That’s like the million-dollar question! Like, wtf, it’s so weird. 

Well, of course the answer is Deeply Weird And Sad Childhood Events, surely. So Geralt lies to Axel about it, but we’ll get the answer in internal monologue, for sure. :)

But it wasn’t a Cat’s business, it wasn’t anything anyone needed to know except the people who already did-- the few survivors who still remembered, and those numbers dwindling.

Also I was making good strides on Ancient Sea with the threesome sex scene but I had to write a sidebar of Yennefer being really  awkward which was super enjoyable but took a lot out of me. And now there’s almost no time to write, at the farm, so we shall see how fast these things progress-- but they are all in the works, at least.

Your go-to bar order, if you drink?

Usually I am the one at the table goading everyone to try the fancy cocktails, so I’m actually always trying new things. But if I’m, like, drinking at a work function or something and need to seem responsible, it’s usually a gin and tonic for a mixed drink, or a glass of red wine, because if I’m drinking at work, I’m usually hanging with cardiologists and none of them can resist talking about red wine and I can easily start small talk about it and then zone out without having to contribute.

Also, if you’re going to spill something accidentally on purpose on someone, or if you just need to straight up throw your drink on someone, red wine usually has the maximum splatter range and staining capacity on an outfit.

Huh. I had to ask my mom. She said, “it was either ‘book’ or ‘Katie’, because you loved to be read to, and Katie was your best friend, or at least, you were always around each other.”

Where could someone find you in a museum?

Looking for Sexy St. Sebastians. Or covertly scoping out where one is allowed to sit, because I’ve gotten in trouble more than once for sitting on something that was Not For Sitting and was in fact, Art. (This is why the Vatican museum is both impressive and terrible. You can’t sit on anything or go back; you just keep getting funneled through rooms of religious art and being unable to sit down. It’s a real experience.)

Also I like the gift shops.

What’s that one outfit in your closet you never get the chance to wear but want to?

I have a long, translucent, old-fashioned white nightgown that I got from, uh, one of my mother’s friends who passed away, and her daughter (who was also my realtor) was getting rid of clothes and foisted it on me. It’s the kind of outfit that is made for swanning around like a Tragic Ghost Bride, preferably with your hair down and while also holding a candelabra of some kind. Thing is, I don’t actually like sleeping in things that tangle around my legs, so really all I use it for is swanning around pretending to be a Tragic Ghost Bride. But I do use it, so I guess it doesn’t actually count. Um.

In that case, I bought this dress last year because I wanted it and figured, fuck it. I’ll find somewhere to wear it to. Haven’t yet, but I suppose this pandemic would be an excellent chance to swan around the house in it as well.

Thank you, I cracked myself UP when I named him, tbh. I am literally the WORST with names. My white corn snake is named Udon. My cat is named Lenore because she goes into the corner and gets lost and starts meowing to be found. Poor Lost Lenore.

That is amazing. I hope it’s true. I plan to believe it’s true regardless. It sounds like something she would do.

the short stories are fun and i'd recommend them honestly? the main saga is... a lot more difficult ('war stories' by A Man),

but it has great moments, like geralt's fellowship collectively dunking on his inability to accept help while he literally sulks with his back to them

Oh no worries, we’re all taking our socialization where we can get it, and also, do you think I really have better things to do than read replies on my Tumblr posts? no! it’s just that I’m not always good at answering them, or AO3 comments, currently. But like, please, I like to be talked at even if I don’t always answer. -- well, maybe someday I’ll read some of the short stories, but I’ve had a bunch of them excerpted at me, including the bit about the sulking. I get why people like them but I think I probably won’t seek them out. Maybe I’ll save it for when I’m old, LOL.

Oh that wasn’t accidental, he was trying to get firmly back on-topic there. I might alter how that was all worded, it’s definitely modern slang to say “hot” for attractive, but I couldn’t resist Jaskier using it and Geralt not being familiar and getting confused.

oh my goodness he is such a dweeb. Spending so much time watching the games being played is kind of assisting in that-- we stopped playing last night (which, uh, that recap is going to be uh, epic but disorganized, as we were quite tipsy) when Geralt accidentally leapt from a high walkway to his death while trying to cross a street, and died with this sort of “huargh!” noise. He also yells “OW” a lot, which is really inappropriately funny. They really leaned-in on the dweebery for the game, and it’s hilarious because in all his static poses he is So Badass and then whenever he does anything he’s like, a huge dork.

Ah, thank you for expressing excitement about that-- I’m slightly worried that since I didn’t mark it as having multiple chapters when I started it, nobody’s gonna notice or care when I add a chapter, but I didn’t want to promise another chapter if I didn’t have a good plot for it, so-- anyway. I’m working on it only because it hooked me pretty solidly just the other night.
