Thank you for so much good and awesome info! I may bring this up at my next neurology appointment. We haven't narrowed down a list of triggers yet and this may help a bit. If nothing else- knowledge is power! :D
I don’t think a lot of docs think this is a thing, so you might have a fight on your hands if you mention it.
I only found out by looking it up on the net after having my own suspicions about Walmart leading to her having seizures and found TONS of people complaining about the store being a huge seizure trigger and lots of people discussing why and how it could do that. Target stores didn’t cause them in those same people, and so Target and Walmart employees even got in on the discussions and finally there was talk of the lights. It was a huge help to a lot of people once it was mentioned! Kids seem especially susceptible to the blue lights.
I brought it up with my mom’s doc and he was hesitant to agree, but after I showed him my list of all the times she had seizures right after being in buildings with blue lights, he finally agreed that yup, it can happen, so we should invest in some really good sunglasses that wrap around so light can’t get around the top and sides. It might look funny, but it’s worth it to not have a seizure.
Weird things can trigger seizures. I read about a guy who was triggered by the color orange and he could even induce a seizure just by THINKING about the color orange. They put him on monitors and were able to prove it.
Brains can be so wild!
