Gonna be honest it's really fucking exhausting how supposedly progressive spaces still commodify and fetishize east Asian cultures! I remember the juicedoesthings "orientalism is actually cool and okay and REAL Asians LOVE when you do it!" Post and how many supposedly progressive white people immediately jumped on that as permission to be fucking racist and continue butchering cultures they have a surface level understanding of. You guys see east Asian people as a product and clearly only pretend to give a shit when we speak about it, bc if you actually cared you wouldn't turn your backs as soon as you find this week's "guys I know some of these Asians are sooooo mean to us but don't worry I cherry picked some token Asians to give us all permission!" Essay. Like alright once again we refuse to acknowledge that people who stay in their countries of origin will not have the same racist experiences that an immigrant does. If you look at a Japanese person who has lived in Japan their whole life and go "See! The person who has never experienced this form of oppression and fetishization doesn't care!" You are fucking stupid.
