Welcome home/ Looping animation
Welcome Home Mini- Theory/ Observation
One thing I find a lot of people glossing over this update is the phone in Julie’s house but I think it might have more to it.
When you first click on the phone in Julie’s house it has a different sound to every other scene in her house with all the other playing this eerie music in the background, but when you click on the phone it plays what at first sounds like standard telephone static but then it starts to change. It starts to sound almost like when you turn a dial to catch a signal.
At first I thought it sounded familiar when upon another look through the website I realised that the same sound can be heard when Wally is talking to us on his phone again. When we hear it with Wally he is talking about the radio. What he says in this part is “You have heard of a radio. A radio is like a television, but you can’t see anything. You can only hear voices. Sometimes you turn the dial to hear us. A darling broadcast. You turn the dial to change the voices. Down here it is sometimes hard to hear. But it’s warm and fuzzy… just like static.
This got me to other times we have seen and used phones in Welcome Home like the “it’s for you” telephone toy and the first time Wally communicated with us through his phone in the last update.
On the “it’s for you” phone we can call the residents of Home but when they answer they can’t hear you and think it’s a prank call then hang up on you. At first this seems like a funny joke but then the first call from Wally came the last update and when he knows you can hear him he asks you to talk but then becomes frustrated when you don’t respond.
What I’m trying to say is I think the telephones the neighbours have are radios to the outside to wherever they are and the reason why they can’t hear us is because the signal on their end is too weak, drawn from the line “down here it is sometimes hard to hear. But it’s warm and fuzzy… like static” , and what we are hearing on Julie’s phone is it trying to catch the signal to the other end.
Anyways sorry if this doesn’t make much sense, it’s my first time writing a theory like this and I wasn’t 100% sure on the best way to word it.
Also this might be a bit of a stretch since I found the sound on the phone to sound like the wind in a lot of the skits.
