I began this edit back in April and never finished it. I doubt I'll ever finish it at this point (blame it on my ADHD), so I figured I'll upload what I have of it at least. Honestly, when I first thought of this song with this series, I was imagining it with different scenes later in the series, mainly the (spoilers!!) 3 year time skip part, from Tsubaki's perspective, but I ended up making something more along the lines of Nao's perspective from the first few volumes. Oh well! It turns out it's a lot of effort to go through a whole manga series to find just the right images. I haven't made an MMV in a decade, so forgive me! I learned a lot of new skills!

one cute thing in nanae haruno’s double house is the way it relates cis and trans womanhood with old and new money. fujiko’s relationship to feminine presentation/culture even womanhood is very similar to her relationship to money, she’s always had it and she either is indifferent or rejecting, disrespecting towards it. to her these things only represent the chains they pushed on her. while maho is the opposite. her breaking of chains was toward femininity and to her it represents freedom. similar to money, she loves opulence and glamour as much as femininity.

their perfect match for each other is visualised through this dichotomy in the shopping scene where maho is shy to step into the luxury dress store. seemingly feeling that both the pinnacle of femininity and of wealth it represents somehow aren’t for her despite her prestige. fujiko however has no gualms about stepping into the store. she doesn’t respect these institutions yet through maho’s love for them gets to understand their worth beyond being oppressive structures. and through her indifference maho even more realises her rightful claim to them.
