There’s this voiceline Xinyan has about Zhongli:
There was this one fellow who invited me to perform at his place, back when there weren't many who would give my music the time of day. I was touched, let me tell you what. Like, hey, someone gets it! I agreed right away... But when I got there, I found out that he was the consultant at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. What a weird guy. I mean, how was that appropriate?
Okay, before I get to the pun, I love this also because it implies that Zhongli, far from being some stuffy traditionalist, is actually someone who keeps up to date and even anticipates trends in Liyue. Yes, he can talk your ear off about the history of any random object, but this isn’t necessarily history to him, it’s living memory. He’s not a just traditionalist, he’s just been around since before the traditions were created and adopted them when they were new trends.
He supports Xinyan, and even if he’s a bit of an out of touch old man at times, he’s still perceptive enough to know that this new musical trend is something that will catch on.
But primarily, I love this voiceline because it implies that Zhongli rocks.
