I'm sure this has been said before by people that are better at articulating their thoughts but here I am anyway:
Ofmd and mainly the fandoms way of portraying the characters and all their flaws is so gorgeous to me.
The way i have seen tons of art of character that showcase their whole being human so beautifully.
Art where a character is shirtless and they have bodyhair and scars and soft bellies and age lines and stretch marks and where none of this takes away from the characters beauty and instead ads so much more to their humanity.
This fandom and its artists are revolutionizing body positivity and are showcasing characters without making them look like perfect, hairless models.
They are showing men that have all the characteristics of being a stereotypical man (hairy, large, rugged looking and scared) and those men are being gentle and soft and emotionally vulnerable with eachother.
They are showing off characters that don't fit into the stereotypical images of what a man or a woman is supposed to be and they are showing them as they are, not less or more then. They are showing Lucius and Jim and stede and Oluwande and so many others breaking every stereotype of what they are supposed to be and they are doing it in a beautifully mundane fashion.
I can't fully explain it without this becoming way longer than it already is, but yeah.
Every time I see art of this show I fall a little bit more in love with the inherent humanity of it all <3
Thank you my fellow artists. I love you, I'm giving you a kiss on the cheek.
