blog, she did a lot, a looot).
Here they are! I made everyone except for Hikari (Made by Mary, cause she's her favourite). I am really enjoying playing with all of them, They are all teens except for Iori, of course, who is still a little kid and is SO CUTE.
Now, about the game.
I love playing with Miyako, I made her live with her siblings, Momoe, Mantarou and Chizuru. They live in Willow Creek near a strange tree. I made Miyako interact with it and found out an incredibly beautiful place. I made her call everyone and explore it.
Really guys, do we have Digiworld in the sims? I mean, look at this place!
They had a pic nic there and at some point Ken thought it was a good idea to start doing his homeworks... Iori soon followed the example, helped by Miyako and did a great job! Takeru hugging him after he finished with his study was just too cute.
Talking about hugs, Ken and Miyako are a couple! Can you believe it? In my game? It's super funny they frequently meet in Miyako's house and her siblings are often in the way... the moment in the series she wished to be an only child is so real in this game, omg.
They are a cute couple of nerds, they even found some time to study together during a date... how romantic (?) (Maybe it is, for them)
Interactions.
I had some luck catching some of the interactions happening in the game while I wasn't asking the characters to do things.
That's what happened:
Ken hugging Iori. We all love this little kid.
Miyako receiving a gift from Ken with Chizuru being there like: "I wish that present was for me, omg"
Miyako talking with Koushiro about some interesting stuff.
Wait, Koushiro?!
Yes! I told you all the gang is there!
This is Koushirou's lab... a little crowded maybe? But the music is on, sofas are really confortable, the pc are the coolest around and we are having a big fun!
Miyako immediately went to talk to Mimi, Ken, as usual, when Iori is around goes to check on him. (I don't know why, but this is so incredibly cute, he likes the kids)
Funny finding Takeru doing his homework with Joe teaching him... and some hot dogs on the side. I don't know who made them.
The gang (almost) reunited. Keeping them all in the same room is nightmare, but we have, clockwise from the up centre: Taichi, Miyako, Yamato, Ken, Wallace, Michael, Koushiro, Mimi, Sora, Daisuke and Hikari!
What is that? A Ladybug? No guys, Tentomon. It's clearly Tentomon in Koushiro's lab! (He likes to stop in front of him sometimes and just observe him in all his red roundness).
At the moment playing this game is helping me recover from my creative burnout and it's making me incredibly happy and maybe a little bit less stressed by my job.
Ok, maybe some of you were waiting for updates from me regarding this thing.
What about your comics? Did you quit the idea of making more?
No, of course I haven't. In the last months I drew many panels from different pieces of the story (I see all of them as a whole project) and I have more than one chapter in progress, but I seem to never be 100% satisfied with anything lately, that's why I am struggling and not posting a single thing... I am really sorry for that, but yes, my block is going to end eventually and I'll be back.
For everyone who may need this, I'm sending a big hug! <3
Continuing with the Digimon Adventure characters in The Sims 4, here's a look at their appearances, personalities, profiles and the homes they live in.

The lot has a fully equipped laboratory, a barbecue area, and a swimming pool, and its lot traits are Fast Internet, Science Lair, and Study Spot, making it the perfect place to work on digital world projects, a fun spot for the chosen, and an ideal home for Koushiro.
Obviously I used cheats to build this house, which is basically a collection of gallery downloads.
Mimi Tachikawa
Life Stage: Young Adult
Status: Single
Lives with: Wallace (Teen) and Michael (Young Adult), both created by Ale @emme-y
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Interpersonal, Sense of Humor; Characteristics - Funny, High Energy, Optimistic, Spirited; Romance Style - Affection, Flirting, Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy, Wohoo
Mimi's house is on a 30x20 lot with traits like Convivial, Chef's Kitchen, and Singles Hangout. It's a warm, social home perfect for cooking, entertaining friends and relaxing with her roommates. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with Mimi's being private. This used to be the Pancakes family house (sims 4 stuff) but I evicted them and moved in this team USA and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly for them.
