♡ IWAIZUMI stares at the letter his daughter received with piercing eyes and a clenched jaw. How dare a four year old boy who doesn't have more than fifteen words in his vocabulary ask his precious little girl to be his valentine? The audacity.
"Love? You're holding the card so hard it'll rip." You say, rubbing his shoulders gently as you look over them but he doesn't budge.
Your little girl is happily drawing another card as a response to her future valentine in the ground only a few meters from you.
"She's too young." He says between his teeth.
"It's just a silly kid crush."
"He asked her on a date."
"Honey, it's a play date."
"Still."
"Daddy! Daddy! Look what I drew!" The four-year-old runs to her father while holding her card high so he can see it. "Do you think Sousuke-kun will like it?"
"Wow, it's beautiful, Sweetheart." He smiles at her. "Come here." She climbs into her dad's lap excitedly. "I'm sure he'll like it, but how about I be your valentine, huh?"
You withhold your laugh. Hajime was always jealous and protective of his daughter. It cute, seeing him so in love with her and with the fact that he is her dad, but sometimes he tends to go overboard.
"But, if you're my valentine, who's gonna be Mommy's valentine?" She pouts. "Oh! Uncle Oikawa can be her valentine!"
"No!"
"That's a great idea, Blossom." You say laughing.
"No, it isn't. You both will be my valentine." He says.
"Or, Daddy will be my valentine, Sousuke-kun will be yours and the four of us can go on a date at the movies, how does that sound?"
"I love it, Mommy!" She grins widely.
[...]
"He's not gonna steal her from you, you know. She will always be daddy's little girl." Your fingers brush through his hair as he burries his face on your chest.
"I know, but she's too young!" He whines, tightening his hold around your waist.
♡ KUROO grins as his son asks him for advice.
"I want to ask her to be my valentine, but I don't know how."
The little boy fidgets with his tiny fingers, a red tint on his cheeks after telling his father how much he likes this girl in his class.
"How about we buy her some flowers and chocolate, huh? That's how I asked your mom out."
"Really?! And she accepted?"
"Of course she did, my charms are invincible." Tetsurou smirks proudly.
"He was redder than a tomato and a stuttering mess, when I said 'yes' I thought he would pass out." You say, entering the room to give them some drinks. S/n laughs loudly as your husband blushes, embarrassed.
"Baby, you're ruining my reputation!" He whines and you cup his cheeks to give him a loud smooch.
"Sorry, Love. So, let's go buy some chocolates?"
[...]
You and Kuroo wait in the car as your kid knocks on his crush's door. He could do it tomorrow in class, but he's way too shy to do it in front of his colleagues and he also wanted to know her response, so after texting the girl's mom asking if they were home, you drove your little boy there.
"Do you think she'll say yes?"
"Have some faith in your son, Tetsu." You slap his arm. "Oh, oh, she's there!"
You two stare out of the window like two fangirls, trying to read the girl's expression to see how it's all going. She looks surprised, her eyes shine a bit at the sight of the roses and chocolate box in his hands. He starts saying something to her and her cheeks go red, after he's done she nods excitedly and they hug.
Kuroo raises his fist in celebration and you cheer.
"Oh my God, she accepted!"
"Of course she did, he's my son, he takes after my charms."
"Yeah, yeah, okay."
♡ USHIJIMA stares down at the sixteen-year-old boy who's standing by the door in front of him. The poor teenager would be terrified if it wasn't for the fact that he is a fan of the ace.
"You know I'm a professional volleyball player, right? I'm Japan's canon." He crosses his arms, subtly flexing his muscles to show his strength.
"Yes, Sir, I'm a big fan."
"You've seen my games?"
"Yes, Sir."
"So you know how strong I am, right? You’ve seen my spikes I’m sure you know it."
“Yes! I love that play you and Kageyama-san did on last years’ finals, the ball hit the court with a ‘kaboom!’ and the game ended and I was like ‘oh my god!’, I almost punched the wall.”
“You’re an odd kid.”
“Dad, please leave him alone.” His son pleads, sighing as he reaches the door.
You watch from the end of the hall how his date slightly blushes when S/n comes into his view, a smile plastering your face as you remember years ago when Wakatoshi went to your childhood house to pick you up for your first date as well.
