I love the live action where the wild things are movie so much, I could talk about it for hours. There is so many amazing things about it but I think my favourite thing is how accurately the loneliness of a child is portrayed. As a someone who was bullied and felt alone for most of their life, I feel such a strong connection with max because that’s exactly what it felt like. It’s as though no matter how hard you try, you can’t escape it. Max can build igloos and pretend to be a wolf and go to this wild world with these wild creatures who worship him as a king but in the end he still feels lonely and he find his way back home again. The movie does so much to portray his loneliness in such a compelling way I feel like I’m facing my own aloneness with him as I watch it.
