It was May, 1970, and Kent State University, in Ohio, was in a state of unrest. Students gathered to protest the Vietnam War - and while the marches had been peaceful, arson, vandalism, and clashes with police were increasing all over campus. The National Guard were called in. They began by bayoneting protesters who refused to disperse; on May 4th, as another protest grew raucous, stones and tear gas flew. Many students fled - and it was these students, the ones leaving the scene, who took the bulk of the casualties when the National Guard opened fire. Four students died. Nineteen were wounded.
Allison Krause (top right) was a leader in the campus anti-war movement. A committed pacifist, she decried the rioting that had taken over at night, and tried to find common ground not only among the student protesters, but with some of the young National Guardsmen. “Flowers,” she said, “are better than bullets.” It was to be her epitaph. She was shot while trying to take cover, and died at only 19.
Sandra Lee Scheuer wasn’t involved in the protests. The 20 year old honor student studied speech therapy. When she was gunned down, she was only trying to get to class.
Betty and Jughead vacated their apartment for the afternoon. A heat wave struck, and their humble abode lacked air conditioning. To cool off, they ventured to the local park.
Betty halted at a fountain. “Make a wish.” She instructed Jughead, handing him a penny.
“I wish for this heat wave to cease.” He tossed the coin into the fountain and joked, “The temperature being as hot as you are should be a crime.” Betty blushed.
“You told me your wish. Now it won’t come true.” She teased.
Jughead grinned. Little did she know, he wished for endless days with her.

I’m starting this new thing to encourage myself to post more/discuss books more. Basically, I’ll pick five books that I’ve read and apply them to a monthly theme, and then I review them! This month is LGBT Pride month, so I’ve decided to review books with LGBT themes/romance.

Summary: Jungkook got jealous after he saw you perform with your dance partner at a music show.

Everything went well for tonight, well almost everything. Tonight was the big stage you were training for a while now, since you are a dancer at a dance studio they asked you if you could make a choreography with one Idol from SM entertainment, and of course you accepted. At this music show you needed to perform with him and the choreography you two made was really intimate because the song is a love song that talks about passion and desire. You agreed with every single thing but your boyfriend didn’t, he was beyond jealous according to the members from BTS, you didn’t saw him mad when you told him about this performance but you knew that wasn’t pleased by it.
Right now you are trying to find him since after you finished your performance on stage he ran away furious, you could see while performing how Jin tried to calm him down in several times which really made you worry, however you needed to finish dancing before you could go with him.
-Have you seen Jungkook? – You asked Taehyung that was passing by right beside you with Suga.
-No, we searched for him too – Taehyung said worried.
-He was on fire, we need to find that kid before he makes something crazy – Suga said worried.
-I know… *sigh* this was my fault – You said as you looked down to the floor.
-It wasn’t, you are a performer like us and Jungkook needs to understand that you couldn’t deny that opportunity – Taehyung said as he tried to cheer you up.
-He will understand but we need to find him first – Suga said as he started to look around, suddenly Jin and Hoseok got towards you.
-We saw him! – Jin shouted as he ran towards your position.
-Where is he? – You asked concerned.
-He’s going towards the dressing rooms, Jimin and Namjoon-hyung are with him and he was looking pretty mad – Hoseok said worried.
-Thanks guys – You said before going to the dressing rooms. You ran to where Jungkook is and as they told you he was with Jimin and Namjoon, they were inside the dressing room trying to calm down Jungkook and as soon as they saw you they left.
-Good luck – Jimin said as he patted your shoulder.
-Call us if you need us – Namjoon said as he smiled at you.
-Thank you guys – You said before they closed the door and left. Right after that you walked to Jungkook’s direction, you looked at him and he was pretty angry and the look on his eyes wasn’t the one you hoped for.
-Can we talk? – You asked as you sat next to him.
-What do you want to say? – Jungkook asked as he looked at the floor.
-I want to say that everything that you saw was part of the choreography, I don’t like that Idol – You said while looking at him concerned.
-Well, it seems that you enjoyed to be close to him. You were smiling so much every time he danced near you… are you sure you didn’t liked that? – Jungkook asked angrily.
-Jungkook that was part of the performance – You said a bit upset.
