the taylormouse thesis is honestly so strong like they’re positioned very similarly in their country’s respective tennis lore. both their countries no1 players, both living in the shadow of a great from the previous generation (roddick & hewitt), roughly the same age (born ‘97 and ‘99 but they both debuted on the main tour in 2015), both showing great promise from early on (making next gen finals 2018, mouse was ranked 33 and taylor 49 at the time), both now have proven themselves as mainstays in the top 10 (taylor first cracked the top 10 in 2022, mouse man did it 2024), both consistently undermined despite being incredibly successful, both overshadowed by the younger, flashier names on the tour, both not quite lost gen but not quite new gen either, skirting around records but as yet still waiting to make the breakthrough everyone’s hunting for

YOU GET IT. IM GONNA SCREAM. What if we were trapped by our past and our future and they both seemed to press in on us at once. No because I was literally thinking about the Hewitt Roddick comparisons too the other day.

Also, I’m obviously not Australian so I have no clue how prevalent this is but I was watching like some Aussie tennis media and I just went “They’re talking about Demon like we talk about Taylor 🫩” and I wanted to throw myself off of some high up ledge.

ALSO! Not to bring up the Evils, but the fact that they both had a slam quarterfinal curse. Taylor obvi broke his last year at USO but it was very much a Thing. And let’s not even mention sinnerfritz or de sinnaur…

Unrelated but did I watch Mouse Man crack top 10 in my first serious tennis watching experience??? For the first time??? I DID!!! That’s so cool omg
