Hello, organized mess! So, this is my little corner of our house. I’ve managed to fit quite a lot of stuff in this area, and outside the frame I have a short shelf (you see half of it) with all my schoolbooks, plus a large book case where I keep crafting/hobby books and a few things that don’t fit on my giant desk. Mr K also has a shelf for his WH40K stuff in there.
All of the furniture used to be in my old room at my parents, but it’s really nice quality office furniture so it’s still holding up well. I’m not a big fan of the color, but I’m not about to go buying a new desk, especially since this one suits my needs quite well. I would like to add some more drawers next to or under the desk though, but we’ll see when I get around to doing that.
Underneath the desk I keep containers with fabric, scrap paper and stationary, plus general sewing supplies on the left. I also keep that big black bag under there which I use to store my planner supplies, since it’s easy to move around the house (more on that in another post). The right has a big office drawer unit that I got from my dad’s office ages ago. It contains odd and ends, paper and some markers. The containers on that side have my drawing and painting supplies, plus some craft bits that I don’t use all that often, like clay or yarn. I also managed to fit my laminator and cinch under there, while still leaving room for my legs, so that’s quite a miracle.
On top of my desk I keep essential tools and things I reach for often. With the help of my windowsill I have my Silhouette, markers and Mod Podge right there without taking up space on my desk. I do keep my camera, some pencil cups, tape and a tub of my favorite hand creme on the main part of the desk, but other than that I try to keep it empty so that I have enough space to work. In the middle I just keep a lamp, my desktop, my microphone, an external HD plus some containers in the back with papers and odds and ends. On the second big part I have that big shelf unit, but on the base I keep pencils and pens in cups, little boxes with supplies and tools, and a big black box with electronics and cables. On the shelves I have more paper, a few coloring books, more boxes with stuff, washi tape, notebooks and all my lenses for my camera. The top has a bunch of boxes with more supplies and tools and glue, my stamp collection, and embellishments and stickers. There are also two boxes filled with photo albums and photos up there, but I would like to put them somewhere else to make it look a little less cluttered. I would also like to change out all the boxes because they don’t hold weight well, and that’s a bit of a problem since I open them quite often. I originally bought them because they were cute, but I would rather have more functional ones. I think these would be nice to keep toy sets in for the kids though, because you don’t have to fill them up completely.
So that was a quick (but long) overview! I’m thinking of possibly making a video of this, going a bit more into detail, but we’ll see if that happens..
