Hello! A very important question for a fic I'm writing!
If Jules-Albert, the zombie chauffeur, were a talking animal, what animal would he be?

It's been more than a year now that I legally changed my nickname in one of my friend group's gc as Jules-Albert (French-Zombie Chauffeur). No one got the reference. No one will. I live in bliss.
What if…
as we all know Nico has a zombie chauffeur BUT what if Jules-Albert always comes to pick Nico up in different expensive sports car brands
one time he drove to Percy and Annabeth’s college in a limo and just waited there until they got out
when they got out he walked out of the limo all glammed up with Persephone, Hades, Hazel, Frank, Poseidon, Sally, and Paul behind him (Sally and Paul were kind of quietly freaking out about being in a limo) he walked up to them and said “Get in losers were going shopping”
Apollo and Jules-Albert fanboy together about vehicle models with Nico translating
he only translates because he thinks the fanboying is cute and they sometimes add little tidbits like how to hotwire a car
Horror theme prompt!!! Someone discovers Jason’s grave dug open and his body lost. At the same time, Nico di Angelo disappears from the surface. Then come many arguements and blames and speculations.
And miles and miles away from the Camps, speeding into the night on the back seat of Jules-Albert’ racing car, Nico holds tight the skeletal hand - there was still flesh clinging on it, rotten slowly - in between his pale, shaking fingers. He tears his eyes away from the flashes of stars to look at his companion. The fleshly-summoned skeleton has eyes of two hollow sockets. There’s a black-framed glass hanging awkwardly across the skeleton’s half-decomposed nose. Some of his ribs are cracked, holding up only by Nico’s stubborness. His lips are gone, but the scar is still visible. So is the smile.
Nico smiles back. And then lets his head fall on the mushy flesh and sharp broken bones of Jason’s skeleton.
He closes his eyes, and there are golden stars behind his eyelids.
personally i feel that jules-albert should be in the sun and the star as nico and will's helper like bob was for percy and annabeth.
seriously, just you think about it: jules-albert can be the modern-day charioteer.
imagine a scene where he's driving his racecar fast and furious style all the way through tartarus while nico and will hack the monsters' heads off with their blades through the rolled down side windows 😭
One thing I love about Percy Jackson is the fact that Jules-Albert, Nico’s chauffeur, is actually a real person. Jules-Albert de Dion was an early racecar driver and early financier of automobile research. The anecdote about how he won an early car race, but was disqualified because he had a stoker (someone who rode in the car and kept the fire burning in order to maintain steam pressure) in the car.
Something I find funny is that de Dion died at age 90 from natural causes, so Nico has this really old French marquis driving him around. It’s also interesting to note that de Dion was an anti-Dreyfusard (I would need a whole other post to explain in depth what the Dreyfus affair was, but basically in the late 19th and early 20th century a French military officer was framed by his superiors for treason and since he was Jewish the ensuing court case divided French people and showed the antisemitism that existed in France at the time. Dreyfusards said Dreyfus was innocent and anti-Dreyfusards said he was guilty).
When he died my headcanon is that Hades was like “hey man you were really on the wrong side of history there so I should really be sending you to Taurturus. However, I’ve been trying to smooth things over with my son and you’re a pretty good driver. In exchange for me not damning you to an eternity of torture, how would you feel about being my son’s chauffeur?”
