#Dinocember Day 29 - Tyrannosaurus Rex 🦖 « T rex doesn’t want to be fed, he wants to hunt. You can’t just suppress 65 million years of gut instinct... » I had just very recently done a portrait of the Rex and decided to go for a more comic book style with this particular drawing, by making the overall proportions more emphasized. No other Rex design from the films can come close to outmatching the Stan Winston Rex animatronic design for me. That terrifyingly menacing look is too iconic and unique. But in this case I wanted to achieve something in between by combining different elements from both the 1993’s animatronic and the JW cgi Rex by ILM. Overall I’m satisfied with the final result. Working on these during this week has been a real challenge as I’m essentially trying to finish these illustrations in just a day, which otherwise would usually take me 2 to 3 days to complete. But it’s always good to challenge yourself as an artist in order to progress and gain more versatility. ✍️ After tomorrow I’m going to take a much needed little break.
