Freule Christine De Bosch Kemper

Freule Christiane de Bosch Kemper was a Dutch writer. She was the daughter of the rich Professor Jeronimo de Bosch Kemper and a Maria Hulshoff (not the author Maria Hulshoff). J. G. de Hoop Scheffer, then Mennonite pastor at Amsterdam, baptised her in 1861. She began to concentrate on the education of young women in 1867, and to further that purpose moved in 1880 from Amsterdam to Amersfoort, where she opened her house as a school to educate all classes of young women for free.

Wenceslau De Moraes

Wenceslau de Moraes (May 30, 1854 - Lisbon) - (July 1, 1929 - Tokushima), sometimes spelled Venceslau de Morais, was a Portuguese writer whose works were steeped in orientalism and exoticism, particularly the culture of Japan. A translator of Haiku, his verse was also influenced by Symbolism.

Edgar Guest

Edgar Guest (1881-1959)

Edgar Albert Guest (aka Eddie Guest) was a prolific American poet who was popular in the first half of the 20th century and became known as the Peoples Poet. In 1891, Guest came with his family to the United States from England. After he began at the Detroit Free Press as a copy boy and then a reporter, his first poem appeared December 11, 1898. He became a naturalized citizen in 1902. For 40 years, Guest was widely read throughout North America, and his sentimental, optimistic poems were in the same vein as the light verse of Nick Kenny, who wrote syndicated columns during the same decades. From his first published work in the Detroit Free Press until his death in 1959, Guest penned some 11,000 poems which were syndicated in some 300 newspapers and collected in more than 20 books, including A Heap o' Livin' (1916) and Just Folks (1917). Guest was made Poet Laureate of Michigan, the only poet to have been awarded the title.

Alan Mcglashan

Alan Fleming McGlashan, MC (20 October 1898 in Bedworth, Nottinghamshire 6 May 1997 in London) was a British pilot and doctor. His father was a medical doctor in General Practice. McGlashan joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1916, later the RAF.

Cesrio Verde

Cesrio Verde (February 25, 1855 July 19, 1886) was a 19th-century Portuguese poet. His work, while mostly ignored during his lifetime and not well known outside of the countrys borders even today, is generally considered to be amongst the most important in Portuguese poetry and is widely taught in schools. This is partly due to his being championed by many other authors after his death, notably Fernando Pessoa.

August Heinrich Hoffmann Von Fallersleben

August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (2 April 1798 19 January 1874), who used Hoffmann von Fallersleben as his pen name, was a German poet. He is best known for writing "Das Lied der Deutschen", its third stanza now being the national anthem of Germany, and a number of popular children's songs.
