CLOTHING - 

when it comes to his wardrobe I’d say river is rather particular on what he wears and how presents himself. for work he works what anyone in an office would wear, shirt and trousers and whatnot. he runs pretty hot so he only forces himself into jackets and a vest etc. when he has a meeting. 

his regular out-and-about wardrobe isn’t that different from his work attire. the colour palette a bit more varied but little changed. you have to force him into jeans, honestly. 

when he’s relaxing it’s the good ol’ sweats and t-shirt/vest combo. and then shorts and t-shirt/vest when exercising.

GROOMING / HAIR

now that is something he is meticulous about - his hair especially. if it doesn’t get styled then river has the worst (best) fluffy bedhead. it’s a daily fight in the bathroom to make it listen to him. the same goes with his body hair and general grooming - with body hair and such, river prefers he not have it. he runs hot, he can get sweaty, it feels gross, and he doesn’t feel himself otherwise. 

appearance is another aspect of river’s life that he likes to have control over. if he controls how he looks, he can perceive himself and let other people perceive him how he wants to be perceived.

the  Doctor  GRABBED  her  hand  &&  pulled  her  out  of  the  way  behind  a  pillar  .  “  who’s  firing  at  you  now  ?  ”  he  asked  as  three  shots  of  a  laser  went  WHIZZING  past  them  hitting  the  wall  in  front  .  &&  to  think  that  could  have  been  them  .  pulling  her  out  of  the  way  ,  the  Doctor  moved  quickly  .

        the doctor arrives a whole day early—(she thinks)—and dressed for a proper evening out with the wife. she’s got plans. great plans! as good as the singing towers, at least, and without the sad knowledge of an ending yet to come. she is absolutely determined for this to be a night worth remembering no matter how much space and time might grow between them, and so the doctor makes a real show of landing the tardis, stepping out with a grin and a flourish. 

       “hello, sweetie!” she greets, cheeky, and apparently without any concept of just how little the phrase works when she says it. “c’mon, i’ve got the whole night planned! don’t worry about changing, there’s a rack set aside for you to choose from—and don’t worry, i had the tardis pick 'em out.” it’s only now that the doctor registers the look on river’s face, and her smile dims slightly. “oh, no, no, no. i haven’t missed it again have i? i made reservations! special ones! fifteen years ago!”

"I'm coming over in ten minutes. I need your help, and trust me, you are going to love it."

He texts her this, waits, and heads over, a delighted grin spread across his face. "Dalek murder. You're an archaeologist. I know what kills Daleks and you can help me find it," he says immediately, biting his lower lip with barely restrained glee as a giggle escapes him. "I've just installed some excellent point defense cannons. Want to see?"

It's out of nowhere, of course. The last time River had seen the Master, she had been Missy, dropping breadcrumbs on a trail that supposedly meant to lead to how she had escaped the Library. It had led down a rabbit hole of Gallifreyan lore - fascinating, certainly, to learn of Pythia, but it seemed completely irrelevant to what had happened to River. Missy had almost immediately dropped off the map, but - there had obviously been some sort of mishap, judging by his current appearance and the fact that he somehow had a ship again.

"Also, can you help me fix the brakes? The Doctor stole it a bit ago and it keeps doing the thing intermittently and I hate it."
