The door to Dr. Eto’s office opens, and Superman steps inside. His cape sways slightly as he moves, an imposing yet calm figure. There’s a gentle clink of his boots on the floor as he takes a seat, looking slightly uncomfortable but trying to keep it together. Dr. Eto offers a welcoming smile, gesturing to the cozy setup in the room. A toy box is neatly placed on one side of the room, surrounded by an assortment of plush toys, and a tray of cookies and cocoa sits on the coffee table.
Dr. Eto: grinning, offering a warm, inviting smile “Welcome, Superman. Please, take a seat. I’ve got fresh cookies and cocoa, and a toy box if you need it. You’ve had a long day, haven’t you?”
Superman (Clark Kent): slightly amused but still cautious, taking a seat carefully “I’ve… had a long week, actually. It’s not often I get time to do this. But I’m here. So… this is all for me?” gestures around at the toy box and cocoa
Dr. Eto: chuckling lightly “Yes, all for you. Therapy can be hard work. I thought I’d make it as comfortable as possible.” she gestures to the toy box “I find that a little distraction can sometimes ease the mind. And I do know you’ve had your fair share of heavy moments, so the cookies are a small treat to remind you that you deserve to relax.”
Superman: smiling faintly, though still cautious “Well, I can’t say no to cookies. But I’m not sure how effective this will be. You’re… Batman’s therapist, right?”
Dr. Eto: nodding casually, setting the cocoa down in front of him “That’s right. And you’re on the Justice League, so, naturally, I’ve been hired to help out with some of the mental health stuff going on here. We all have our battles. Even heroes.”
Superman: frowning slightly, looking at the toy box, then back at her “I don’t know what to say… I’ve never really done this before. Therapy, I mean. I try to keep everything together, stay focused.”
Dr. Eto: gently but firmly “That’s the thing about keeping it all together, Superman. Sooner or later, it gets heavy. No one can carry the weight of the world alone, not even you. But I’m not here to judge you. I’m here to help you sort through the mess, piece by piece.”
Superman glances around the room, seeing the warmth and comfort of the space, and relaxes slightly. He picks up a cookie and takes a bite, considering her words.
Superman: “You know, I’ve always had a lot of respect for you. You’ve worked with Bruce, the Batfamily, the Justice League… I’ve heard a lot about your work. But I didn’t realize how much you knew.”
Dr. Eto: smiling softly, leaning forward slightly “I’m involved with a lot of the teams you’re a part of, Superman. I know all about the Injustice League, the Batfamily, and… let’s just say, I’m not fooled by the hair change. You’re still Clark Kent in my book, no matter what alias you try to use. You can hide your identity with the world, but not from me.”
Superman: pauses, surprised at her bluntness but nodding slowly “I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. You work with Bruce. I guess you would know all the angles. Still, it’s a bit strange hearing you say that so casually.”
Dr. Eto: grinning “I don’t exactly keep secrets. But you’d be surprised how many people don’t realize their identities are pretty obvious to those paying attention.” pauses, her voice softening “But enough about the disguise game. Let’s talk about you, Clark. How are you really doing? No superpowers, no justice to save, just you as a person.”
Superman shifts uncomfortably in his seat, the weight of her words hanging in the air. He sets the cookie down and looks at her directly, as if finally ready to admit something he’s been holding back for a while.
Superman: “It’s… been hard. The weight of it all, the constant responsibility, the expectations. I’m expected to be perfect, to never break. But sometimes, I just feel like… I’m not enough. Like no matter how much I try, I can’t do everything. I can’t save everyone.”
Dr. Eto: nodding in understanding, keeping her voice calm and supportive “That’s a lot to carry, Clark. You’re only human, even if you can fly. You can’t be everything to everyone, and that’s okay. No one expects perfection from you—well, some people do, but they’re not being fair to you. You have to take care of yourself too, not just
