Yesterday you said tomorrow. #justdrewit I was very guilty of seeing deadlines as my enemy when I was younger. But there’s a phrase that made me completely rethink my relationship to work and getting things done on aggressive timelines: When the cat’s away, the mice will play. I remember relaxing when my boss would go out of town. I’d take my foot off the accelerator. Then one day it dawned on me - I’m not working for my boss. I’m working for my goals. So why in hell would it matter if they’re there or not? Here’s the key to getting ahead - don’t do things to please your boss or because you’re “supposed” to do it. Do things to reach your goals. When you’re absolutely on fucking fire for your goals - when they are the animus that’s drives you - you will get shit done at a pace that will startle people. Do that day after day for years and you can build an empire.
