How bad do we think that “I chose her because I couldn’t imagine we’d ever be friends” hurt? The way Annabeth slightly tilts her head and parts her lips to speak before closing it after realizing nothing’s coming out…I mean, this is the same girl who went way overboard in the gas station buying snacks and drinks. She clearly wanted to smooth over the fact that she didn’t let Percy leave the bus. She wanted to make friends. The way she slowly blinks when he says it before looking down afterwards? Did her eyes sting? Was she embarrassed? Wondering what was so wrong with her that somebody couldn’t stomach the idea of being her friend?

my opinion on problematic hyperfixations:

people cant chose their hyperfixations, but having self awareness is really important.

1. dont monetarily support them (use adblock on youtube, dont buy merch, pirate music)

2. dont give the source material any traffic ( dont recommend it to people, dont interact with the fandom, etc.)

next time you say "ohh its my hyperfix!! i cant control it 🥺🥺" yeah, we know, but that isnt an excuse to support shitty creators.

Percy watches Annabeth throw out random facts with rapid speed and excitement as they look at some weapon used in ancient times in one of the shops in New Rome that Percy can’t be bothered to remember the name of. Her curls fall perfectly as she tosses her head over her shoulder to cast a look at him.

“Percy, are you listening to me?” Annabeth said with a pout.

He couldn’t deny the far away look in his eyes coupled with a goofy grin.

“Absolutely.”

He’d never been a history person. But he’ll always be an Annabeth person.

Percy immediately asking Annabeth “so that’s what you’re doing to me?” After she said she had to “earn” Thalias love implying that he wants to and is planning on earning her love…

The show actually got peak middle school friendship so correct. You just knew Percy and Grover were best friends by the way they were casually swapping lunch meat with each other directly out of their sandwiches.

Annabeth’s relationship with her dad is “complicated.” The same man who used to put on audiobook versions of his textbooks so Annabeth could fall asleep told her just how inconvenient her birth was repeatedly. He took her to monument after monument so that they could spend time together, but not before ignoring her for years. He tells her he cares about her often, but he didn’t even search for her when she ran away. He married so that she could have a “mom” and a “real family” but stood quietly when she was forbidden from playing with her baby brothers. He could’ve died trying to help her after Luke kidnapped her, but she could’ve died on the streets after she ran away because of his neglect. She fiddles with the ring he gave her, his college ring, to prove his love for her as if he gave her affection at all.
