About six years ago I did a version of this song from Donkey Kong Country, and at the time, it was an amazing high water mark for me. I’d never done anything that sounded that good before.

There was one problem: I never exported it at any higher quality setting than 128kbps, at the medium rendering quality in FL Studio.

So, here I am, trying to do both a higher bitrate and higher quality version. It’s not on Soundcloud because I don’t know if I’m entirely happy with it. Getting the big brass is probably one of the most challenging parts of this, and I’m definitely not happy with the way those sound. I also think the bass guitar is probably way too deep.

But this song also takes, like, four or five hours to render.

I’ll definitely have to keep messing with it. But for now, here’s your preview. If you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it.