-*Chuckle* yeah sure, and having your lips almost together was part of it too?! – Jungkook yelled madly at you as he stood up from his seat. You stood up as well really upset and without hesitation you slapped him on the cheek.
-How dare you!? The only one that I would kiss is you dumbass! – You said upset while some tears started to drop down your face. Right after that you got out of the room and right behind the door you saw all the members there.
-Y/N! – Jungkook shouted as he started to follow you but you just ran off the place.
*NEXT DAY*
You are at your department just taking some coffee while sitting down on your couch. Since yesterday’s fight with Jungkook you haven’t talked with him and you didn’t answered the messages he has send, you are upset and really hurt by Jungkook’s words. You can’t believe that he actually thinks that you can betray him with someone else, and that you even can stop loving him. It hurts you more because you two had been together since two years now.
While thinking about Jungkook and the fight you had, you heard the doorbell and then a soft and gentle voice.
-Y/N, open the door – Jungkook said as he started to knock.
-I don’t want to see you – You said upset.
-I know I did wrong, I’m sorry… can we just talk? – Jungkook said as he kept knocking. You left your coffee on the table and went right to open the door for Jungkook, when the door was opened you let him in and you walked away from him immediately.
-You didn’t replied to me yesterday – Jungkook said while closing the door behind him.
-I couldn’t – You said bitter.
-You couldn’t or you didn’t wanted? – Jungkook asked.
-You only came to question me, Jungkook? – You said upset.
-I just want to make things right – Jungkook said as he got closer to you, then he grabbed your chin making you look at his eyes. –I’m sorry for overreacting yesterday… now I see that I was wrong.
-You are an idiot – You said before you hugged him, and without hesitation he started to hug you as well. –You always get so jealous – You complained.
-I’m sorry… I just don’t like when someone else touches you. I’m the only one that can do that – Jungkook said before he chuckled.
-It was just a dance, it wasn’t special for me. Just another performance – You said while caressing his hair gently.
-You promise me to always love me? – Jungkook said as he looked at you happily.
-Baby I always promise you that, you should’ve know that since we started dating – You said before you hit him on his shoulder gently.
-I know… I just want you to tell me that every time – Jungkook said before he kissed your forehead. –I’m sorry, I promise to change.
-Just don’t be too jealous, that’s all I ask – You said before you hugged him again.
-Okay, I will Y/N. I love you.

Art To Do - June edition
As of now, I am free of my art association multi-job presidency and am only the treasurer....I get to enjoy the organization again. The end of May is coming up, and I’m now updating my to do. I’ve put my “already completed under a cut so you guys don’t have to read that, but it’s still there so that I can see my progress.
JUNE…June is my month. No IMMEDIATE bang deadlines, only one piece of birthday art, no Art Association duties. June is filled with celebrations, my wedding anniversary, the SPN Con, my sister’s birthday, Father’s Day, my birthday, and my husband will be home 3 out of the 4 weeks in June. (Normally he’s away 2 weeks and home 1.) So June is going to be amazing. So June will be spent with family time, vegging, working on my oubliette of forgotten works in progress and finally completing some long put off household projects.

Dear Drunk Doc, Tracer and Emily go on a cruise and one night are seated at dinner at the same table as Haruka and Michiru. What happens?
Michiru is not sure, precisely, how any of this happened. When one purchases a stateroom aboard a luxury ship, one assumes they will spend their time….alone. HEr class was generally content to do only the required amount of mingling.
It is almost as if this bouncy butch, clad in the most horrifying hawaiian shirt (we are en route to to the Galapagos) cargo shorts (She told Haruka they were disallowed unless on hikes) and some strange glowing thing on her chest (her transformation rod brushed her hip inside her pocket, as if telling her to be careful what she called strange), did not seem to realize that they were not meant to be in the private pool lounge for the suite class, although her redheaded companion–tall, slim, and generally quite pretty–looked around nervously, leaning in her ear, calling her name (which was Lena, it seemed) but the girl was too excited, so animated she almost leapt off her chair as she talked to Haruka.
Michiru sighed. Life was about suffering.
“I like your shirt!” Haruka said.
Okay but not about this much suffering.