But that's not all… the house has a basement level where, suspiciously, Wallace likes to be (I had no idea this level existed until Wallace went out of sight and when I looked for him, I found him there).
Likes: Hobbies & Skills - Research & Debate; Colors - Blue, Gray, Green, Red, White, Yellow; Music - Japanese Folk Music
Dislikes: Music - Spooky
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Academic, Career Minded, Interpersonal, Sense of Humor; Characteristic - Family Motivated, Funny, Romance Enthusiasts; Romance Styles - Affection, Flirting, Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy, Wohoo
The Kido house is on a 40x30 lot with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the lot has a garden with a barbecue area, and the lot traits are Convivial, Study Spot, and Peace and Quiet, creating the perfect space for Joe and his brothers to focus on their studies, enjoy some quiet time and hang out with friends.
All of them live in Willow Creek. Taichi, Hikari, Koushiro, Miyako, Daisuke, and Ken are in the Foundry Cove neighborhood, while Yamato, Takeru, Sora, Joe, Mimi, Wallace, Michael, and Iori live in Courtyard Lane. The neighborhoods are next to each other so they run into each other pretty often.
To make my life easier and let the relationships flow, I made them all at least acquaintances, but in most cases I maxed out their friendship (100), and in others where I felt the character doesn't interact much, I left it at 50 or 30-10.
As I keep playing, those relationships will rise or fall depending on the chemistry between them.
It was a huge job to make them in a few days, I'm sure I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for Ale's help who actually came up with this idea and had already started with several characters like Miyako and her family, Daisuke and Jun, Ken, then Yamato and Takeru, Iori and his grandfather, and Wallace and Michael.
So it's been really fun, the interactions have been amusing and curious given the personalities we assigned and all the random stuff the game throws in. I'm letting them act autonomously but with an already established friendship as I explained in the previous post, with advanced careers for the adults and based on several of the Digimon Adventure series including Beyond, as well as my own headcanons which explains their different appearances, outfits and professions.
For the past few days I've been playing The Sims 4 in a super fun way thanks to my dear friend Ale @emme-y who told me she was playing TS4 and created several Digimon Adventure characters. She shared her gameplay with me and it was so fun to read that I wanted to join the game.
I have to say that the interactions in my game between them have been lore accurate, this has made me realize that these characters are definitely designed to resonate with each other.
I'll describe the traits, likes, dislikes, careers and personal dynamics of each character in detail.
Taichi Yagami
Life Stage: Young Adult
Status: Single
Pet: Miko
Lives with: Hikari and Miko
Aspiration: Athletic - Extreme Sports Enthusiast
Traits: High Metabolism, Bro, Outgoing, Adventurous
Degree: Economics
Career: Politician - Representative
Skills: Charisma, Fitness, Logic, Research & Debate
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Arts & Crafts, Culinary, Health & Sports, Highly Skilled, Sense of Humor; Characteristics - Ambitious, Artsy, Family Motivated, Funny, Hardworking, High Energy, Nature Enthusiast, Optimistic, Spirited; Romance Style - Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy, Woohoo
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Highly Skilled; Characteristics - Family Motivated, Pet Enthusiast, Optimistic; Romance Styles - Affection, Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy
Turn Offs: Way of Life - Slacker; Characteristics - Argumentative, Egotistical, Messy.
Miko (Yagami's Cat)
Traits: Curious, Glutton, Playful.
The Yagami house is on a 20x15 lot with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, where Taichi is the adult paying the rent and Hikari is a teenage student.
I also added some lot traits to give it a digital world vibe with Convivial, On Hallowed Grounds, and Homey, plus a couple of challenges like Spooky and Quake Zone.
Sora Takenouchi
Life Stage: Young Adult
Status: Single
Lives with: Alone
Aspiration: Love - Soulmate
Traits: Alluring, Adventurous, Loyal, Family Oriented
Degree: Art History
Career: Style Influencer - Best Self Helper (I would've loved to give her a career as a traditional japanese fashion designer but the game doesn't have something that specific)
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Arts & Crafts, Career Minded, Health & Sports, Highly Skilled, Performer, Sense of Humor; Characteristics - Ambition, Artsy, Clean, Family Motivated, Funny, Hardworking, High Energy, Nature Enthusiast, Optimistic, Romance Enthusiasts, Spirited; Romance Styles - Affection, Flirting, Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy, Woohoo
Turn Offs: Way of Life - Slacker; Characteristics - Ambitionless, Argumentative, Egotistical, Emotional Decision Makers, Messy, Pessimistic.
