It was another long night for Julie. Not that she minded, she was used to spending long hours toiling over a project. Her quiet humming filled the back room, until the door creaked open and the night guard peaked his head inside.
“Mrs. Green?” He said and the old woman turned to look at him, a pleasant smile on her face. “Ah! Joshua! it’s good to see you’ve made it come in!” She greeted, as the night guard walked in. “You Know, Mrs. Green. Its almost midnight, shouldn’t you be heading home?” Joshua asked and Julie nodded. “I will, I will. Let me just finish sewing this on.” She gestured to the fills she was sewing on the puppet animatronic, the guard looked over and commented, “hey isn’t this that old puppet? like, the one that suddenly stopped working?”
“Yes it is is, why do you ask?”
“Well... If it doesn’t work.. Isn’t is worthless then? Like you can’t use it to entertain the kids or make money.”
“I’m aware of that. I’m also aware that the higher ups will cut corners, so I’m repurpasing him so they don’t have to buy a whole new animatronic. That and.. i don’t want to see him thrown out, he’s got so many memories with him, i’d be upset to see them go.” Julie looked to the side long fully like a memory of long ago surfaced in her mind. The guard shifted on his feet, he would have left there but then Julie said. “You want to know an odd coincidence Joshua?” the guard was startled but nodded “Uh, sure” Julie looked back at the puppet. “I remember the exact day this old guy went limp, it was the same day that other place burnt down.. what was it called again? Fazbears...” “Fazbear’s Fright, Ma’am?”
“Yes! that’s the one, the same day it went up in flames this animatronic quit moving! Now isn’t that an odd coincidence?” She smiled at the guard like she was hoping he shared the same enthusiasm she had. he didn’t, but nodded anyway. “Yes.. very odd coincidence-”
“But what if it wasn’t” She cut him off and looked at Joshua very seriously. “What if the two events are connected? like whatever burnt in that place set free whatever life was trapped in this frail puppet body? Now wouldn't that be interesting?” Julie had a sly look on her face, one that a trickster who knows more than they let on wears. But as quick as that expression came it went and she stood up. “Oh but don’t mind me, My old mind is just making connections where none even exist. I’ll be heading home now, stay safe Joshua.” And just like that Julie grabbed her things and walked out the door, leaving a stunned and confused Night guard standing alone in the back room. He looked at the animatronic puppet, still half finished and silent. “yah... wouldn't that be something...” He mumbled before going to the office to start his shift for the night.
The puppet lays alone.
