“The cruelest thing of all is false hope.”
“But sometimes…
Sometimes false hope is what people need.
So why don’t you let them believe that
they will be alright, if even for a moment?”
For once, a statement he easily and quickly agrees with.
False hope is cruel and unrelenting and something he’s been a victim to far too many times to count.
His head tilts towards the asari -- Samara, he overheard her conversation with Shepard just before he left the Citadel -- and he examines her, looking her up and down.
(Her armor looks impractical. He cannot for the life of him fathom why it has heels or why it exposes so much of her chest.)
She must be referring to what he had spoken to the crowd that gathered before him not a moment ago. Hanar, asari, turian. Heavy heads and heavy hearts.
Javik looks away, back out the window.
“There are worse ways to lose your belief.
Better now than later. Better I open their
eyes than to have the Reapers open them instead.”
