(It’s just official art, not merch, but still!!) Yeah apparently??? Like his PTSD is common knowledge (least I thought it was) and it’s pretty well known that soldiers/veterans have Issues with fireworks but here we are. With this. Even if you assume it was just meant to be ‘old man hates loud noises’ and not a direct reference to all that it’s still just... tone deaf at best, tbh.

1. breaking the kiss, but for a funny reason

When Candy gets home that evening, Tyler meets her at the door. He does a little flourish, bowing, and she laughs into her hand as he stoops low to kiss the other.“You’re full of it tonight,” she says and he smiles at her.“I missed you,” he replies, straightening up.At his full height she can’t even reach him on her tiptoes. But it never really bothered either of them any. Candy just reaches up and puts a hand on the side of his neck, beckoning more than pulling him down again. He leans in, smile widening.“I missed you too,” she says, and leans in.It’s slow and easy at first but when Candy manages to snake one hand around and lock the door behind them Tyler responds eagerly. She raises both her hands into his hair and tugs faintly, encouraging. It’s so distracting she almost doesn’t notice the smoke coming from her skirts. Almost.“Tyler,” she mumbles, lower lip between his teeth. He shifts to kiss the corner of her mouth and she says again, clearer, “Tyler.”“Hmm?”“You’re doing it again.”He blanches, pulling away and searching her a moment before finding the flames on the ends of her skirts. Frantically, he pats it out and keeps his head down a tick before slowly raising an apologetic gaze to meet hers again.Candy laughs. Because this is, by now, far from abnormal. She cups a hand to his cheek and he manages to break into a smile again too.“It’s fine,” she says, “it’s an old one anyway.”

FAKE DATING ALERT

I’ve somehow made it this far without yoice making an appearance so time to break that streak. I actually have two thoughts about this one, but the other one I might actually try to write because I am weak.

Pre-series Yuuri/Chris, because what’s life without rarepairs I guess? Chris had a bad break with someone in the skating circuit who runs into him at an event and wants him back. Rather than let it progress to an ex hookup, which would be a really bad idea, Chris says he’s seeing someone else. Who? He thinks fast. Of everyone here he knows, there’s one person who he could be dating without it being weird for no one else to know, and who’s a total catch. (it’s Yuuri. We’re all shocked.) Only afterwards does it occur to him that A) Yuuri’s probably not gonna be thrilled about any rumours going around, and B) Chris has to clue him in fast.

Turns out Yuuri is willing to go with it. They’re friendly, even if he doesn’t know Chris super well, and okay this is kind of embarrassing—he’s probably going to freak out later in private, but hey, it’s not like anyone back home pays too much attention to skating gossip, and maybe it’ll distract people from when Yuuri invariably screws up in competition, and anyway it’ll blow over quickly enough when Chris invariably finds someone he actually wants to date.
