Applause. It was a sound that the Håkansson family heard far too often. They were a family who had built their success through the means of hard work and a belief in their abilities. Once meeting in Uppsala university, back in Sweden, Erik and Klara had always been business partners before lovers. Their friendship only grew from their admiration for one another’s dedication to their craft and hard work but that wasn’t all… Their attraction to one another was only enhanced by the fact that they both shared supernatural abilities - they were psychics. Erik is an Empath, Klara is a Psychometric, two people who are able to connect with things and the people around them so intensely that they were able to gain a greater understanding of the world they live in.
With the connection that he had as an Empath, Erik was a man who had a vision. One that, if carefully planned and executed, would take the world by storm and that it did. The business man began to build his own empire, one that in essence, ran itself from the amount of sales he had generated that he even began investing into other businesses that were in a similar market. For Klara, her vision was of an artistic nature. She enjoyed painting, admired the artistic work of others and began to interpret those works to share with others. An art curator was the best field of business for her.
When the two were married, they settled and began raising their family in the comfortable town of Danderyd, located north from Stockholm in Sweden. Iris is the middle child of five, though that isn’t to say that her light was overshadowed by her siblings. Sure, she might have been quieter especially given that each of her siblings also had a psychic gift that they had to learn to master that required their already busy parents’ attention, but she managed well. Her gift didn’t require an outward need for control, it wasn’t about letting the gift in and accepting for Iris, it was about blocking it out. Telepathy was quite the practical joke for the redhead, who found herself overwhelmed frequently by the amount of voices that would fill her mind whilst walking down a crowded street, yet she would also hear the words that were coming out of a person’s mouth. Her technique for dealing with such an invasive quality was to train herself to block it out. She would avoid those busy places unless she absolutely had to be exposed to them or she would stay in her room, close her eyes and breathe… Suddenly her mind would be calm and the voices would stop.
In school, Iris excelled in her classes and didn’t fall behind when her parents made the decision to make the big move to the United States. A distant relative of one of the founding families of Norfolk, Klara was keen to know more of her heritage and had always enjoyed visiting the small town in the past. It gave her the chance to open up her own art gallery by the name of ‘One Moment’ situated in The Village at Seaview.
Iris’ interests were picked up in her woodshop classes where she became fascinated with creation. She would map out her design and then go on to create the exact thing that her mind envisioned. She was proud of herself. Proud of her creativity and handiwork that architecture immediately became the right path for her. She became fascinated with buildings, travelled and saw the most beautifully crafted structures to ever exist and was committed to bettering the town that she currently lived in… one day.
So she studied, made a career for herself, made friends and continuously blocked out the intrusive nature of her telepathic gift until one day, Iris woke up one morning without any indication that her life was about to change forever. Her brother may have seen it coming since he had called her in the middle of the night asking if she were alright, to which Iris told him to go back to sleep and rolled over again.
As she awoken at the sound of her alarm, Iris picked up her phone, only to find that she couldn’t read the time on her screen. She blinked, blinked again - but the blurred vision took its time to grant her sight again. For the duration of that morning, everything seemed to be fine until she was walking on the streets of Norfolk and found that her sight began to worsen once again, so much so that she could barely see her hands that were right in front of her.
She would later learn that a disease that Iris could barely pronounce was claiming her vision, her green eyes would be nothing more for others to look at, yet she cannot look back. It was devastating. How could a woman so young be subjected to a cruel fate? When her career relied so heavily on her ability to expose the vision that she had in her mind. She could feel the pencil between her finger and thumb, brush her palm over the soft surface of blank paper but how was she to convey those thoughts?
Thoughts. Interestingly, Iris found herself trying something one day. Her vision was quickly deteriorating and she hadn’t even told anyone about it just yet. In one last desperate attempt, she broke down that blockage that she had built so many years ago and listened to the thoughts of the person beside her. On the surface, their primary thoughts were nonsense, things that Iris had no interest in but beneath the surface laid the thoughts that only the mechanical functions of their brain were acknowledging. The tap of their fingers on a dark oak counter, the heat that lightly brushed against their fingers from a coffee mug. She listened and she could see. Practice was essential but it may not have bee much but Iris doesn’t know any other way to keep herself up, without concerning everyone around her. This is her battle and she is prepared to fight for it.

