Once upon nowhere, far away,

where the years peal off like breaking day,

there is no thought of toil or sigh

in waves of earth under fiery sky.

A boy’s gone walking down the trail

to pass the girl with the blackberry pail

and time spins on, but lost we lie

in waves of earth under fiery sky.

Once we ran the whirl of life

and we fought and loved as we hoped was right

and we heard in whispers by fireside

of waves of earth under fiery sky,

but that was age on age ago,

and now we feel not rain or snow

and we know not if we live or die

in waves of earth under fiery sky.
