Have you tried Hemingwayapp? If you paste your work into it, it highlights all the adverbs, passive voice etc for you.

You know that frustration you feel with Robespierre? I feel a little of the same with Scottish history. Most of the time its in the hands of the nationalists who like to play up the Wallace/Bruce/Mary/Bonny Prince Charlie angle and keep blaming England for everything. How I'd love to see more people focusing on the Scottish Enlightenment, the industrial era when Glasgow built a quarter of the world's ships. Broken little country with drunken fools, that's the usual portrayal.

That’s an interesting perspective. But I’m a little unclear on something. Why would the Scottish nationalists try to belittle Scotland’s legacy? Or are you saying that they focus so much on its warriors’ exploits that they implicitly omit its intellectuals?