Michiru would not have called herself a good person, not in any capacity, and she was willing to own that terrible part of herself if it stopped this girl from talking to Haruka about where she could procure this hideous shirt, and let them in peace to their gentle canoodling.
But she had a cocktail now, some horrifying carved out pineapple that matched too perfectly Haruka’s alcoholic milkshake they called a cocktail, and it seemed that no one would come to their rescue. She would have to alert the staff that they were in the incorrect class, herself.
The redhead (whose name, in Lena’s slurry of language, seemed to be Emily, but Michiru would not swear to it) excused herself to go to the bathroom, and Michiru signaled the manager.
Lena leaned in. “Saved up for 2 years for this ‘oilday, I did. Em’s always wanted to see South America.” She grinned, her eyes full of love, and she drew a small box out of her cargo shorts. “I mean to propose to ‘er, you see.”
Haruka’s eyes welled with tears as she displayed the ring–small, slightly oxidized with they years.
“It was me Nan’s” she added.
Michiru suddenly felt very small, and very cruel, and she dared not look up at her reflection in the back of the bar for fear she would see her mother. This was a trip for her, booked last minute for time away with Haruka. It was Lena and Emily’s experience of a lifetime, and they would tell the story the rest of their lives.
“Might I ask how you mean to do it?” The question suddenly seemed very important to Michiru.
“Oh, don’t know, brought me suit, thought I’d do it by the pool, buy ‘er some champagne.” She smiled and gave a happy hum. “She’s just brilliant, really. I love ‘er.”
haruka gave a sniffle, and wiped her nose. “My allergies on this…damn ship”
Michiru looked over at Lena. “Would you perhaps consider Prado Florido?”
She gave a conciliatory smile “Ah miss, that’s the private restaurant, can’t get in there. Tables are all for the posh people aboard.”
The manager appeared at her side. “Miss Kaioh. How may I assist you?”
“Yes, I would like to make a reservation for Prado Florido tonight, for Miss Lena,” she looked over at Tracer, “What is it?”
Lena looked at her, mystified, “Oxton.”
“Miss Lena Oxton and her companion, please charge it to my room and do not allow them to order the cheap champagne, you know my tastes and I trust that you will ensure they are met.”
“Very good, madam.” He bowed and walked away, and Tracer just stared.
Haruka wrapped her arms tightly around Michiru and kissed her temple. “I won’t buy the hawaiian shirt”

Reporte del periodista sobre el photoshoot de Monsta X
Antes del photoshoot, Minhyuk vino temprano del cuarto de maquillaje para aprender japonés del traductor. Cuando se dio cuenta de la presencia de los entrevistadores, nos saludó enérgicamente.
Cuando los sorprendimos con una torta de felicitaciones por su debut japonés, sus ojos se pusieron brillosos. Verlos cargar la torta y tomarse fotos fue muy reconfortante.
Cuando el photoshoot empezó, se nos salió un “Wow, Hyungwon es muy alto y su cara es muy pequeña~”. ¡Al escuchar eso, él se volteó rápido hacia nosotros y nos regaló una sonrisa matadora!
Shownu era muy lindo cuando se movía tímidamente alrededor siguiendo las indicaciones del fotógrafo de caminar libremente. ¡Jooheon mostró mucha actitud para posar así como la muestra en el escenario! ¡No importara como se moviera se veía cool!
Para la toma de polaroid, Kihyun nos preguntó en japonés “Por favor sácame una bonita (sonrojo)”. Escuchando a Kihyun, Changkyun lo copió diciendo (en japonés) “Por favor tómame bonito (sonrisa).”
Wonho mostró un lado masculino cuando escogió rápidamente cual polaroid usar incluso antes de que las fotos salieran. Bueno, un ikemen es un ikemen en cualquier foto, ¿cierto?
<Entrevista Completa>
- ¡Felicitaciones en su muy esperado debut japonés!
Todos: ¡Gracias! (aplauso aplauso aplauso) Shownu: Estamos nerviosos y emocionados al mismo tiempo por nuestro debut. Como si estuviéramos empezando de cero, ¡estamos muy encendidos! Minhyuk: Creo que hasta ahora muchas monbebes japonesas han venido hasta Corea sólo para vernos. Pero a partir de ahora, trabajaremos incluso más duro para ser nosotros los que vayamos hacia ustedes.
