Can I make a really sad nostalgic post about IKON again? As some of you may or may not know, they used to be my bias group. The events of 2019 changed the entire fandom overnight. I was not a Hanbin solo stan but he was so important to the group that everything sort of imploded after he left. I call it the Long Death because that's what it feels like. I know the members are still active and working, which gives me a lot of comfort, but it will always have this bittersweet edge to it all.

I got so sad today when I realised just how many old ikon tumblrs simply stopped posting or the users made a conscious decision to leave both the fandom and tumblr. It's seriously so sad looking at the time stamps of their last posts.

Anyway, if you are/were an ikon fan, I hope you are having a good day today and it would be nice to reminisce with anyone who wants to cry about it, haha.

All this iKON news is happening so fast. So as of now, they have signed with a domestic korean agency that is currently undisclosed. Deep deep deep deep down inside I hope it's 131 label BUT if it's not, I won't be upset. I think I really used to want 6kon to reunite with Hanbin and be 7 again and that would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up. While I love when Hanbin was writing for and performing with the group, the 6 of iKON are still doing an amazing job without him. And vice versa, B.I has been doing excellent things as a solo artist (and tbh I also think that even if Hanbin still holds his members really dear to him as friends, he's grown really comfortable in his freedom as a solo artist to go back to the group dynamic). Even if they don't reunite as 7, I think an iKON & B.I collaboration would be really cool, or a Double B project. But even if THAT doesn't happen, I think I would still be really happy knowing that iKON and B.I could meet in public, socialize freely, take pictures together, etc. If only that were to happen, I would be totally content.

Breaking: iKON To Leave YG Entertainment

YG Entertainment has announced that all six members of iKON will be leaving the agency.

On December 30, YG Entertainment released the following statement announcing iKON’s departure:

Hello, this is YG Entertainment.

We are informing you that after a long discussion with the iKON members (Kim Jinhwan, Bobby, Song Yunhyeong, Goo Junhoe, Kim Donghyuk, and Jung Chanwoo) about their future activities, out of respect for each other’s opinions, we agreed to end our exclusive contract following the expiration of their contract period.

The six members of iKON will of course be continuing their activities as the group “iKON” in the future, and we are also letting you know that they will continue to communicate with iKONIC [iKON’s fans] through their official social media accounts, including their official fan community Weverse, just as they are now.

We sincerely thank iKON, who has been with us as one of our agency’s artists up until now. We are looking forward to their future activities in a wide variety of fields, and we will be cheering them on.

Additionally, we also thank the iKONIC who were together with us for iKON’s journey. We ask that you continue to give the members your unchanging interest and encouragement as they prepare for a new start.

iKON first debuted as a seven-member group under YG Entertainment in 2015. In 2019, the group’s then-leader B.I left both iKON and the agency.