Note: I made Sora family oriented because she cares deeply about her loved ones, but she's an independent woman who does what she enjoys.
Sora's house is also on a 20x15 lot with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, where she lives alone and covers her expenses with her job (I used a money cheat here because the living/dining area is a bit luxurious).
Yamato Ishida (original by Ale, 30% edited by me)
Life Stage: Young Adult
Status: Single
Lives with: Takeru
Aspiration: Creativity - Musical Genius
Traits: Muser, Creative, Music Lover, Heart on Your Sleeve ¹
Dislikes: Hobbies & Skills - Mischief; Music - Spooky
Turn Ons: Way of Life - Career Minded, Health & Sports, Highly Skilled, Interpersonal, Sense of Humor; Characteristics - Ambitious, Family Motivated, Funny, Hardworking, High Energy, Homebody, Optimistic, Romance Enthusiasts, Spirited; Romance Style - Affection, Gift Giving, Physical Intimacy, Woohoo
Turn Offs: Way of Life - Slacker; Characteristics - Ambitionless, Argumentative, Emotional Decision Makers, Pessimistic.
Note: My 30% is that I added the degree, career, skills, turn-ons/offs, dislikes, expanded the likes, and changed the "Hotheaded" trait to "Heart on Your Sleeve" from the current login event.
Takeru Takaishi (original by Ale, 10% edited by me)
Turn ons: Way of Life - Arts & Crafts, Interpersonal, Nature, Sense of Humor; Characteristics - Family Motivated, Funny, Nature Enthusiast, Optimistic; Romance Style - Affection, Flirting, Physical Intimacy, Mess Around
Note: My 10% is that I added the skills and turn ons/offs.
The Ishida-Takaishi house was also created by Ale and is on a 30x20 lot with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, where Yamato is the adult paying the bills and Takeru is a teenage student.
Taichi and Hikari live close to Miyako, Ken and Daisuke, while Yamato and Takeru live a bit more isolated from the group and close to Sora.
I let the relationship of Hikari and Miyako follow the natural flow of the game and it was incredibly easy for them to meet and get along SUPER well within just a few minutes without forcing any interactions.
Ken and Miyako (made by Ale) practically arrived at Hikari's house at the same time, which is how they met. They're teens, live in different houses and in my game their first meeting happened simultaneously with meeting Hikari.
In the cases of Taichi, Yamato, Sora, Takeru and Hikari I did use cheats to max out the friendship bar to 100 but all the memories and the chemistry between them have flowed naturally. I'm not forcing their interactions, they're autonomously building their bonds in the game on top of an already established friendship.
This has been super fun!! Thank you Ale for this so fun idea and for the inspiration you gave me to interact with these characters through the sims 4.
Update: Since I improved the character profiles in the most recent post with the rest of the characters, I revisited this one too separating aspirations from traits, adding degrees and skills, and removing the relationships section because I set everyone up with a base friendship. I also made some changes to the houses, but for this post I'm only updating the Yagami house, where I also had to change the Cat Hangout trait because Miko was having a hard time with groups of stray cats showing up and bothering her, so I switched it to Homey.
¹ "Heart on Your Sleeve": These Sims are driven by strong emotions, whose honesty reveal internal conflicts. They quickly form bonds with Loyal and similar Sims, but they develop negative relationships faster with Mean or Evil Sims.
In Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning, Rui is presented as the first human to come into direct contact with a digimon without any mediation from the usual system of the chosen children, a screen, or a global crisis in the human and digital worlds. I take this with a grain of salt because the chosen children aren't reliable narrators and no one fully understands the rules of such a fluctuating world as the digital one.
