Heavily thinking about Kaji and record shop worker!reader.

Where he’s so quiet as he browses the rows of vinyl, headphones on and sucker settled in between his teeth and gum. He doesn’t really speak to you outside of formalities when he’s buying something new to add to his collection or asking if you got a particular release in.

You tell him one day near closing that you’d think he was more of a streaming guy, that he wouldn’t be interested in physical music— but Kaji tells you that music always sounds better on vinyl.

You like him enough as a customer to keep some of the more popular releases he’s looking for to the side, and convince your boss to get some of the rarer/less popular ones in.

Until one evening he manages to come into the shop when you’re being hounded over the desk by your ex-boyfriend. He doesn’t get involved, but it’s the first time he’s been in the shop and turned his music off. Standing in silence so he can try to hear your conversation, to see if you’re alright. He notices you crying at the desk when he comes up to pay, and that’s the first time he’s ever asked something about you. Not music, not the shop— you.

From that day Kaji starts bringing in little post-it notes with songs he’s scribbled down that he thinks you’d like— songs he’s listened to that remind him of you. Of course, he doesn’t tell you that though.

It goes on for a while before he starts to bring in mix-tapes he’s made for you. He still doesn’t have your number after weeks of coming into the shop, but he wanted to find a way to share the songs that remind him of you with you. Thinking it was probably a step too far to give you a piece of paper with a Spotify URL scrawled down on it, plus he’d be too nervous you couldn’t read his handwriting. So he leaves you the tapes, each with the tracklist written down in simple black sharpie.

The more tapes he gives you, the more you start noticing the song titles— This song made me think of you, how do I tell a girl I want to kiss her, falling so in love with you.

And you start to really listen to the lyrics, playing the tapes constantly at home while you think about him. Until you’re standing at work and waiting for him to come through the doors, your eyes light up when you see him and he becomes the best part of your day.

From this point on I rearranged and modified a few questions of the meme, because quite honestly I never expected to get this far and need to consider what I'd answer to these ones. ='D The world's most positive problem I'd say!

13. I have a buch of parent OCs, and I decided to illustrate my oldest Flight Rising dragons Carran (the big one) and Marus (the small one) for the prompt. They are the leading couple of Seafoam clan. If my math checks out there are currently five of their kids and one grandkid in the clan, too.

14. Tbh I use very few of my OCs actively, but one of the most neglected bunch for a long time has been the WIGU crew. They are nekomimi/anthro characters from a story I saw in a dream as a teen. It isn't a GREAT story for sure, but it's still something I'd like to tell in some form one day.

15. Aamunkajo was an OC that was really hard both to draw and rp, but for the opposite reasons. Her nature was such a bland goody two-shoes that I had always trouble thinking of interesting things for her to do. On the other hand her design was SO FULL OF STUFF that drawing her took just forever…

16. I don't really hate any of my OCs, but right now I'm majorly frustrated with Fini-Zan. His design would need a huge overhaul, but I have no idea what should I do with it. It's the main reason why WIGU is forever hanging in limbo…

This year, the event will span from November 24th to November 30th.

The prompts are as follows:

Day 5: Hands, faces, hair

Day 6: Flowers, food, drinks

Day 7: Sharing clothes, living together, familiarity

When submitting something for this project on tumblr, please tag @oldtakakweek and tag your post “#oldtakak week 2024”! This way your submission will for sure be seen

Beyond minimal usage of flashbacks, NO depictions of these two from part 3 for this project; please only depict them from the ending of part 4 and on. This project is to celebrate getting older and the life these two in particular could’ve had. So, while there’s nothing wrong with exploring younger jotakak and their dynamic from then, this is not the project for you if that’s what you want to focus on! It’s silly middle-age-to-old-men time

NSFW is allowed considering all portrayals of these two should be well into adulthood in this project, however please don't be too graphic. No NSFW-specific prompts will be made, but the prompts are open-ended – so if you get an idea for one that ends up NSFW, feel free

Do NOT participate if you are “proship”/“anti-anti”. Beyond the given moral complications, the moderator has experienced personal issues in their life that make it so they don’t want to work creatively with proshippers — so if nothing else, respect that.

No EARLY submissions please, but LATE submissions are 100 percent allowed! Hell, if you see this two years after it’s over and still want to participate, or if it takes you two years to finish a submission, please do still submit and tag!

Submissions do not need to incorporate every prompt listed for one day. For example, if you have an idea for the "showering" prompt on Day 1, but don't care for the “massages” or “relaxing” prompts, it is fine and encouraged that you just do something for the showering prompt and nothing else! There is no need to include everything. There are multiple prompts just so there are plenty of options to draw inspiration from.