Frankie Khang Writing sample:
( i was thinking this could be based a couple years ago before she moved to norfolk or maybe when she was quite young :) )
Her back was against the cool metal of her Mike’s van, eyes looking to and fro on the screen as her fingers rapidly clicked away on her keyboard but no matter how much she concentrated on her ‘work’ there was something… distracting her. The sound of wet, disgusting kisses could be heard just outside the realm of her earphones and, upon glancing over the lid of her laptop, she found Mike and his woman of the week in an intense liplock, grinding against one another. Gross. Within that moment, the woman’s eyes seemed to find hers and Frankie rose her brows at her.
“Babe..” The desperate lady breathed out as she pulled away from Mike, “She’s staring at us.” She whispered.
Frankie tilted her head at her, “Oh I’m sorry -” She started, sarcasm dripping from her voice, “Am I making you uncomfortable?” The woman frowned at her and Mike sighed, “Frankie, how long did you say this was gonna take again?”By this point, Frankie had looked back down at her screen again as she replied, “Considering I’m the one that paid you to use this hotspot - which by the way, is fucking shit - I don’t think you’re in any position to rush me.” She knew that the woman was getting impatient and possibly rolled her eyes, “Clearly you’re going through some kind of dry spell if you’re willing to go down in a van.” She mumbled. “The fuck did you say?!” The woman snapped, to which Frankie looked up again, addressing Mike now, “Well, shit, Mike. This one has lady balls, congrats! I’m impressed."
It seemed that she had successfully ruined the moment because Mike picked up his companion and placed her to the side, a sly smirk pulling on Frankie’s lips as she looked back down at her screen again. Mike leaned forward, rubbing his hands together, "Anything I can do to help?” Frankie scoffed, shaking her head but neglected to look up at him this time, “If I needed your help, I would have given my laptop to a donkey or something..” And, just like that, she had reached what she was looking for. Slamming the lid of her laptop, she then stuffed the device in her side bag, “Well lovebirds, I best be going since I would rather suffocate myself, bleach my eyes or make myself sick than watch this any longer.” She got to her feet as Mike got up and slid the door open for her. Frankie hopped down, turning twirling on her feet round to him, “Wear a condom.” She teased, the only appropriate response to that being him flipping her off and sliding the door close again.

Biography:
Her story began as a little girl by the name of Adelaide Weston. The daughter of a couple residing in Norfolk. Daisy and Orion met at Norfolk university and believed that they could get through anything and everything as long as they had one another. Their love story was that of a fairy tale. Two people who fell head over heels for one another while they were young, bought a little house together, married on a perfect summer’s day… All of which, were things that Orion was sure was going to happen. How? Because of his psychic ability of precognition. Try as he wanted for these things to be more of a surprise for him, Orion knew that one day he and Daisy would be welcoming a little baby girl by the name of Adelaide Weston.
Unfortunately, their happiness together was short lived. Call it intuition or his psychic ability pushing at the forefront of his mind but Orion just had to rush home from work that day. Something was wrong. Bad. His feeling did not grant him peace or reassure him that there was light at the end of the tunnel. If life had taught him anything, it was that time was a set route, the future - no matter how many twists and turns you attempt to take - was difficult to change. Later, the people of Norfolk would learn that it was a gas leak. One that caused their apartment to catch a blaze just two minutes after Orion stepped foot in the property. Adelaide, who had successfully been caught when thrown to her safety, had been rushed to receive more medical treatment. The impact of the blast caused Daisy to fall into unconsciousness and despite knowing that their odds were against them, Orion wasted no time in his attempts to get the two of them out of the building. Tragically, the two lost their lives in the flames.
With no other living relatives, (that could be located) Adelaide was placed within the care system until such time that she was adopted by Marcus and Annabelle Pine. Her new name? Willow Pine. Human scientists, who were skeptical of the existence of magic, used this adoption as an excuse to study Willow and understand the true nature of her supernatural entity. She was taken back to the bright lights of New York for her upbringing where Willow had been told that she was special, so much so that she needed to be protected from the cruelty in the world. The pair had decided at first that Willow was to be homeschooled as they would then be able to keep a close eye and monitor her behaviour. By the time junior high came around, Willow insisted to be enrolled as the homeschooling felt nothing more than entrapment and she needed a way to escape the confines of her home. Even if that meant having to sneak out whenever her parents attempted to keep her locked away inside.