- Por favor cuéntanos algo que haya sucedido durante la grabación de sus canciones debut japonesas ‘Hero’ y ‘Stuck’.
Jooheon & Kihyun: Fue muy duro~ Jooheon: Muchas de nuestras canciones son dinámicas, pero pienso que estas dos canciones lo son aún más. Las voces de nuestra línea vocal Kihyun y Minhyuk suenan muy bien juntas así que ese es un punto fuerte. Pero la pronunciación del japonés es muy difícil. Como soy un rapero lo fue especialmente la parte rápida del rap. Kihyun: “ ち” (chi) y “ つ” fueron especialmente difíciles. Hyungwon: ¡ “ ぜ”(ze) y “ そ”(zo) también!*
*los sonidos ‘tsu’ ‘ze’ y ‘zo’ no existen en el coreano, así que es muy difícil para ellos pronunciarlo. Así que mayormente termina sonando como ‘chu’ ‘je’ y ‘jo’ en su lugar.
- ¿Cómo quieren que las monbebes japonesas escuchen su música?
Changkyun: Nuestra canción título es ‘Hero’, así que estamos cantándola con el sentimiento de querer proteger a nuestras monbebes. Sería genial si pudieran sentir el encanto masculino/salvaje.
- ¿Alguna meta para las promociones japonesas?
Shownu: ¡Quisiera hacer un Dome Tour! Todos: ¡¡Oooohhhhh~!! Shownu: Claro que sería difícil hacerlo por ahora, pero creo que cuanto más grande el sueño, más duro podemos trabajar por él. Todos: (asienten) Kihyun: (en japonés) Quisiera hacer un tour nacional por Japón.
{Dónde quiere ir Monsta X en Japón}
- ¿Hay algún lugar en Japón al que les gustaría ir?
Minhyuk: ¡¡Akihabara!!
- Eh (risas), ¿por qué Akihabara?
Minhyuk: Siempre he querido ir desde que era joven~ Akihabara tiene muchísimo anime, juegos, y manga, ¿cierto?... En realidad soy un otaku (risas) Jooheon: Minhyuk es un otaku de verdad~(lol) Kihyun: Quiero ir a Sapporo. Jooheon: ¡Yo también! Desde que escuché a Hongki sunbaenim de FTISLAND decir que fue a esquiar a Sapporo, siempre he querido ir. Shownu: Yo quiero ir a Yufuin. Todo: Aguastermales ♪ Aguastermales ♪ Aguas termales ♪ Hyungwon: Las aguas termales japonesas son geniales~ Quiero ir con todos los miembros. Wonho: Quisiera ir por todo el país e ir a ver a varios lugares. Changkyun: Quiero ir al monte Fuji. Y hacer snowboard ahí. Minhyuk: ¡No puedes hacer snowboard en el monte Fuji! (lol) Changkyun: Si, pensé eso. Lamento haber pensado si quiera en hacerlo en primer lugar (risas)
{Comida japonesa favorita}
- ¿Comida japonesa que les gusta?
Hyungwon: (inmediatamente) ¡Sushi! Kihyun: ¡Takoyaki! Shownu: ¡Sushi de filete de caballa! Jooheon: ¡Shishamo (esperlano)! Lo venden en Corea también. Minhyuk: (en japonés) Rollo de algas secas para mí.
- Pero tienen el kimbap* en Corea también (son platos similares)
Minhyuk: el japonés también es rico. Me gusta el temaki-sushi (tradu literal: sushi enrollado a mano) que sirven en los restaurantes de sushi~ Changkyun: Me gusta la copia en plato hondo* Como cerdo en plato hondo. Jooheon: Cerdo kakuni en plato hondo también Hyungwon: Y carne de res en plato hondo Kihyun: Y stamina en plato hondo Wonho: Me gusta el konowata** Wonho: En Japón konowata puede tener la imagen de ser un plato de acompañamiento cuando tomas (risas), pero es realmente bueno cuando lo comes con arroz blanco. Hyungwon: toda la comida japonesa es deliciosa. Changkyun: de verdad amo la comida japonesa.