Ukkomon appears at a critical moment in Rui's life when he's hurt, cold and alone. It happens on his 4th birthday apparently as a result of his wish not to be alone. Its appearance introduces the idea that a digimon bond can begin from a human desire.
From that point on, what forms between them is the fulfillment of an unfiltered request, which makes Rui the origin of an anomaly within the logic of Digimon Adventure, because his connection with Ukkomon come from personal lack.
The contact takes place on February 29, 1996 when Ukkomon appears in front of him and offers to grant his wish of having many friends around the world and constant care and protection, which sets off a chain of effects where Rui's life improves artificially as his surroundings are reshaped to remove pain and absence. But that improvement is a simulation sustained by the Ukkomon, interpreting the wish as a literal command and carrying it out without understanding its consequences.
Rui says Ukkomon can grant wishes and that it's connected to a "great being", and that raises the question of what that "great being" actually is, because if it were Homeostasis as Hikari suggests, it doesn't quite fit since Homeostasis is tied to balance and Rui's situation was completely unbalanced, which supports Miyako's idea that this could be something unique to "the first" human-digimon bond.
Maybe the "great being" is something ancient that predates Homeostasis, or even Homeostasis itself using Rui as a prototype for an early test of human-digimon bonding.
When Rui realizes his happiness isn't real and that his family and surroundings are being held together by Ukkomon (possibly through its technique Liar Dream), the relationship breaks violently as Rui tries to destroy it and Ukkomon accepts the damage without resistance, until Rui screams that he never asked for any of it, that Ukkomon doesn't understand him or even know him, which causes Ukkomon to dissolve, turn into a digiegg and quickly disappear in front of him when he's 11 in 2003, the same day Omegamon was defeated by Diaboromon and Imperialdramon Paladin Mode appeared.
9 years later, on February 21, 2012, Ukkomon reappears as a giant digiegg above the Tokyo Tower, broadcasting a message across every digital screen in the world that reads:
"May everyone in the world have friends. May they each have a Digimon."
No one understands what this anomaly is until a week later Rui climbs the Tokyo Tower trying to make contact with the digiegg but fails, and is rescued by Stingmon, which leads the others to learn about his situation and decide to help him.
When Daisuke steps in to support Rui, Ken joins him and together they take Rui toward the digiegg with the help of Paildramon, but Rui is then pulled by a force into what seems like a spatial dimension where Daisuke, Ken, V-mon and Wormmon also end up. This space reveals Rui's past and shows what I mentioned at the beginning.
From my perspective, this wasn't literal time travel since the passage of time outside didn't match what they experienced inside as Miyako, Hikari, Iori, and Takeru point out, but rather a kind of spatial dimension or simulated environment meant to make Rui confront the origin of his bond with Ukkomon.
In the middle of the crisis on Rui's 20th birthday (February 29, 2012), with BigUkkomon creating billions of digieggs so every human can have a digimon, Takeru hesitates and suggests that if Ukkomon was the one who originated the bonds, then destroying it could mean losing their own, which shows that even those who have already lived through and built their relationships still carry the idea that the bond might depend on an external origin rather than on what they have built themselves.
When Rui and Ukkomon finally talk, they both realize that they never really knew each other and that what existed between them was a misinterpreted desire. From that moment on, the human-digimon bond is seen as something that exists when there's mutual recognition, a real conversation between both sides and a continuous connection between two minds/hearts that influence and understand each other (this was already quite clear in Kizuna but it's given much more emphasis here).
And that connects directly with the final resolution when Takeru says that digivices and programs aren't what bind humans and digimon, but that this connection depends on a direct relationship between the two, which corrects his earlier doubt.
"There are things that change with time. There are things that at times seem right, but there's no guarantee these won't change. By releasing its grip on important bonds, a story merely followed a journey into a predetermined future came to an end. Thus, the firm, heavy shackles were cut away, and the world took its first step toward new possibilities."
The final narration reinforces that idea, since bonds aren't fixed structures but living relationships that can change, break, or be redefined, and that's where the "new possibility" emerges (02 epilogue).
