I caved in and started watching the 2015 Death Note drama, and can I just say that there are many, MANY parallels between it and the Netflix movie?

Light’s first victim is a school bully

Light isn’t a genius, he’s only somewhat above average academically

Light’s mother is dead and a source of tension between him and his dad

Light completely loses his shit when he first meets Ryuk

Ryuk eggs Light on to use the Death Note when he wanted to throw it out

L is introduced wearing a hoodie

L is even more blatantly arrogant than he was in the anime/manga

I can’t believe Netflix couldn’t even make an original bad movie.
