“Hey,” Chris says, walking up to the boy. “What are you doing?”
“Oh,” he puts the dandelions down and stands up. “Hi. I’m trying to make a flower crown, but I don’t remember how.”
“Cool. I’m Chris, I live--” he points to his house. “Over there.”
The boy gives him a lopsided smile. “I’m Rob. I’m staying with my grandparents for the summer.”

I relate to your post, im sorry u feel that too :( you mentioned writing warm ups, idk if youve already tried these but sometimes i warm up with stuff like "if my characters had social media what would their bios say and what would they post about" or writing a really short random moment in my characters childhood or a bit of dialogue that will probably never make it into the story itself etc! it helps to get me excited to write those characters again and they can also give new ideas! sending you courage, good luck with your novel♡
this. is. awesome! thank you so so much!
I was feeling very frustrated with my novel so wrote ... yet more poetry but these sorts of warm ups have helped me get back into the swing of prose for the first times in probably months!!!! I am literally so so happy. The scenes and scenarios I wrote probably won't make it into the novel but they really helped me get excited, actually get writing again and relearn my style, and just remember to enjoy and trust the process again :))
Thanks anon <3 i needed to start being experimental and playful with words again and this came along at the perfect time !