*comida en plato hondo casi siempre son carne cocinada sobre arroz blanco. Ej: stamina en plato hondo son cerdo, arroz y huevo crudo. **konowata es básicamente entrañas de pepino de mar saladas.
{Hablando y aprendiendo japonés}
- Ustedes chicos hablan japonés por aquí y por allá pero ¿quién es el mejor (ichiban) en japonés?
Todos: ¡Minhyuk! Hyungwon: Él es muy bueno. Minhyuk: ¿ichiban? (preguntándole al traductor qué significa) Minhyuk: ¡Ichiban (feliz)! Pienso que no somos muy diferentes en nivel. Pero hay muchas líneas en el anime y las letras de las canciones que me interesan, así que las escribo y las memorizo.
- ¿Algunas palabras que haya aprendido recientemente?
Shownu: Aprendí ‘frío’ ‘caliente’ y ‘con sueño’ (lol) Jooheon: ‘corbatas’ (musubi). Salió en la película ‘Tu Nombre’ (Kimi no na wa) y creo que lo usaban en el contexto de ‘unir destinos’. Minhyuk: ‘sasuga’* y ‘de miedo’. Lo aprendí cuando me encontré con el capitán y peleé con él. Kihyunm: eso fue en un juego cierto (lol) Minhyuk: Sip Changkyun: ¡Yo aprendí masaka** de un anime!
*sasuga = algo así como que alguien es bueno o sobresale en algo ** masaka: similar a ‘¡no puede ser!’
{monbebes y Monsta X}
- Han pasado 2 años desde su debut japonés. ¿Qué ha cambiado desde el debut?
Kihyun: La diferencia más grande es que cuando escucho música en los sitios de streaming, puedo encontrar varias canciones de MONSTA X. Me hace muy feliz ver eso. Wonho: Pensé que iban a haber muchas penurias luego de debutar, pero una vez que lo hicimos, pudimos ser conocidos por mucha gente y tener fans que no teníamos cuando éramos trainees. Recibimos mucho amor, así que hay más felicidad que penurias. Cuando las fans nos alientan, de verdad se convierte en nuestra fuerza, así que podemos trabajar duro con ese poder. Jooheon: Yeah, ¡Monbebes juegan un papel muy grande!
- ¿De qué pueden jactarse de monbebes?
Minhyuk: Hemos hecho un concierto en Corea y fan meetings alrededor de Asia. Al principio queríamos darle poder a todos, pero el poder que monbebes nos dio de vuelta es mucho más grande.
- ¿Qué tipo de monbebes llaman tu atención?
Jooheon: Mis ojos van directamente a las monbebes que se saben los fanchants memorizados y los gritan fuerte. Pero todos nos apoyan en el escenario a su manera así que soy feliz.
- ¿Cuál ha sido la experiencia más conmovedora desde que se convirtieron en MONSTA X?
Changkyun: ¡Nuestro propio concierto! Shownu: Por supuesto que nuestro concierto, pero también nuestro tour de fanmeetings por Asia fue muy bonito. Me sentí muy conmovido de que monbebes y nosotros nos pudiéramos conocer. Hyungwon: Me sentí muy conmovido cuando monbebes hicieron un video especial para nosotros y lo pusieron en el fanmeeting.
{Celebridades con las que Monsta X es cercano}
Kihyun: Debido a que debutamos el mismo año, somos muy cercanos a SEVENTEEN. También GoT7 sunbaenim, y Ryeowook hyung de Super Junior. Shownu: Soy cercano a Heechul de Super Junior. Jooheon: Soy amigo de Jackson de GoT7. Wonho: Aunque hay muchos grupos de idols en Corea, nos llevamos bien con todos. Incluso además de las personas que hemos mencionado, hay mucha gente a la que somos cercanos. Changkyun: En primer lugar los 7 de nosotros somos muy cercanos ♪
{Momento gracioso de Monsta X}
- Cuéntennos un momento gracioso que haya sucedido entre los miembros recientemente.
Kihyun: Justo hace poco, algo realmente gracioso pasó. Resulta que un día, Jooheon and Hyungwon se habían prometido mutuamente que irían al sauna juntos... Todos: (empiezan a reírse) Kihyun: Pero justo antes del momento en que habían planeado irse, Jooheon se quedó accidentalmente dormido.
