Reflecting :

After reading a few articles and papers on the idea of this MAOA Gene and if its biological or childhood related it has really interested me. A lot of the research says it is Biological as certain people are born with the gene being higher and its mostly higher in males. However they have also so said its relatable to childhood and upbringing as if the person has a turmatic upbringing they  are likely to offend. This is very relatable to Jon Venables. He may well of been born with being a higher risk of the MAOA gene however without scanning his brain i wouldn't be able to know this for sure. But there was also arguments when he was sentenced that he had an abusive upbringing and experienced a lot of violence. This being said if he was a high risk and exposed then that is what has made him into that monster capable of the milieus crime. It very sad because overall yes it is the parents to blame if Venables has been abused and allowed to experience a violent childhood but that being said Venables is still the one who committed the crime so he should of been punished probably and to a degree that he isn't going to re offend because clearly 7 years wasn't enough of a punishment for taking a child's life.

Jesus taught that he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Well, we have become a nation of stone throwers. And in this era of mass incarceration it is not enough to drop your stone. We have to be willing to catch the stones raining down on the most vulnerable. And we must be willing to stand up to the stone throwers and disarm them.