Hiroyuki Kakudou, the director of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, shared on his blog a personal story about a near fatal heart attack last year that required emergency surgery, saying the experience made him rethink projects he hadn't published. In a recent post he said he's been doing much better since his surgery and rehabilitation and his health has improved.
He's now releasing the story of Digimon Adventure 13+, created for fans who weren't satisfied with the previous movies 02 The Beginning, Last Evolution Kizuna and Tri, which also inspired the 2025 PV Digimon Adventure Beyond.
13+ is set in 2013 and the beginning of Beyond takes place two years earlier (2011), showing what happened before the events that come later in the main story. 13+ develops scenes from Beyond, introduces more characters and explores ideas about how the digital world interacts with the real world and parallel universes, tying in with ideas from the original series.
Kakudou decided to share this material now because, while it was already completed, Toei has no plans to release it officially, so sharing it now allows us to see and understand more of the world he's been building.
I haven't read the two parts he published yet but based on my experience with 02, which felt like a mix of many ideas that didn't always connect and led to that very utopian epilogue without much sense, I can see why Toei might not want to make this official. Still, I'm curious to see his pov and how he interprets the characters from Tri, LEK and 02 The Beginning, even if I'm a bit cautious about how the execution will turn out.
So far, he has published 13+ Part 1 and 13+ Part 2, and I also saw last night that withthewill is posting an english version, which may contain some errors but can help get a sense of what's been released.
We'll have to keep an eye on Kakudou's blog and follow this personal project.
Update: Kakudou has now published 13+ Part 3 and confirmed this is the final part of the story. He also said he's planning to release a compiled version later including additional details not shown in Beyond.
In Digimon Adventure we see that the bond between humans and Digimon in the case of the original 8 chosen children comes from the mission to restore the balance of the Digital World, which had been disrupted by darkness. It's a bond that's directly tied to a system stabilizing function.
02 shows that there are more chosen children all over the world, though not all of them are connected to that same mission or even know about the Digital World, so the bond can exist without that function of restoring balance.
Hurricane Touchdown showed with Chocomon that Digimon can be reborn and that their bond can be reestablished.
In Tri it's shown that bonds are maintained as long as they fit within the balance of the Digital World, and when they stop fitting, the system acts to readjust or reset that stability.
In Last Evolution Kizuna we see that the bond exists as long as both share a path or a mutual need in their lives, and when that disappears, the bond fades even though there's still affection.
The original 8 chosen children are more closely tied to the initial function of balance in the Digital World, so their bond is more sensitive to changes in that condition. Takeru and Hikari, as part of the 02 generation follow a different pattern where the bond doesn't depend on that mission.
From that logic, Taichi, Agumon and the others will meet again when the conditions align once more (I still have hopes for another Digimon Adventure movie or series).
It doesn't matter if in 02 The Beginning the digivices are removed if it's understood that they originally form part of a system that regulates digivolution through the bond, but they're not essential either for the bond or for digivolution itself.
And, since the 02 epilogue suggests that coexistence between humans and Digimon is already stable, there'll come a point where the bond no longer depends on external control like Homeostasis or on a crisis such as the imbalance caused by darkness in the Digital World.
To reach that future of the 02 epilogue… will Diplomat Taichi have managed to "negotiate" any peace treaty?
In 1995 a Digiegg appeared through the computer of Taichi and Hikari and eventually digivolved into Greymon during the Parrotmon incident in the human world. Taichi, Hikari and Greymon contributed to resolving the situation.
After that incident, "Homeostasis" analyzed what had occurred and scanned those children who showed resonance with the event. From that data it identified specific inner traits that had a direct influence on Digimon evolution and behavior.
That analysis led Homeostasis to create their Digivices and Crests, each one linked to the strongest qualities those children had at that moment in their lives. These artifacts were meant to connect those traits with digivolution and keep it stable. But they aren't strictly necessary as seen later in 02 in the Dark Ocean where Tailmon digivolves into Angewomon without them.
