Gorgeous details from some mail I got a little while ago. It definitely inspired me to do my envelope!
The mail I made the other night. One envelope filled with goodies like stickers and embellishments, another with my letter and a project life card with sticker paper behind it. I hope my penpal likes it!
I made some cute paper clips for planners or bookmarks or whatever!
I'm the biggest noob and can never wait for the paint/ink/whatever to dry, but playing with mixed media journaling is so much fun!
It arrived a little while ago, so I can finally post some pictures for the flipbook I made for @siepus for her birthday! <3
Liquid inks + watercolor paper = 💜 Decided to make mini envelopes with little papers inside, plus a mini tag kit out of them using my scoring board and some punches. 😍
I went a little nuts and cut out a bunch of die pieces with my punches, and now I am putting them together!
Sticker making! Had some fun designing these, the nailpolish bottle wasn't made by me, I just changed things and fixed cut lines, but the planner stickers I made from scratch! Unfortunately I ran into some problems using a new paper, but I figured it out after a while!
Easy made embellishments, just use some paper, add some washi, cut out or use a punch, decorate! A good chance to use your stash!
Some close-ups of the book after I changed the cover. I decided to put some random foil bits on the background, and added the little sentiment. I looked up this method, and found that if you add some cardstock at the edge, and then score the rest of the cover pages, it will help with bending. Perhaps I’ll make another one and include a step-by-step guide. You don’t really need a tool to do this other than a simple hole punch, because you can set eyelets with a hammer, but I am very happy I don’t have to wake people up doing that! The crop-a-dile is lovely!
Decided to try binding a little book with eyelets. I still have to experiment with how many pages I can fit in it, and it turned out all crooked, but it's a cutw idea and I like it! 💜
I rly want to start a bullet journal because I fucking love making to-do lists and then crossing stuff off and my phone apps just don’t have the same effect and I just have a million half filled, lined notebooks and they’re so ugly I just give up
But I already feel so overwhelmed which book which pens what else should I get i could easily spend over £100 just on stationary and I don’t know what I need.
@keowyn you have an eye for crafts give me some knowledge? 😂😂
*happy dance*
Bullet journals are perfect for list-lovers, so I think this is a great idea! It’s very true that getting into it seems overwhelming with all the supplies available and such, but I’ll list some key items for you (well, according to me, hah).
-An actual journal. Hah. Yeah, I know, duh. You can get whatever here, really, although with the traditional bullet type journals I think you might want to get either graph paper or perhaps a dot grid to keep things tidy. Graph paper helps me put together layouts, and it makes it easier to write neatly. I do technically prefer a blank page as far as the look of it, and I have a blank journal that comes with a line sheet that you see though the paper to help guide you, so you just have to figure out what you want. I really like my moleskine journals, but you can definitely fine cheaper and good brands for this purpose!
-Some PENS. Yahhhh, here we go. You’re going to want a nice black pen to write with. Your choice depends on what kind of pen you prefer. I prefer fibre tip pens or multiliners. These from Staedtler are nice, they come in a set of four, so you can write and draw with different size tips. If fibre tip isn’t your style, or you want something new I can wholeheartedly recommend the Platinum Preppy Fountain Pen, it’s absolutely lovely and very affordable (and it feels SO COOL to write with a fountain pen, ah *pen-nerd*!). There are also large selections of gel pens and ballpoint pens available at jetpens if that is more your style (they also have articles about a lot of their products for recommendations). Just for the record though, I’ll add a link to my absolutely favorite pen, the Copic Multiliner, which is refillable and you can change out the nib on it, but that’s definitely a special interest kind of thing. XD
-Apart from your main writing pens, I think it’s a good idea to get some colorful pens or pencils to put a little color on your pages. You’ll want some that won’t bleed through your paper, so alcohol pens/markers are out of the mix. I like my Staedtler Tripus Fineliners for this. Lots of people also like the LePen series, and I’m very fond of the Atyou Spica glitter pens (just make sure to store them upside down). A pen I haven’t tried but that I see a lot of planner girls use are also the PaperMate Flair Pens, these are pretty affordable and people seem to be happy with them. Just remember Sharpies and other markers will bleed through, but most of these will work quite nicely on normal journal type paper.
