🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
hoo boy well kai is one of my oldest ocs but what remained as the consistent core to his character is his role as a son/brother. plus, i really adore characters who are assholes or morally skewed in some way but care deeply about their family, and poof guess that ended up reflecting through kai. the theme of family is deeply interwoven in kai's character and the salazar family as a whole, and plays into their personality, actions, and relationships in twst.
if this was about if kai was based on a disney character then aaaaaaa no i'm very sorry. his initial conception was heavily inspired by a certain character but they're not from any disney property.
🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - whats a side of your oc that they don’t want to show other people?
he's actually nice to kids. this walking-talking diasomnia stereotype will find 50 different ways to call his schoolmates brainless apes, but when some toddler proudly says the answer to 2+2 is 9, suddenly he's willingly holding his tongue and may even throw in some encouraging praise. also he has two pet rats whom he dotes on. HEAVILY. the only people who know about this are rook and trey. kai does not like the fact that they know.
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
kai speaks in a deadpan and even tone with an underlying smugness and subtle rasp. his tone takes on more edge and snark the more someone manages to rile him up. he's not always the calm collected cucumber he likes to act like.
unfortunately, i dont have a vc for kai i'm 100% happy with. the closest i have is ben balmaceda as neku sakuraba from the twewy anime eng dub and billy kametz (rest in peace) as macaque from LMK. the former fits the deadpan delivery i imagined for him, while the latter has the pitch and subtle rasp his voice would have, but the delivery is too animated and dramatic for his personality unless it’s when he’s mocking others
🔧 WRENCH - are they good at fixing relationships? or do they tend to avoid doing so?
NO. his pride or shame won't even allow him to even utter the word "sorry" or anything synonymous to it. he's terrible at admitting when he's wrong or confronting people on an emotional level. he’s very aware of how his abrasiveness affects others and pushes them away from him, and he’s more or less accepted it as his permanent reality.
and in the (rare) scenario he does try to fix things, he does it very subtly or in the most roundabout manner possible. though his exact approach depends on the person's relationship with kai. at present, the only relationship he genuinely wants to fix is with his siblings, but he ain’t doing too well in that regard.
