A/N: I know I haven’t responded to requests yet, but I miss Junhoe, okay? My bby needs some love! Anyway, here’s something I’ve written a long time ago and is based on Blackpink’s Stay! Plssss give iKON (and this fic too!!!) lots of love!
Maybe it was wishful thinking for Y/N to hope that Junhoe will never leave her. After all, he’s a figure everyone’s looking at both to scrutinize and adore.
At first they were that couple everyone envied, despite the two of them being worlds different. While he’s a singer shining brightly under the spotlight, she is a university student trying to survive the pressure of life. They both live in the same flat surface, yet with such different realities at hand.
Of course, that phase had to end someday.
Sweet words turn to harsh curses, and sweet nothings transit into yelling at each other at the top of their lungs. Y/N felt like the universe is already going against her, and with Junhoe adding up to it, everything is going into an endless pit.
“Goodness, Y/N, can you please stop being a pest for once?!” Junhoe is known for his brutal honesty, and although Y/N is already used to it, she can’t help but still be hurt over again. He heads to their room and slams the door close, glances never exchanged and good nights never uttered.
Y/N is left comforting herself over it, on the couch where she thinks she’ll be sleeping tonight. She does not expect Junhoe to apologize for his words and actions. He did so in the past, but they’ve been together so long that apologies and I love you’s are only spoken once in a while. Their anniversaries are only normal days, since Junhoe is usually pent up with work and Y/N is studying for her finals.
What a masochist you are, Y/N.
She tucks up the blanket she took from the laundry, ready to cry herself to sleep in sadness and fear of Junhoe being gone the next day.
On their anniversary; the fifth one to be exact, Y/N’s exam is over.
She expects that something special might occur, even though the magic had been long gone. Many times she has sent Junhoe a text to notify him that it is December eighteenth, but as expected, he doesn’t know anything.
He came home with his tired self and a bunch of take outs.
“The hyungs treated us for some beef a while back and told me to bring you these home. I’ll go to sleep now.” His voice sounds dull, like she doesn’t even deserve a second look, nor a warm embrace. The snow outside only adds up to the chilling inside her heart.
“Okay,” Y/N can only mutter helplessly. She heads to the kitchen and blows the candle on top of the cake she hassled herself in preparing, despite the drowsiness and emptiness of her energy.
“Happy anniversary, Junhoe. I love you.” She cuts the cake and opens up the packed baked scallops that has a sticky note on top of the tupperware.
Have fun, you two! -Jinani, Yunhyeong, Jiwon, Hanbae, Dong, Chanu
She smiles slightly, tears falling endlessly.
How can others remember, but not him?
The mellow sound of the piano almost puts Y/N in a slumber.
The iKON members, sans Junhoe, invited her over. Her boyfriend is nowhere to be found, and she hopes that he is somewhere harmless.
“That’s a sad song,” Y/N mumbles as she peeks at Donghyuk, who is playing the instrument with his entire feelings into it. She recognizes it as Black Pink’s song, Stay.
“Does it remind you of someone?” Yunhyeong asks, not much surprised when Y/N nods. It seems like nowadays, she’s either crying or calling them to ask about Junhoe and his whereabouts.
“I just wish that even though he’s gone, like, most of the time, he’ll still stay with me,” Y/N mumbles, fiddling with her fingers.
“You should stop crying, Y/N,” Yunhyeong offers her his hanky. “Your eyes are puffy. Why do you insist on staying in this relationship if it’s hurting you this much?”
Y/N is baffled after hearing Yunhyeong’s question.
“Because that’s Junhoe,” Y/N answers, not skipping a heartbeat. “He says unnecessary things and yells uselessly, but at the end of the day, he’s still a giant softie. I love him, and although I sound like a stupid, toxic girl right now, I’d rather have him with me than to not.”
Yunhyeong shakes his head, not knowing whether to hit the girl to reality or just let her be. At least she’s aware of her own foolishness.
Junhoe finally comes by, appearing to be ready to pick Y/N up.
“Let’s go home,” Y/N bids the other males goodbye, and they all cast her a worried glance. She assures them with a slight smile and follows Junhoe out of the building.
She trails behind him, unaware of how to act. It’s like they were back to that stage where Y/N is awkward with everything that comes with Junhoe, but she’d rather enjoy that than to force some purposeless conversations with others.
Junhoe halts, effectively pausing Y/N from her walk.
“Stay beside me. It’s cold.” Junhoe invites her over in his arms, and she hops over next to him, not knowing what to say at all.
They walk under the snow, both wanting to say something but do not have the guts to say it aloud.
“Why is it me?” Junhoe voices out his question.
“Huh?” Y/N lifts her beanie up a little to see Junhoe’s expression and to understand him clearly.
“I don’t deserve you, Y/N,” Junhoe messes his hair. “I’ve fucked up a lot, and I don’t want you to question your credibility because of me. Why do you insist to stay with a complicated person like me?”
Y/N tiptoes and kisses his red nose.
“Because you’re an idiot when it comes to relationships, and I understand that,” Y/N returns her weight back to her heels. “I know that I cried this month more than I smiled, or maybe in the span of our relationship, I cried more than I laughed. But that’s where we learn, right?”
“How do I learn, Y/N? I don’t want to hurt you anymore.” Junhoe sounds concerned, afraid of what to do next and how to perfect the relationship.
“Just stay,” Y/N guarantees. “Stay with me. Don’t ask why it’s you, alright? Let’s stay together.”
And Junhoe replies with a nod.
“I love you, Y/N. Never ever question that.”
And that is the reason why Y/N doesn’t want to leave him, because any day, he’ll stick to her like a clingy koala bear.