“Wow… y-you look- I-”
“Handsome. Tell him he looks handsome.” Your husband orders.
“Dad, stop.”
“No, no, he’s right. You look very handsome.”
“Thank you. You do too. Now let’s get going.”
“Don’t forget the canon.”
“I won’t, Sir.”
“I want him home by ten.”
“Eleven!” You say loud enough for them to hear and your son flashes you a grateful look before snatching his date’s arm and pulling him to walk away.
“No funny business!”
“Dad, for God’s sake.”
You hug Ushijima from behind and you two watch as the boys disappear from your view.
“He’s all grown up now, just yesterday I was changing his diapers.” You whine, buring your face on his back.
“He’s turning into a man now. But he needs to choose his dates better, that boy is weird.”
You laugh, then pull him out of the doorway and close it behind you.
“You just found him weird cause he wasn’t intimidated by you.” Wrapping your arms around his neck, you get on your tiptoes to give his nose a little peck.
“Indeed. Do I need to work out more? Maybe if I get more muscles I’ll be intimidating.”
“I think you look amazing just the way you are, Baby, but if you want I have a workout program that can you can do, and it’s pretty easy, we have all the equipments you’ll need here.”
He tilts his head with furrowed eyebrows, a little confused.
“You’ll only need a bed and your loving wife.” You smirk. “We can workout as much as we want until eleven.”
“You know, you’ll be the death of me someday, My Dear.”
♡ BOKUTO came home from work to hear cries over his wife’s calming voice. He furrowed his eyebrows as he slipped off of his shoes, trying to focus on hearing what you were saying.
He quickly followed the noise to find your daughter with tears streaming down her face while being held by you.
“Hey, hey, what happened, Shortcake?” He asked, rushing to sit beside you and petting the teenager’s head.
“She went to B/n’s house to ask him to be her valentine but found him cheating on her.” You respond in her place as she was unable to speak due to her hiccups.
“I’m sorry, he did what?!”
You grabbed his wrist before he could get up from the bed, already knowing he would sprint to the boy’s house.
“Kou, she needs us right now, just leave it alone.”
“But-”
“No, we can talk to his parents later, now stay here and comfort your daughter.” He sighs in defeat.
“Hey, Shortcake, look at me.” He cupped his kid’s face gently, making her look up to him. “He didn’t deserve you, okay? You’re an amazing person and if he didn’t realize that, it’s his loss. He’s not worth your tears, Blossom. You know what, I’m gonna be your valentine this year, and I’ll show you how boys should treat you, okay? You should not settle for any less.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
“Now go take a relaxing shower and get ready, I’m taking you out.”
She nods and gives him a hug before going to the bathroom.
“I told you she should’ve dated Akaashi’s kid.” He mumbles and you laugh.
“Thank you, Kou.” You smile fondly at him.
“For what?”
“For being a great father, and an amazing husband.”
“I’m just doing my job, Princess. I shouldn’t be praised for doing the minimum.” He raises your hand to his face and kisses your knuckles gently. “But if you want to praise me later on tonight I won’t be against it.” He smirks and you playfully slap his chest. “I’m gonna go buy her, and you too, some flowers, I’ll be back shortly.” He gets up and starts walking towards the door. “Also, do you think now it’s the right time to text Akaashi and tell his kid she’s single or…?”
He hears steps coming from the floor above him, closer to the stairs. Tetsurou leans on the nearest wall, he holds his breath and stands as still as he can. He wants to close his eyes to focus on the noises but the fear of opening them afterward to find the object of his deepest frightening in front of him keeps him from doing it.
Kuroo tries to control his breathing. It’s loud and exasperating, and if it continues like this he will be found. But he can't, the air feels dense and heavy and each exhale hurts his lungs so intensively he thinks the muscle is going to explode.
His eyes scan his surroundings, desperately searching for a place he can hide, but there’s none. The fact that he’s a six-feet-four man doesn’t help him one bit right now.
His mind is running miles per second. He's right next to the stairs, the moment it comes down, it will only take a look to the left to see him shaking and terrified, the perfect bait.
Everything goes silent for a moment.
And it stays like that.
For one second…
Tetsurou thinks of what he can use to protect himself.
