Ch165, When Lau comes to England
As I suspected, those “love letters” were from Lau, not from the queen. So, even though it seems that Lau contacted our earl, our earl and Sebastian might have still had some effect on how he rose through the ranks in Qīng Bāng so quickly. And, more importantly, they might have helped him get the assignment to come to England.
Now, I suspect Lau’s strength and ruthless means of rising in the ranks might be mostly due to Ran-Mao, since she appears to be his main weapon. We got a glimpse of it when they confronted Harold and Mina, and another glimpse of it when they got to our earl and company before the Yard could.
I think it’s funny that, continuing the idea of “love letters”, when the two finally meet in person, they comment... essentially... how “cute” the other is. Aww 🥰 😆
The start of a beautiful, if precarious, friendship partnership. Idk that I would call them friends, exactly. More than simply fair weather business partners, at least.
Note: I do think that Lau knows Mey-Rin is “Owl”, don’t you think so? And it makes me wonder: 1. If she had dressed as a girl and gone by her real name, would she have been able to escape from Qīng Bāng without having to work at Phantomhive Manor? 2. If Lau replaced Haku soon enough, would he just not care to hunt her down? Seems to me that Sebastian pressured her into accepting the job offer using scare tactics, making her worry about possibilities that were blown out of proportion.... 🤔