So Digivices and Crests work as systems that guide how those traits are expressed during evolution, supporting evolution and helping prevent unstable or destructive outcomes when those traits aren't properly applied, though this system isn't fully reliable as seen in cases like SkullGreymon. Their purpose is to maintain balance within the Digital World when darkness becomes stronger than the system can control.
Tri has a very divided reception with both strong support and strong criticism. Many of the most common complaints come from elements that are straightforward, which makes it worth looking at the series from a different angle.
From the beginning, Tri frames its premise with the lines:
"Demiurge, the soulless creator... Idea, the true form of the world..."
These ideas come from gnostic and platonic philosophy, where the Demiurge is a creator working within limits, and the Idea refers to the complete form of things.
The Digital World exists under a system that defines its limits, and everything inside it is shaped by those limits. The corruption in the Digimon is part of how those limits affect what can exist.
When the text refers to the Idea as the true form of the world, it means things have a complete version of what they are, but inside the Digital World they appear in reduced form because they are constrained by that framework.
Applied to Tri, this is seen in the Digital World, the Digimon, and the bonds between partners, which all struggle to exist fully within the conditions that shape them.
Think of it like trying to draw a dog you can clearly picture in your mind, but you're limited by the tools and the surface you're working on. The image in your mind is complete but what ends up on the page is a simplified version of it. In the same way, the Digital World can only show limited versions of things because everything inside it has to fit within the limits of the system.
In this sense:
1) infected Digimon behave as something the system can no longer keep stable within its defined structure.
2) bonds between Humans and Digimon become unstable as doubts, distance, or misalignment appear.
3) the Digital World is an environment that doesn't behave consistently, without any clear way to stabilize it.
Corrupted binary data, space warps, and the appearance of soulless replicas like Imperialdramon point to a world breaking down from within.
It may also be that Gennai has been messing with the system's code again following the same logic he described during 02, where alterations affected how Digimon related information persisted in human memory and perception. If that pattern is still active here, it would also help explain why most people seem to forget or partially remember what happened despite the scale of these events.

<<< END OF 02 FLASHBACK >>>
Libra is an anomaly within the code sealed within Meicoomon from her origin. It functions as a preserved dataset from the Digital World prior to its reboot, including records from destructive entities such as Apocalymon.
This data was encrypted inside her without awareness or capacity to contain it. Meicoomon wasn't designed to carry such a burden, and her inherent instability made her unable to process it without distortion, causing her condition to collapse into irregular behavior. The virus also spread to other Digimon that came into contact or close proximity with her spreading like an epidemic as she kept escaping from Meiko.
Libra is a consequence of a system that embedded all data from the Digital World within a host that couldn't sustain it.
Meiko is Meicoomon's partner and struggles to understand her role, since she was never given guidance or the kind of journey the original chosen children went through in the Digital World years earlier. She tries to help her partner, even when she begins to associate herself with the instability around her.
Yggdrasil in Tri is a controlling intelligence of the Digital World that manifests through avatars such as Dark Gennai and the tri-Digimon Kaiser rather than direct presence. Through them, it pushes actions like the escalation of global instability, creating conditions that lead toward the Digital World reboot carried out by Homeostasis. It also exploits Maki Himekawa's grief over the loss of Bakumon by leading her to manage "Project R" and presenting the reboot as a way to make that reunion possible. This reboot restarts the Digital World and returns Digimon to their base state, restoring those who had been lost while erasing memory data and the bonds they formed with their human partners, allowing Digimon to exist freely and ultimately enabling the expansion of control over multiple worlds, including the Human World and other connected dimensions. This logic ties back to its origin as Yggdrasil, the world tree that connects multiple realms, reinterpreted in Tri as a central structure meant to maintain order across connected dimensions.
However, its operation falls under the regulatory framework of Homeostasis, so when Yggdrasil pushes its logic too far and breaks the conditions required for equilibrium, it can be shut down as implied at the end of Tri when Homeostasis orders its disconnection.
If you want to know more about Yggdrasil, it's worth reading So Who the Hell is Yggdrasil Anyway: A breakdown, which covers its different roles across the franchise and provides broader context beyond Tri.
