Kahiko the Oricorio (Pa’u)
I always have trouble remembering how to spell this particular form of Oricorio. I always want to either put in an extra vowel, or misplace the apostrophe. I’d still sometime love to see Oricorio get access to some new nectar types to gain more dance forms.
Because it's Merrie Monarch season…

My shots from Saturday @billabong Pipeline Pro of @kellyslater @sethmoniz finals with mum. Being 10 years old ain’t that bad, going back to kanaka aupuni to do this journal with out looking at news . Mum said in public ed, back in 1980-90s they made you attempt to read the newspaper when the #kahiko and #mahiko hawaiian descendents spoke their ohanas first national languages and #hawaiianpidgin mixed with British; and learning to read or write in Am. english. She was one of them but she can understand because one pops’ German. I get to watch my journals in person for 10 years, but i do have to do research now that Im turning 11. Other than the fans, this weekend was epic, I have to write about the hawaii kid beating the old Florida champ. Being his nextdoor neighbor during this contest literally didn’t feel like this. It was quiet. Us kids, we had fun and freezing in the water. Standing next to these waves live-in-person before the contest , and surfing it the day before when it was soooooo (negative points for grammar 😂) small. I watch it get bigger that it was amazeballs and scary. Watching them having it to themselves was like home, but mum said it’s lot of pressure competing while being safe and fun…”they play scramble”. It’s what she calls organising being calm and anxiety in your head; being efficient and strategising. Their team is in their head and the ocean, picking “choice” waves also has rules, the other is beached. It’s just you. She tells me to breathe. I think I would get a panic attack. To be in the moment and breathe slowly so I can be steady so my spirit can focus an align with my kino. I wanted to film all over the place and not ready in semi. Don’t get trigger happy unless I have to do sequences- I did. What i learned for my journal- commit, pay attention, shooting is like surfing “read ahead” its not textbook this time its “the science of shapes” and an art, journals (are news), being local is hard, and grateful there’s even more uncles and auntys letting me learn. Mahalo uncle @kh6969 for letting me practice on you, #Ehukai And #northshoreoahu ohana. - #temanalove #alohaallianceshop #alohaearned #alohaculturalexchange #alohabringschange (at Banzai Pipeline) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZq8K70rXRf/?utm_medium=tumblr
What kind of animal did officer Kahiko tell people Klamp was? A dog, an armadillo, or a baby hippo?
ArtistIssues
A dog! Good question. Officer Kahiko rose to the top of the force with his special little “K-9” partner. Around Kokaua Town’s scanty ring of crime, Klamp is known as ‘the Sherif’s loco bulldog.’
