Hi! I felt the need to barge in and scream about the last pre-time reset Jennifer x Deacon scene in the series finale, because the way it was framed and shot drives me absolutely insane. So they turn away from Cassie and Deacon offers Jennifer his arm, which she takes and they march down the hallway straight into the light like a couple that just got married and is leaving the altar. Plus Jennifer's outfit there has very strong 'gothic bride' vibes.

come scream at me anytime!! i just want to scream about everything. the winking! the way they stick up for and try to protect each other! the way their traumatic childhoods contributed to them sharing a similar chaotic yearning energy that means they make the perfect team! i wish we’d gotten a spinoff that was just them visiting a different year in every episode causing trouble and then resolving it.

i feel a DESPERATE need to fic them, but i’ve sort of maxed out my ability to do so without a deeper understanding of the worldbuilding--so it has to wait until i’ve finished my rewatch. and because i am peak obsessive, i’m also going to start building my own chart of the timeline so i can mentally follow the loops around. until i dig deeper i can’t write the stories i need to write, so in the meantime my inbox is open for yelling.

The fun thing is I think he performed right after them in the semi - finale too. It’s like they’re trying to use him to calm things down after iceland.

I mean, it’s not like Benvolio and Rosaline would whine about how much time they’d have to spend together to organize that wedding and then realize they make a pretty good team and slow dance at the wedding reception while Juliet and Romeo beam and congratulate themselves on a job well done, right? Although they totally would, and I’m totally writing this at some point. :D

i meant to reply to this ages ago and lost it but THANK YOU this is exactly what i needed to fully deepen the obsession and it sounds really fun. i’m terrible at sticking with podcasts so i don’t know how far in i’ll get, but i will give it a try!

lol i did not! i haven’t seen any of the bttf movies since i was a little kid so my brain did not make the connection but that is DELIGHTFUL, thanks for pointing it out so i can look for it on a rewatch :)

i’ve grown to like him over time because i do enjoy honest assholes (more than, say, self-righteous heroes) but that same moment hit me this season. he’s talking about how he died and he’s going to hell and you can see how nothing’s funny to him anymore and i’m just like ‘no i love him somebody HELP HIM’ and then i’m like ‘this is fucking john murphy, wait, i love him??’ i blame the actor, he imbued murphy with too much believable pain and capacity for caring

Maybe It’s All Gone Black But You’re All I See - Chapter 3

My version of what happens after the finale - now with Benvolio’s POV!

This was the second realisation that had materialised on his waking mind, belated though intimately connected to the first one: he was not alone. And the person lying in bed next to him, her breathing rendered deep and even by sleep, was the very reason he was alive right now.

He turned his head towards her, watching her for one long, indulgent moment - chest rising and falling evenly, jet-black hair spread out across the linen-covered mattress, mouth slightly parted and slack with sleep. Considering the urgency of their mission, it was downright frivolous to be wasting time idling in bed when he should wake his travelling companion and have them back on the road to Venice, and hopefully salvation. But seeing as he had been ready to die for the peace his city resisted so staunchly, he thought they owed him this one moment of peace at least.

But the peace was a fragile one: His companion may be quieter than he had ever witnessed her, and unlikely to squabble with him over whatever she had decided to be obstinate about. But he could tell from her furrowed brow, her clenched hands that her mind was far from at peace even in sleep. It was easy to guess why, of course: While he himself had lost the only family he cared for, she still had someone to lose - and he'd be damned if he let that happen, after everything she had done for him.

i’m pretty sure you’re one of the reasons i had That Feeling about them! i only follow maybe two people who like 12 monkeys but i’m so glad i gave it a chance, it is a GOOD TIME
