I actually do think it’s better for abusers and abusive characters to realize the harm their past actions caused and seek to do better than be literally or metaphorically executed for their crimes

Reading comprehension test:
1. Does OP mention an obligation on victims to forgive abusers who have learned from their past actions?
2. Does OP mention any work on the part of victims to educate their abusers?
3. Is there any mention of “redemption” or “forgiveness” at all in this post?
no because this is genuinely what i sound like and nobody outside of sw prequels fandom believes me 😖

Watching your entire society charge into nationalism and authoritarianism
“Pre Vizsla and his men have entered the palace. Should be stop them?” “How can we? The people are on their side now.”
“So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.”
“I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil.”
I’m so sorry we didn’t learn, George.

Say it with me folks:
“Eat the rich” means 1%ers and billionaires
middle class is closer to poverty than being a multimillionaire
“The rich” does NOT include children of billionaires (come on we’re at least slightly better than the plagues of Egypt)
Upper middle class children SHOULD NOT feel guilt over having money
Being aware of privilege and using your privilege to help others IS NOT a guilt trip
Constantly feeling guilty helps no one
Billionaires, however, should feel guilty over hoarding wealth.
Upper middle class is NOT rich

My uncle was one of the top surgeons in the country. He was upper middle class definitely. When he got cancer, his insurance didn’t cover all the treatments he would need and after 5 years he drained his savings on cancer treatments (while still working most of that time) and eventually died because he couldn’t afford the expensive treatments that might have saved him.
If you are upper middle class and you get sick, it will likely bankrupt your family. It’s fucked.
For all of the idiots in the notes ^
Honest to god - even if you make 6 figures a year? you're closer to poverty than true wealth. Check your shit and remember who your real allies and enemies are guys.
A 6 figure income is a lot right? That’s say: 223,000 dollars a year Which is 112 dollars an hour. Most people would consider that upper middle class. That’s enough money to have a nice house, go on fun vacations. That’s slight more than the average doctor makes.
223,000 dollars is what Jeff Bezo makes in a minute
the well-off and the rich are not the same.
There was a wonderful study done about 15 years ago I think, that shows that people cannot accurately identify their income bracket. Most people who own a home think they are upper middle class when in fact they are closer to the poverty line. Even people living well below poverty often identify as middle class. The wealth gap is even worse now. I wonder if anyone actually knows their financial standing.

there's been a specific thought i've been having about vader and disability because on one hand, the analysis that obi-wan is being ableist by connecting his prosthetics with his immorality is correct. he's not "more machine than man", he's still a human man.
but on the other hand, vader's prosthetics are absolutely a violation. he's not given the means to improve his quality of life, his disability is being forcibly corrected into functioning just enough to be sent to war. that's the equivalent of his humanity being stripped from him, bit by bit, with the sole purpose of being the weapon of the fascist state. and this process started already at geonosis because he lost an arm, got a metal one and was shipped out as soon as possible. the prosthetics themselves aren't evil but the concept of your human body hitting human limits through the damage the life of constant fighting inflicts on you and instead of being allowed the simple dignity to be disabled by this, you're built back up with foreign objects and entirely isolated from people with the sole purpose that you can work more....... idk that's pretty evil to me. the dehumanisation that happens to vader is directly tied to his disability and obi-wan's mournful about it because he does see it as a visual representation of a ruination of a person, he can connect the dots and understand a lot of anakin has been ripped away and replaced with a person he can't love, but his problem lies with the fact he sees vader as beyond recovery, physically or spiritually which is simply not true. he's mourning a person who is still alive which is ironically a trap many people fall into when their loved one gets a life changing disability. or yk. commits mass murder i'd imagine
like this is just one of those situations where you gotta go mmmm it depends. yk?
because on one hand, having a story where someone's moral decay is shown through their progressive disability can be a bad look. not everyone enjoys the inescapable struggle in their life being depicted as a form of horror. on the other hand, life under the strain of labour that we expect today IS progressively disabling by itself and the horror of being optimised for the sake of productivity in the interest of the state is something most disabled people face at one point or another. im not going to stand here and say no one can take an issue with it but to me personally it's a cathartic story and the depiction of disability aids as a form of dehumanisation is not an angle i have any issues with
