on a totally unrequested update for kill 4 love (the dumb squid comic I’ve had since like 4 years ago):
I’m still working on it! Surprisingly. I still have a grip on the motivation required to do it. I have been a bit more active in writing it nowadays because it’s summer. The story as a whole is completely outlined, I’m just working on the script now, which is kinda hard because I have always struggled with characterization lmao. But besides that, I hope to finish the script soon...ish. I could just hit the ground running and built the comic solely on the outline but I feel like that solid foundation will really help me visualize the story. I definitely have shut down the perfectionism I once had with the story but regardless I don’t want to just wing it, considering that this comic is there to force me to have patience; I want to challenge myself to write a story and finish it.
In regards to the story, I have toned it down ALOT. If you were unlucky lucky enough to read the first version of it that I had worked on through 2017, you will know what I mean (I have taken it out of my blog since a long time ago). The violence factor is still kinda there, eh. But the implied sexual content/gore/nonsensical psychopathic tendencies. dead. completely dead. The rating on this thing went from a hard R to a sensible T for teen. I guess going from being an edgy dumb teenager to a modest slightly less edgy 20-year-old with 3 more functioning brain cells changes the way you think huh. On top of that, I actually got into the motion of researching how to write a story but ANYWAYS. It’s a bit more lighthearted in a way, a bit more emphasis on the characters and humor. It’s a struggle since I’m still pushing for the story to have a sense of urgency and what not, as to make the characters react accordingly, but also keeping the story charming and not so unnerving.
I also had set on wanting to have this comic be fully colored? Thinking that it would be a cool challenge regarding color theory, but I think I might just settle for coloring with monotone colors. I found some comic exerts that have a coloring style I really enjoy, and seems simple enough and less dull considering that I colored the first version of k4l in grayscale.
On an ending note, I, unfortunately, want to be part of the animation industry and I’m currently pursuing a degree in it. That means that I am focused on making portfolio work and working on honing my skills as an artist. Kill 4 Love is categorized as a very very heavy passion project. I’m doing this comic because it’s fun to do it, and I want to challenge myself as an artist and also I still very much love squid game. (also I want to improve whatever the fuck story k4l 1 was). So, if by any chance you’re still looking forward to this comic...please be patient. I don’t expect people to linger around of course people do whatever they want, but I appreciate those who still look forward to it even after such a long time. So....thank you so much!!!