Alphamon appears as an independent entity when something exceeds what the Digital World can handle, resolving the situation by removing what can't be contained, and it doesn't respond to motives or alliances, as its way of operating simply aligns with outcomes that restore a stable state, which may benefit certain parties.
Headcanon: the fall of the 02 team at the hands of Alphamon was probably collateral damage, in the context that they would've tried to intervene in the Digimon infection crisis and the situation would've escalated so much that they ended up within the area of instability that Alphamon removes without distinction to restore balance, like when Taichi falls into the abyss after the crack that opens during the fight between Alphamon, Jesmon, Omegamon and Meicoomon.
Jesmon / Huckmon acts as a messenger of Homeostasis, responding to signs of instability across the Digital World, especially in cases like Meicoomon. It doesn't act as hope or salvation but as a controlled measure against collapse.
Homeostasis in Tri operates as a balancing mechanism within the Digital World, restoring order when instability reaches a critical point. Its actions aren't guided by moral judgment but by the need to reestablish equilibrium, and it manifests through vessels such as Hikari, as well as intermediaries like Gennai and Jesmon.
In Digimon Adventure, following the Greymon and Parrotmon incident in 1995, Homeostasis scanned the chosen children and identified within them key traits that became the Crests, forming a framework for bonds between humans and Digimon, intended to enable evolution toward the Perfect level through those traits and maintain stability across both worlds.
In Tri, Homeostasis attempts to contain the Libra in Meicoomon by assigning Meiko as a chosen child. Although partial stability is achieved, the situation eventually escalates beyond control, leading Homeostasis to initiate a full system reboot.
The reboot was an emergency measure after the infection destabilized the system to a critical level, forcing Homeostasis to execute a full reset as a last resort to restore balance.
This process resulted in the loss of Digimon memories since identity data wasn't preserved during the reboot, a condition Homeostasis considered necessary to stabilize Libra.
The decision wasn't driven by malice but by structural limitation, as Homeostasis operates through systemic parameters where bonds are treated as variables within stability equations rather than factors defined by affect or moral value.
The reboot didn't resolve the Libra anomaly in Meicoomon because it wasn't a surface level corruption but a structural irregularity embedded within her data profile. System reboots can restore global stability, but they can't remove anomalies that are intrinsic to a host's core configuration.
But even without memory, the bonds reappear because the humans remain the same as before the reboot and the Digimon retain the same data they once resonated with. So when Taichi and Agumon meet again, they don't build something new from nothing but return to a pattern already established through their original bond, even if Agumon can't consciously remember it.
One of the most common criticisms of Tri is the absence of the 02 team. From the start, it's clear that this absence is a deliberate narrative choice rather than something omitted or forgotten.
The offscreen defeat of Daisuke, Ken, Miyako and Iori by Alphamon reinforces this shift in focus. While it may feel like the story should develop 12 chosen children alongside their Digimon and an already expanded new cast, including Meiko, Maki Himekawa, Daigo Nishijima, Homeostasis, Yggdrasil, Jesmon, Alphamon… I don't think it's realistic to expect that, especially in an OVA format. The story tried to stay centered on the original group and their current state of dispersion, identity and doubt.
This kind of focus isn't unfamiliar within the franchise. Previous entries such as Hurricane Touchdown and then 02 The Beginning also operate without the full original cast and function as complete stories without requiring everyone to be present.
Although I can understand that their absence feels abrupt with Alphamon defeating them early on and no friends or family raising alarms despite them being missing for months, especially during a period of viral crisis related to Digimon, it still comes across as a narrative choice to focus on the original chosen children, even if the execution isn't polished.
For a better experience watching Tri, it helps to approach it in chapters since platforms like Crunchyroll often split it into episodes and that makes the pacing easier to follow. It also helps to have seen Digimon Adventure, Our War Game, 02, Hurricane Touchdown and Diaboromon Strikes Back beforehand because Tri is directly connected to the events established in those stories. Choosing the original Japanese audio with subtitles can also make a difference since some dubbed versions alter nuances, while the original voice acting reflects more of the creators' intended tone and meaning.
