Your blog has encouraged me to cross days off my wall calendar for the first time since I started living alone, but also to put events on my calendar so I have things to look forward to, and really just to use and appreciate my wall calendar so much more. :-)

An important step in the next 1,332 days- we have to count down, but we can’t forget to live every single day.

I’m part of a superhero worldbuilding/RP project on Discord where the current “present day” of the setting is 2002, and I have to say, the opening “news program” looking screencaps for these Sightings stories are great to imagine as actual news stories from the characters’ recent past. “Super Humans”, “Russian Psychics”, “Mind Control”, “Encounter in Space”!

I love that they tried to make it look like a news show for precisely that reason. It looks like the nightly news in some cooler sci-fi universe where the top story is alien abductions

4. What type of shoes do you wear?

Mostly tennis shoes, because I injured my knee and those are the only shoes I can wear without making it worse. Hopefully that will change, though! Ortho said it was an injury I can do something about, even four years after the fact!

9. Do you still sleep with stuffed animals?

Yes. I am currently sitting in bed with them.

This is Toothless and Squirtle. They go everywhere with me. I've had Squirtle my whole life, and Toothless I got at a Build-a-Bear in Copenhagen (hence the I <3 Denmark shirt). I have more but these two are my guys!

15. What's the last thing you ate?

Tortellini, cantaloup, and chocolate cake.

34. What's your book/movie/tv guilty pleasure?

I don't know if I'd necessarily call anything a guilty pleasure because I don't feel guilty about it, but Phineas & Ferb will always be a banger show! I don't care how old I get, they struck gold.

4 - underrated mission(s)

Maybe the Rakia mission the the ISS which happened back in 2022 but I only found out about earlier this year. Admittedly not too much novel about it, but there was Hebrew language on the ISS.

8 - fave space book

For nonfiction, I'll have to go with Cosmos by Carl Sagan, outdated as it is, because it left a big impression on me when I was 12 and I think it's at least part of the reason I got degrees in physics.

For fiction, I'm going with the Martian by Andy Weir because I just loved it and when asked I often list it as my favorite book even though I could never pick just one favorite book.

(Some runner-ups for favorite fiction space book are Artemis by Andy Weir, The Lady Astronaut books by Mary Robinette Kowal, and War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells.)

9 - fave space movie

I'm thinking The Martian. One of the few book-to-movie adaptations that satisfied me.

(I also really liked Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, but that mostly takes place on Earth and doesn't really feel like a "space movie".

12 - what got you into space?

You want the long story? I guess I've always been drawn to knowing things no one else knows, and space is pretty unknown. When I was 5 I had a special interest in space (there was a time in my childhood when every year of my life could be defined by whatever my special interest at the time was) that went away after some time like my special interests at the time did.

But then when I was 12 we had a semester of Astronomy for our science class, which I was very excited about and it caused me to return to my old special interest in space. During that semester (I'm totally dating myself here!) Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey with Neil DeGrasse Tyson aired and I loved it so much that I insisted on reading the book by Carl Sagan and (a little later) watching Cosmos: A Personal Voyage with Carl Sagan, and I've been interested in space ever since.