Two…
There’s nothing in his living room he can use.
Three…
Perhaps the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen, he will surely find something there.
Four…
He takes a step forward, carefully, cautious to not make any sound.
Five.
There’s a crack.
His breath hitches and he almost whines, praying that it wasn’t loud enough to give off his location in the house.
But the steps come closer again. Boisterous. Fastened. Rough. Eager.
Panic takes over him. It's coming.
Kuroo has no choice but to run. Even if the touch of his feet on the ground is unbalanced and desperate, he runs, Tetsurou runs for his life.
But it's coming. It’s fast. No matter how much he runs it feels like he's stuck in the same place, the door seems too far away from his reach and he swears he can feel a hot breath hitting the back of his neck, pointy fingertips coming to grasp him.
Kuroo dashes to the end of his kitchen, back pressed against the cold fridge surface.
His heart is beating uncontrollably, he can feel his pulse everywhere. It’ll go up to his throat and choke him, he's sure.
A figure appears in the doorway.
Even with the dark lighting in the room, he can see its eyes. Widened, darkened with desire. No, not desire, eagerness. Eagerness for him.
Its breathing resembles his, though more heavy, angry.
With his eyes fixed ahead, Tetsurou’s hands try to grab anything within their reach, anything that can give him a sense of protection against that thing.
As it takes one step toward him he feels his shallow hope vanishing. Agony tingles from his fingertips to the rest of his body. It's slow, constant, frightening. Just like the closing distance between him and it.
“Please...” His voice comes out shaky. “Don’t... I’m begging you. Don't do this.” Kuroo embraces himself, arms wrapping around his own torso and waist bending in, almost in a fetal position. “Please... Y/n...” He closes his eyes.
He has no escape now.
Tetsurou can feel it. The intense presence, almost crushing. Only millimeters away from his skin.
A hot breath hits the back of his ear. He shivers, swallowing down a whimper. Cold fingers touch his forearms. Agonizing. Traveling down, to his abdomen, his hip. It slips under his shirt. He feels like screaming.
Nails scratch him. Long, thin nails. Over and over again. Again, again, and again. Until the only thing left is the loud sound of his giggles filling the air.
“Y-Y/n!” He pleas, sliding down to the floor to try and get out of your grasp, but you follow him. You straddle his thighs, caving him to the ground. “Stop! It tickles!”
“That's exactly why I’m doing this, Darling.” You laugh, finding amusement in the way your boyfriend’s eyes wrinkle shut and his lips stretch to a wide smile.
“I can't breathe! Ah!”
You finally stop, both of you now breathless on the ground. Kuroo spreads his arms to his sides, defeated, ultimately tired.
Once he's gathered himself a bit he looks up to you, his eyes stabbing knives. You chuckle and reach to brush his bangs out of his handsome frame.
“How come you never told me you were ticklish?”
“Oh, yeah, I wonder why!” He barks.
“I knew your neck was ticklish since you always shiver when I kiss it, but your abs? I always put my hands on them yet you never showed any reaction.”
“It's your nails.” He mumbles, turning his head to the side. “They're longer now.”
“Oh!” You stretch your hands in front of you. It's the first time you’ve ever gotten acrylics, long, ballerina-shaped nails - all chosen by Kuroo, who encouraged you to get them since you had been thinking about it for a while. “But you were the one who chose them.”
“Yeah ‘cause I wanted to see how they would look around my d-”
“Tetsu!” You gasp, fake-slapping his arm.
Now it's his time to chuckle. His large hands come to run your thighs up and down, and his eyes - no longer angry - stare up at you in a way thatmakes you fuzzy.
“Can we go back to bed now? The floor is cold.”
Before you can even respond, Tetsurou sits up, wraps your legs around his waist and stands up with you in his lap.
“Tets, I’m gonna fall!”
“After what you’ve done to me, it’s only fair you do so.”
You frown at him and his nerve-wracking shit-eating smug smirk, so damn attractive, and for what? To give you cardiac crises, probably.
Puffy lips mold against yours, taking away your pout with no trouble. You sigh in the kiss and he smiles, only fueling the butterflies that live constantly inside your stomach.
“I'll never let you fall, Love… Unless you tickle me again.”
“I should get ready for the fall then.” You laugh.
