Kady Rain - All I Ever Wanted (Decap Remix) Free Download very interesting

Kady Rain has truly pushed herself on the All I Ever Wanted EP and it shows. If I heard this music on top 40 radio played next to Taylor Swift I probably wouldn’t bat an eye. It’s refreshing to see an independent artist writing really catchy pop songs instead of using being “indie” as a crutch.

Can’t Save Us -- The heavy wall of percussion first made me think I’m in ‘Adele land’. The line “Now everybody’s getting married / and having babies while I’m drinking margaritas alone” might be my favorite line from the release.

All I Ever Wanted --  Intricate lyrics on the theme of young love, a wholesome radio pop effort with more electric guitar. This was the first song I’d heard and I thought it showed that they know what they’re doing.

RAD Moves -- This is the single and probably the most defining of her style and sound. I love the uplifting prechorus and the funky bass in particular. The music video amplifies the artist’s colorful indie pop meets mainstream aesthetic with cool kids and cool performance shots in some of Austin’s iconic music locales.

The City -- I very much enjoyed this one for the simplicity. It’s hard to write an emotionally convincing ballad in 2016 but they absolutely nailed it with The City. Shows off the artist’s comfort with crafting pop songs and making it look easy.

Rue The Day -- Experimental production combining elements of acoustic and electronic pop. Works well a closing track here.

 I was especially impressed with the attention to detail in songwriting, as well as the mix of uplifting and  bittersweet themes. RAD Moves is fun and well-made music video worthy of (at minimum) watching through once, but it’s infectious enough that you may be back for more. For me The City is just a universal and timeless ballad. Kady Rain’s EP is available on iTunes and the artist is actively booking shows and focused on music within the next year.