I mean, this is technically all you need, but here are a few other items that I find my self using a lot when it comes to journals/planners.
-A ruler. I mean it’s obvious, but it’s true. XD -Washi tape! Both for decoration and more functional use, they come in all the colors of the rainbow, with all sorts of patterns and they seemingly last forever (not really). -Scissors! -Stickers. Some cute icon stickers or just for decorations. -If you’re not into stickers a set of very small planner/icon stamps, a little acrylic block and some ink looks super cute as well! -Sticky-notes/page flags, although this is more for a planner, rather than bullet journal (although I’m sure people use them, I have sort of a hybrid so I don’t know the norm). -Glue/Adhesive roller (because sometimes the washi doesn’t stick very well, or you might want to glue something in).
I don’t know if I made it any easier for you, but you probably have some of this stuff, so at least there’s that. Good luck, please continue to nerd with me when you figure out what to get! XD
These are the things that I keep using for my current projects. The fuse tool (and also the cheap metal ruler that my husband got me from a hardware store!) are obviously new, but the rest are tools I go back and forth using a lot. The Polaroid Pogo is over six years old and gives me terrible prints, but I love it just the same. The new ones are called Polaroid Zip, I believe. The corner punch is from ebay, and one of the better ones I’ve tried, at least for paper. The scoring board I got this Christmas, while both the ATG and the paper trimmer are gifts from several years ago..
I was having a hard time getting tired after having to go into the bedroom to settle Eleanor and then go get ready to bed and put out clothes for the girls tomorrow, so instead I made some plastic pockets with my fuse tool. The scrapbooking store had a 25% sale, so I decided to pick it up and I'm having a lot of fun learning to use it! I've been making a lot of mail, and after I finish my current projects heading to England I think I might have to go looking for a new penpal! 💛
The weather is nice and the baby is napping, so I took some markers outside with me. 💛
MY PLANNER SUPPLIES
Well, kind of I guess. I keep my planners, notebooks and supplies in here, but obviously a lot of the pens I use for other things. This bag came from a crafting store, and I used to keep supplies in it when we lived in the apartment and had no space.
First of all, there’s my planner. It’s just a black moleskine with a grid, and I design all my monthly and weekly spreads in it. The first month I used it I also kept a diary section at the back (this is the advantage of just going week by week), but I only ended up writing for a few days. Once I move on to my Happy Planner I might use this for journaling again, or something similar without the grid. I prefer the plain pages in these, but thought the grid was good for my layouts.
This is my traveler’s notebook from Webster’s Pages. It’s super cute and super handy. At the moment I use it for my charting, but when I can find more inserts for it I have more plans for it. I’m sure that once I start using it more I’ll add more stuff to the side pockets. They’re really handy, and the only thing I miss for my Happy Planner..
Stickers! This container is really old and has been with me for years. I think it came with stationary, some cute pencils and whatnot, but I’ve been using it to put all my flat stickers in forever. These really need to be sorted into a better system..
The bag obviously contains quite a bit more than what I am describing, but I decided to keep this on the shorter side. This is an assortment of some of those things: Tape, Spica-pens, sticky-notes and a little accordion folder with stickers that I made.
This is my main tool and pencil case. I keep the essentials in here: my favorite multiliners, a mechanical pencil, some assorted pens and gelly rolls, glue, an eraser, scissors and tweezers for tiny stickers.
This is my other pencil case, which contents I change out quite often. I have everything from my jetpens order in here right now, plus a few more things.
So yeah, these are my planner tools!
My friend had a baby a few weeks ago, and she literally lives on a small island out in the middle of nowhere, so I am sending her and her kids some presents and a nice little flipbook made out of envelopes I made with my scoreboard. Love working with those baby pastel colors!
