And I realized, if this Grace got shoved in the sub to die because he was expendable, then Simon was drugged and given amnesia so he wouldn’t remember he wasn’t a volunteer.

And Simon waking up alone on a rocket to save the dying stars while slowly remembering his past.. The MASSIVE triggers he’ll be getting, remembering the father’s sermons about the ghost light of the stars, and confusing the cultist doctrine with the scientific reality of astrophage.

Him realizing he’s not too bothered with the confined space of the Hail Mary because he suddenly remembered prison being so much worst and crammed.

Him having tattoos and scars on his skin that can trigger memories, and almost all of them are bad memories.

Adrian is Simon’s literal rock in all of the headache and nightmares. A solid support with a deep soothing song.

Also, Grace figuring out the translating Eridian after he arrived can only mean Simon and Adrian were prob surviving by communicating with gestures, body language, and pure vibes before then lol
