Dear John Lennon , my dumbass is in love with you.
i hate when i do something fun, and my family says crap like "oh so you can do ___, but not your chores??" like. i have such little mental and physical energy that i want to use the small amount i have to make me happy.
i do my chores when i am able, but with chronic pain, asthma, audhd, and various mental health struggles, i have to be able to do things at my own pace. yelling at me won't get it done faster if my body and mind are refusing to cooperate.
this is ableism.
Happy mother’s day. 🪻🌸
i just think everyone should know that I love Jack O'Connell and Joe Cole so much🙃✋🏻

When I was younger, I always dreamt of being an actress or in something else related to the arts. Back then, it seemed like these things could happen naturally with some dedication and a lot of passion. You used to be able to walk into an open casting and it did not really matter who your parents were. Of course, there has always been bias toward people with connections, but there was more of a chance for normal working class people, or those with parents in jobs unrelated to their aspirations, to have the opportunity to pursue their passions. I highly doubt we will ever see an influx of modern equivalents of Kate Moss or Kaya Scodelario, ordinary people who were lucky enough to be given opportunities that helped pave the way for their careers. I think this is why people take issue with the idea of the "nepo baby." It is not that they do not deserve the opportunities handed to them, as some genuinely do have a passion like the rest of us, but it is the fact that these opportunities, so easily accessible to them, are even more out of reach than ever before for people without connections, especially those who lack support and money.
The arts are becoming increasingly elite. There are countless people who are probably greater than the greatest we know, but who will, unfortunately, never get the chance to showcase their talents on a large scale. Of course, fame is not the sole reason to pursue talent, but recognition is something many people seek, not just for validation, but for the opportunity to share their vision with the world.
I favour British media because I feel it is the most representative. Hollywood could certainly take some notes. British shows have always felt more authentic because talent was sought out rather than manufactured. We see real faces, the everyday people who are rarely shown in the big movies we are used to seeing. While on the topic of British media, Skins is a show that stands out to me the most. The actors and actresses were not only well known stars but random teenagers who wanted to pursue their passion. They were even asked for their thoughts on the scripts to make the show as real and raw as possible. It was unique to British culture at the time and remains relatable to many to this day. I found it quite funny when the USA tried to make their own version of Skins. It felt silly that they wanted to create an American show replicating British teenage life. The show seemed inauthentic, and it is exactly that, an imitation that lacked the depth and realness of the original. Creating something that is unique and specific to a particular audience and demographic is what makes it so enticing.
A big problem with media now is that it's devoid of the mystique and whimsy we used to have. Realism is all the rage but It's not as real as we think it is with the rise of ai, what's the point of creating art that is a recreation of the mundane life we live when we have the ability to create things beyond our wildest dreams. Of course realism is needed to show the gritty truth we wish to convey but we deserve to have something magical once in a while. Why must movies be colour graded to be accurate to real life? Why can't it be blue when it's midnight and yellow when it's sunny? A big part of acting to me was escape, the way you can manipulate emotions and create feelings within viewers not just with your expression or the storyline but with clothing, colours, lighting etc to create a new reality, that to me is the most magical thing of all.
Another fanart of Gabe but as Elias from Bodies, and of course there's Sir Julian Harker aka Adult Elias (not supporting the character, just thought I'd add him into my drawing)
Random fan art of Gabe I did a while ago <3
