I think the point here was it would have been ever more (y)angsty if Weiss had seen the scar even if it was just a moment, like I don't know, arriving a second before Adam fell down. What if Weiss then started blaming herself thinking that Adam became that deviated because of what her family did to him? That's angst

Except that’s so convoluted because of everything happening on the cliff at the same time. It would mean Weiss would have to somehow know to go to that waterfall instead of fighting with the others on the cliff. And Weiss being there (for whatever reason) means Blake and Yang don’t get that same private, cathartic moment they had after the fight.

And we’re just starting to get Blake understanding she doesn’t need to take the blame for other people’s actions, so I’m not exactly hoping for Weiss to blame herself for something that happened when she was a child with no power or influence over her father’s actions.

Weiss is very likely to see some other faunus’s brand in the next few volumes, but with the way the arc was written there was no place for her to specifically see Adam’s.