For any teen going through schooling, it’s a difficult time. Puberty, stress, drama that seems like the worst thing in the world until you grow a little bit older and see that it was nothing at all. For Willow, it was far harder than she could anticipate. Even though she had the confidence and spirit needed to survive high school, nothing could escape her wrath when she got upset. At fourteen, a bad grade sparked a flicker of papers, at sixteen, a heated argument caused the hallway lockers to fly open and at eighteen, a bad break up caused her to break an arm. For the longest time, Willow did her best to try and repress the power that she didn’t at all understand until such time that she found that the power was bigger than her. She became inclusive with herself, not wanting to go out or risk mayhem. It was only when her mother pushed her to speak did Willow let loose, the power that she had built shattering the closest window to them.
That day, her parents spilled the beans of her true nature. That she was adopted, that the suspected that she had a magical entity that they were greatly intrigued by and that she was born in Norfolk, Washington. It was a lot to take, especially learning of the fact that she was in fact adopted but she also knew that she didn’t want to hide from her true self. She wanted to know who she was so her next stop was Norfolk with the hope that perhaps she’ll be able to control her abilities once and for all.

BILLY RUSH APPLICATION!
Call it: Heads or tails?
“Heads.”
The coin was flicked upwards into the air, spinning and turning as the fifty fifty shot was marking Billy’s fate. His heart beat rang in his ears, the business of the bar seemingly fading to nothing as his blue eyes never ceased to stray away from the dancing money. The coin began to descend almost in slow motion until a hand grasped hold of the copper plated zinc that was inscribed with the markings of one cent. The irony of a coin. How little its value upon every day life - it was loose change, something to forget about in the morning or possibly rid off to a homeless man on the street to convince yourself that you’ve done a good deed that day. Yet when faced with a bet - its value rose… So what was it gonna be? Heads or tails?
With a sharp breath, the young man’s eyes snapped open, breathing as though he had been drowning for the last ten minutes. His t-shirt was damp with sweat and stuck to his chest like a bucket of water had been dumped on him. Strands of his hair clung to his face which he pushed away with a hand and rested that palm against his forehead, staring up at the ceiling above.
Once his breathing had calmed, he pushed himself up and reached for the bottle of water that he often kept at his bed side table, especially seeing as these dreams of his had become rather uncontrollable in its contents recently. The next order of his routine was to freshen up - no doubt uncomfortable by the sudden sweat that had projected from his pores and so, made his way to the bathroom. With his fingers gathered at the hem of his shirt, Billy pulled it up and over his head before he proceeded to turn his attention to his bottoms. However, as he was about to pull off the garments, he stopped short - brows furrowing at the touch of a circular shaped object within the cotton. He reached in and pulled out none other than a coin. Copper, worthless to the eye yet managed to instantly capture Billy’s attention. This wasn’t an ordinary coin - that much he was certain about.
Call it: Heads or tails?
“Heads.” Billy mumbled to himself as he flicked the coin up, capturing it on its way down. His hand opened up - it was heads.
Again.
“Heads.” The coin said heads.
“Tails.” The coin said tails.
Over and over again, like a servant obeying his master’s orders. A breath of surprise amusement passed the man’s lips and he brought a hand up to grasp the front of his curly locks in astonishment, “Fuck.” He laughed, shaking his head at the thought.
Never mind the shower now. He rushed over to his desk, pulling open the lid of his laptop and clicked onto a new document for his next story:
With every pull of a crane, every drop of a card or bet that is placed, we believe that the Gods will decide who will be victorious. Some people seem to be luckier than others, or perhaps you’ve danced with the idea that those casinos are bullshit and are rigid from the inside out. I disagree. I believe there is more to this. You just have to find a coin - one that a leprechaun might say ‘a lucky coin’…
As his fingers danced around the keyboard, the coin danced with him. Spinning. Never faltering. So unbelievably perfect that if it refused to stop, eventually, Billy would have to ask himself - is this still all a dream?
I’m pretty sure I just saw CHLOE BENNET in Las Vegas? My mistake, it was just REINA CHEN, who is TWENTY FOUR years old and is a HOTEL MAID.
